Trolldalen is the oldest summerhouse area in Sweden made not only for the rich. The atmosphere is cozy and unique, nice neighbors.
It is a nice, healthy and almost zenmagic walk of 20 minutes to the busses or civilization through the woods or along the road. 15 min with car to center of Stockholm and the Old town. You can also take an old charming ferryboat to and from Trolldalen to the Tbane, underground.
The woods has marathon trail, Lidingoloppet, just by.
A peaceful retreat place for lading new energy
Lovely and calm place, especially the sauna by the sea!
If you arrive by bus as we did, expect a good 20 minutes walk to reach the place (but taxis were not easy to find in Ropsten, so we took the bus).
We stayed there for a night and that was good but I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you have to stay longer, 1/ food stores are not close 2/ no sink and a tank of water: not convenient for washing your dishes / cooking. We were there in october and that was fine, maybe in summer it's more acceptable.
The host is nice, helpful and live next door, quite convenient (actually the cottage is in her garden but it's separated enough).
Stunning location - perfect for getting away from it all, and great for walks. Wonderful sauna, which we put to use every day. We travelled by cab from Sodermalm and it took less than half an hour (and is about 15 minutes to the centre of town).
Liv was an accommodating host, and we were left to our own devices during our stay. We were a little surprised to arrive and find no-one in, leaving us waiting outside in heavy rain: the dates had been confused. Everything was eventually sorted out.
The perfect idyll and base for exploring Stockholm and beyond. We had a wonderful escape from it all here and I can't recommend Liv or her cottage highly enough. Stay here! (But not too often because we want to come back!)
The cottage was a great place to stay! Cozy atmosphere, in the middle of nature and at the same time close to the city. We stayed 10days and had a perfect time. We would definitly recommend Liv's cottage and hope to come back soon.

Liv has an amazing place out on Lidingö, it was the perfect place to go for a few relaxing days just outside the city. Would love to come here again.
The closest you can get to nature without getting too far away from the city. Very cozy!!!
We stayed only one night. Used public transport to get there, which wasn't difficult as seemed to be suggested in previous replies. Had a brilliant time and loved the cottage, pity it was only a night because it seemed like there was lots to do and see in the area.
Great stay in a very cosy spot. The cottage looks just like the photos and is very peaceful. 2 minutes from the water and a great getaway from the city.
My stay at Liv's was just what I needed... quiet island, beach get-away with the sounds of summer forrest rain and beach boating life. It was heaven :)
