This is a romantic houseboat-experience an oase of rest in the middle of the city. You will have the most beautiful view over the Amstel River - Amsterdam is the Venice of the North. The studio is very light and you wil experience living on a boat.
AT THIS HOUSEBOAT YOU HAVE A PERFECT VIEW ON THE RIVER, IT IS VERY LIGHT AND YOU CAN EVEN FEEL THE SUN INSIDE - IT IS A OASE OF REST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY
The houseboat Ark van Amstel has a studio/appartment at the most beautiful canal of Amsterdam: the Amstel. This appartmen has a seperate entree with two levels. The first floor is the living with Kitchen and the best view at the Amstel. The second floor is downstairs with the bedroom and little bathroom. The Ark van Amstel is an oase of peace and nature on the water in the middle of the big city. It is at the Weesperzijde, one of the most special places near the Amstel. This part is very popular because of its different bars & restaurants. They call this place the part with the most ours of sun in the city. At the other side of the bridge there is popular part of the city De Pijp – like Quartier Latin in Paris.
At this side of the Amstel you can have a very special walk along Stopera, Hermitage, Carre Theatre, Amstel Hotel, Amstel Tower finishing and you pass by all kind of popular terraces, like a famous and typically Amsterdam Cafe Hesp.
At the first floor there is kitchenette with fridge. You can make coffee tea and we will arrange for you some fruits, crackers and yoghurt for breakfast. But for the best breakfast or brunch there are 2 places at the other side of the street:
Beter& Leuk at Eerste oosterparkstraat (website hidden) - they have the best bio & honoust products. Or the IJsbreker at the Weesperzijde (website hidden) - where you can have nice scrambles eggs.
Tram and metro are both close-by.
If come by plane to Schiphol, you can get a schiphol-taxi for € (phone number hidden).
Or you can take the train to Amsterdam Zuid or Central Station and there take the metro 51 to Wibautstraat. From there it is only 5 minute walk to the houseboat.
If you come by car it is better to park you car just outside the city and take a metro. Metrostation "OverAmstel" has a metrostation of metro 51.
You will have your own privat entrance.
You have acces to the whole appartment and feel welcome to make it your home. You can use everything. There are a lot of Books about Amsterdam where to go.

Smoking is not allowed inside, but you can smoke outside - there is a bench at the shore.
Washing and drying - there is a washer in the street where you could easlily drop your washes and pick it up clean.
There is free wireless internet, please ask me for the password if you are interested.
Feel at home and you can use everything, but we would appreciate it when you leave the appartment clean and clean the dishes you used.

The houseboat was great! The description was spot on to what it was like. After a busy 10 days of traveling and staying in hotels, it was so nice to have a coffee maker (with coffee provided) and a mini kitchen. We were able to walk the 5 minutes to a grocery store which is right next to the metro and get some food for one dinner and stuff to pack sandwiches for our days out in Amsterdam. It was fun and relaxing to watch the ducks and and other activity around the boat. The downstairs where you sleep was very quiet and nice and cool. The shower's water pressure was really high too.
My only suggestion would be to add a shade to the front windows similar to the one that is on the side window. We came back to the house boat to rest around 5-7 each night before dinner and it was very very bright and hot. We wore sunglasses and even sat facing the couch :) When the sun went behind the buildings right around 7 it was perfect. I am sure during winter and cloudy days it would be fine without though.
We would stay again!
The reservation was canceled 20 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Beautiful view to Amstel river, but note this is not very spacious apartment. Suits for romantic stay for couples.
I went by reviews and hence thought I'd put mine too .
The location is good and walking distance from the town centre. The view from the top rooom of the canal is the best part. The bed was comfortable.
There is a room downstairs with steep steps going down from the upstairs room which was a challenge for me to handle.
There is no sink in the bathroom,so one has to go upstairs in the kitchenette sink to wash hands, brush teeth and shave.
The host speaks good english but was not communicative enough and quite reticent. When I enquired about how to get to any place ,her standard response was 'Take a taxi' .
During the first day of my visit I was woken in the morning at 7 AM up by a huge (website hidden) was caused by handymen doing some hammering, drilling & reparing some lights near the enterance to the house.Since it was a planned thing I feel she could communicated this to me earlier.
This was my first stay and the last in a house boat .
In future I will probably prefer something is much less than £ 125 per night which is what I paid
A fantastic experience, the couch on the upper floor is one of the nicest thinking spots in the world, and I was warmly welcomed by a genuinely nice host and family. If its available for your dates in Amsterdam, book it now before its snapped up!
I am Masha and have two kids Boaz (5) & Luca (3,5).
I live on the Amstel for 8 years. First we lived at a real boat, a sailing ship. We were in love of this place because of the oase of peace & nature in the middle of the city. But because of kids coming the ship became too small for 2 kids, so we started to realise an ark, this took about 1,5 year. On the 1st birthday of our daugther Luca this Ark was shipped to this place and still we are enjoying and we even love this place more and more.
I am a personal life coach, trainer and freelance project manager. My passion is to create indivudual, and social changes.
