Nestled in a private holler with your very own hiking trails, Hill Street Holler is only a 5 minute walk to downtown Marshall. The house is south-facing and furnished with a tasteful, modern vibe. Nature’s beauty shines through the many new windows and sliding glass doors, creating a truly indoor/outdoor living experience.

The space
Hill Street Holler is a historic home that was completely renovated to be a simple modern house for your mountain getaway. Surrounded by nature, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors from the front doorstep or walk to downtown Marshall and enjoy the small town charm. The outdoor features include two large decks, a fire pit, and private (rugged at times) hiking trails on the property. The surrounding woods are thick with biodiversity and a home to many different types of animals.

The house is fully furnished and equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay including a full kitchen, high speed wifi, a washer and dryer, and a smart TV.

The layout of the house is one large great room that contains a full kitchen with polished concrete countertops, an eat-in bar area, a large family style dinner table, and an oversized sectional couch in the living room area. The Master Bedroom has a sliding glass door, and a walk in closet (containing two dressers and a hanging bar). The full bathroom with bathtub is located between the two bedrooms.

Guest access
Where the pavement ends, a mowed grass path begins. Follow that path down the hill and, 5 minutes later, you will pop out on Main Street in Downtown Marshall. Please be respectful of our neighbors property and privacy when using this route.

Other things to note
We rely on our neighbors to keep an eye on the property in between guests. Please don’t be alarmed if one our wonderful neighbors comes through on a hike or a run.

Location

Marshall, North Carolina, United States

Marshall is a charming small town with a growing main street that is home to many artists and galleries, delicious food and locally brewed beers. Grab a coffee at the local hub Zuma as you walk across the river to see artists at work in the Marshall High Studios. Snack on organic pretzels at the pretzel shop. Eat award winning meals at Sweet Monkey Bakery. If you’re in the mood for a real fine dining experience, you can make a reservation at the Star Diner. After you eat, there is live music most evenings in Marshall or you can sit on the back porch of the brewery to enjoy the view of the river and the train passing through town.

Outdoor activities nearby are plentiful and include hiking the Appalachian Trail (and many others!) in the National Forest, whitewater rafting on a premier section of the French Broad river, or ziplining through the trees with French Broad Adventures. And when you are ready to relax you can rent a tub at the natural hot springs or schedule a relaxing massage.

You can truly have the best of all worlds here - total privacy in your mountain getaway, a charming small town just a short walk away, and, if you are craving that urban experience rich with history, arts, culture, breweries and restaurants - adventure into Asheville with an easy drive in under 30 minutes.
