We live in a lovely 16th century house that was originally a pub in the pretty village of Lamberhurst. Kent. Our house is spacious and very comfortable. We live here with our dogs ,Tia and Shisha & our cats,so you must be dog and cat friendly to stay here!
Parking is available on the street, we have wifi, and all the home comforts you could wish for. The rooms you will be staying in are clean, spacious, bright, peaceful and very comfortable. Each has a Queen size bed for 2 and the one room has additionally a singlebed. All linens and towels are provided. You are welcome to help yourself to tea, coffee and some basic breakfast. You may use the kitchen & utility room to keep some food and cook if you wish, we only ask you to clean up after yourself. One of the rooms has it's own sink and shower and there is a further bathroom and toilet & another toilet downstairs. We have WIFI. There is a pretty garden leading down to the river Teise, with a summer house for sitting and enjoying the views. There are also plenty of tables and chairs, lovely for sitting out in the warmer weather. For fisherman, the river has carp, chub and some trout.
The street we live on, is a pretty residential road only a minutes walk to the village shops, including a little supermarket,( including a deli), open 7am-7pm most days & sunday 7am-4pm. Royal Tunbridge Wells, is a 20 minute drive away. The village is well served with an excellent Italian restaurant and several other good pubs. There are many attractions to see in this beautiful part of Kent, with the coast, including the gorgeous historic Rye & the many attractions of Hastings a 30 minute drive away, Brighton & the white cliffs of Dover aprox I hour away.Local attractions such as Scotney Castle, Bewl Water & Bedgebury, walking distance or a very short drive away, as on the outskirts of the village, great for sailing, cycling, bird watching, fishing & (website hidden) to London is approximately 1 hour by train from Frant station in the next village or a faster line at Paddock Wood & Tonbridge aprox 15 minute drive. We are also lucky to be near many historic places, for example, within 15 minutes drive, is Kiplings home Batemans & Sissinghurst Castle & 30 minutes away is Winnie the Pooh's home Hartfield, aprox 40 minutes are Leeds Castle & Churchills home Chartwell.

We give advice on where to go,(some how to get in free),local walks etc, what the local pubs & restaurants offer in terms of food, at what prices, to suit all budgets , maps & leaflets to lots of places of interest , walks and attractions.
Friendly, lots to do , very short walk to a local shop for supplies including a deli , which is open 7am-7pm and on Sunday 7-4pm & of course very lucky to be so well served with so many local pubs and restaurants as well as places of interest .

This was an incredible stay in Kent ! Clive and Carol are amazing hosts and always around if you do need something. The house and the room are well furnished ! Highly recommended !
Spent a very comfortable night in Carol & Clive's home, being able to take our dog with us was a huge plus. Given good recommendations of where to eat dinner & free reign in their kitchen for breakfast so all said & done a good experience for us.
Only comment I would make is you must be an animal lover to stay here as it is home to two lovely big friendly dogs & a number of cats.
What a wonderful warm welcome Clive and Carol gave us both. The best hospitality I could want for. If you have time - play cribbage!
The house is fascinating with so much history - parts of it are really really old. The room is delightful, with plenty of character, but with it's own shower tastefully added.
The countryside around is beautiful and relaxing with Scotney Castle a short walk away.
Our stay with Clive and Carol was great and unforgetable! Carol really is a delightfull and energetic person who makes you feel welcome instantly. The room was spacious and cozy and has got everything you need. Great place and would definitely recomend!
We had a lovely time with Clive and Carol.
Carol changed the quilt cover specially for my daughter to a horsey one, as she loves horses.
This is a wonderfull place to stay. Because of the house (what a house!, what a history!) Because of the position of Lamberhurst: so easy to take the train to London from Paddock Wood and so close to very interesting historical places (castle Bodiam, Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle). And last but not least because of Carol and Clive. Although we didn't see eachother a lot, we could tell in the little things that they are very warm hearted people: walking together in Lamberhurst all together with the dogs, sharing the enthusiasm about pooh (winnie), suggesting (good!) places to eat breakfast (that place at Bewl's was simply marvellous!) or dinner. The information they wrote on their Airbnb is correct and truthfull and has permitted us to plan our city/countryside trip in advance. A place to return, absolutely!
Thank you so much for your lovely review, also so useful to have your views on Bewl Water, as we haven't had breakfast there, so we can help other guests. As I have said in your private review, would love to see you again. Useful feedback on house rules too.
Carol and Clive, together with their friendly dogs and cats, provided me with a comfortable and convenient base for hospital visits to my mother. Horse and Groom Cottage is a charming adaptation of a pub I had known decades ago. As a healthcare professional Carol was helpful with advise as to future care for my mother and as hosts they could not have been more considerate and welcoming. Lamberhurst remains as beautiful an English village as I remembered it and I look forward to returning under more cheerful circumstances.
We have lived here for 17 years and have enjoyed living in what used to be an old pub and still has many of those features. Main interest is theatre both on and off stage and heavily involved in what what goes on in the area. Enthusiastic cook and enjoys entertaining, always looking to have fun.
