The Neighborhood:

Our neighborhood is residential, green and safe. Being very close to the Hudson River that separates it from Manhattan makes this a top location to enjoy Manhattan’s breathtaking skyline, day or night.

Our Place:

This is a spacious light-filled 3 bedroom 2 bathroom 1200 sq feet apartment in Weehawken, NJ. It is 10 min bus ride to Midtown near Times Square via the Lincoln Tunnel. As surprising as it may seem, this place is closer to Manhattan than other places located in Upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx.

Our apartment is 2 blocks away from the first bus stop after boarding from Port Authority Bus terminal in Manhattan. (Read further down for more details about transportation)

We provide breakfast food items so you can prepare something to eat before you leave for the day! Specifically coffee, tea, cereal, toast and preserves are provided.

Room #1 (the other listing at this location)
The Master bedroom is very spacious and quiet, it has a queen size brand new bed, a closet and an access to the shared bathroom (shared with the guest from room #2),

This cozy chalet-like room with its walnut queen size bed and its zen accents, is comfortable and charming and has a convenient closet space.

You don't have to bring bed linens, towels or a hair dryer, we will provide you with fluffy clean towels and all you need to feel comfortable and at home!

The house is equipped with central heat and air conditioning. High speed wireless internet, and other convenient things like iron, city guides, maps, etc. are provided.

Feel free to message me if you need any further details.

About Transportation: I have received many questions from people who don't believe it possible to be outside of Manhattan and so close to it, yet it's true. Here are some facts about transportation:

1. Apartment is 3 minutes (2 blocks) from the bus stop.
2. The bus is very frequent, I rarely wait for it more than 2 to 3 minutes. Most of the time you won't even wait at all. You will step to the bus stop and a bus will be there.
3. Buses are available 24/7 so you can catch them even when you spend the whole evening out.
4-The price of these express buses is $3 onboard, and $2.50 if you buy tickets at ticket window #23 at Port Authority Bus Terminal. From Port Authority, you're a walk or quick metro ride to MOMA, Museum Mile, Central Park, Macy's, Bryant Park, etc.
5. You won't find these buses timetable or route on the internet, it's a private bus company that runs many lines in and out of Manhattan

Other info:
* We provide breakfast food items and you can prepare your own breakfast. Specifically coffee, tea, cereal, toast and preserves are provided. These items are provided for breakfast only, and not for snacks or other meals. Please provide you own snacks. Please carefully wash, dry and put away your dishes.

* Minimum stay 3 nights

Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes or cleaning fees on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.

All the payments are safely made with credit card to AirBnB when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.

Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.

To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "guggenheim" in your inquiry to me.

We are not able to accommodate late check out or bag storage, but we are happy to help you organize luggage storage in Manhattan.

  • Thanks a lot to Maria, so she helped us to find a place to stay almost at the night. The place was awesome, very clean and friendly. Will come back definitely.

  • Maria & Jay were an absolute pleasure to be around. We truly had the best time with them and didn't want to leave. They went above and beyond just another Airbnb. Great company, loads of laughs and tons of helpful tips. Highly recommend staying with them. Thank you both ever so much.

  • What a wonderful stay with Maria and Jay! They were both extremely welcoming and helpful. Their apartment allows for easy access to Port Authority - approximately a 20 minute bus ride. The apartment was impeccably presented - very clean and charming. We were provided with a lovely light breakfast every morning - and Maria even prepared fresh fruit which was a refreshing break from the pizza slices of New York (although those are very good too!) The room is large, light and airy - a very comfortable bed to rest tired legs and weary feet. Ample wardrobe space and beautiful finishing touches. We would definitely visit and stay here again. Maria and Jay are two very interesting people, proud of their city and keen for you to immerse yourself in NYC.

  • PERFECT!!!

There is nothing more to say about these two wonderful people and their bedrooms.

The apartment, the neighborhood, the breakfast... everything is perfect.

If this is your first time trying airbnb, do not hesitate. This was our first time too and we can only say that the experience is far better than a hotel.

Thanks Maria and Jay, see you in our next trip to NY.

  • Maria was amazing, with her communication and help! The apartment is very nice and cozy, and a very easy commute to Times Square (which was important for me, since I had no idea of the area). The bus took around 30 minutes during rush hours, but that wasn't a problem for us. We had a lot of fun, and would want to come back! Thanks Maria!

  • Maria and her husband were great hosts. The room and the bed were great.

  • It is a challenge to say exactly which was the best part of this stay ! Maria, wonderfully Canadian; extraordinarily lovely as a genuine human and caring hostess. She may truly be TopHost ! Definitely a delight ~

And the bus, couldn't be much easier to Times Square ! I then had a quick 15 minute walk to my Conference. Staying at Maria's made my week-end much easier and no feeling of being over-taxed with travel. Friday nights going into the City - definitely worth it to go in possibly around 4. Or plan on a good hour +. Oh what a difference a day makes -

And let me say - ' the bed ' - was so comfortable that it has transformed my experience of sleep!

All in all - this was a great stay. I felt completely genuinely welcomed and thoroughly cared for - and the view of NYC from the bus drive is breath-taking.

  • We had a wonderful time at Maria & Jay's. They are honest hosts, they gave us plenty of good tips and made us feel at home. The house is located in a very nice neighbourhood and indeed extremely well located to get to NYC. Every minute you have busses passing by and you can even take a ferry to the City.

  • We're moving in, don't wanna go home......Maria and Jay have been JUST FANTASTIC looking after us throughout Hurricane Sandy. And although there were 6 of us stuck for 2 whole days in the apartment it never felt crowded or tense in any way. They know how to relax folk. It just felt like we'd all known each other for years. And the chicken bus really does run every few minutes AND you wont get a more breath taking view of Manhattan than from the cliffs in Weehawken. It's high, dry and safe. We weathered the storm safe and warm whilst other areas suffered badly. And all the time these 2 kept going out to check on all their guests, taking food and provisions. We LOVE them both. Come stay.....you will NOT be disappointed!! Clean, comfortable, warm, safe, full fridge...what more could you wish for?

We have a number of listings, so please take a look at all of our places for availability. Simply click on the link at the bottom left which says see all listings. Each of our listings has very easy access into Times Square - we are big advocates of our local bus service which we call the "chicken bus". Buses run every 5 min, 24/7 to Times Square. Take a look at our guest reviews to see what travelers say about getting in and out of NYC. We are not agents, my husband, Jay and I take care of guests full time! We are Canadians living in the US, and are well traveled ourselves and know how important a good nights sleep is while you're away. We will make sure that you are comfortable here.
