The Space

We are as close as you're going to get to the Ballston metro station on the orange line and its major bus hub. Why bother staying anywhere else? You don't have to dread walking in the heat, rain or cold! We are easily accessible from DCA Reagan National Airport and Union Station. The Neighborhood

Ballston is one of the safest and busiest neighborhoods in the DC area. The Ballston Commons Mall is right across the street, which has a movie theater, ice rink (where the Capitals practice so you can catch them some mornings) and a food court. Many restaurants are within a 5-minute walk (PF Chang's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Uncle Julio's, Rock Bottom, etc.). Most of the restaurants are also happening bars at night. And there are three Starbucks within one block. A major grocery store is a 10-minute walk away.

The apartment is a 15-minute walk to George Mason University's Arlington campus and the FDIC, 10-minute walk to the Thai Institute of Healing Arts, and a $15-25 cab ride to Georgetown, Reagan National Airport or Union Station.

Getting around

Public transit could not be easier from our location. The Ballston metro and bus stations are literally right across the street, visible from the guest room!

Ballston is 5 metro stops outside of DC on the orange line (direct line to the White House, Smithsonian Museums and the National Mall). There are direct bus lines to the Pentagon and downtown DC. As a bonus, Zipcars and bike rentals are available right outside the building!

  • First time airbnb experience: Efficient and professional all around. Very fast internet connection. Awesome location with IHOP around the corner for those who had to get up at 4 am to prepare for work or are badly time-lagged after arrival from Europe. As a result, I saw very little of the hosts or vice versa.

  • It was an amazing experience for me. Erika is really a nice and helpful host. I felt at home. I would certainly want to stay there again next time when I am in DC area.

  • I absolutely enjoyed my stay with Erika and Dave. The are literally a few steps from to the Ballston-MU Metro station. The room was exactly as pictured. Their place was very clean, the bed was surprisingly comfortable, and there was free coffee in the lobby of their building every morning :)

  • WOW! Erika's space was immaculate, comfortable, and in a prime location for our DC/ Arlington mini-vacation. Luxurious and convenient to say the very least. Not to mention, very flexible when we had some issues getting into the city and had to change our check in time. <3

  • Loved my stay, was exactly was I was looking for - pristinely clean, cozy and homey, very friendly, five steps to the metro line. I was a little nervous ahead of time that the bed was an airbed, but it was very comfortable - got a great night's sleep every night.

  • Erica is a wonderful host! The room isn't spacious but it's very cozy and has a nice view. The subway station is just around the corner, there are a lot of nice places to eat nearby. I had a great time!

  • Erika is a very nice host and the room is very clean! Will definitely come back next time when visiting DC! Highly recommend to others if you visit Ballston area, especially NSF.

  • I had a very enjoyable stay, and Erika and Dave are friendly and very helpful hosts. It was easy to communicate with Erika before I arrived. Moreover, even before I asked, she sent info to make sure I’d have an easy time getting to their apartment – I appreciated her foresight. Their building is near the Metro and simple to get to. I appreciated how close it is to a pharmacy and many restaurants; dinner at one Erika and Dave recommended was delicious. The bed is very comfortable and the room’s curtains and blinds can make it very private or can be opened for floor to ceiling views. I enjoyed the Beatles anniversary show and the Olympics on the living room’s large TV. As a whole, the apartment is very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend Erika and Dave, and I hope the room will be available the next time I’m in DC.

  • Erika was very inviting upon my arrival and gave me a tour of her condo and several of the building's amenities. The guest room was cozy and private, and the view from all of the windows was great! I was very busy while I was in Arlington, and so were Erika and her boyfriend, so we either didn't see each other or it was brief when we did, which made my stay seem even more private. I would definitely stay there again!

  • I didn't have a chance to meet Erika, but she was very helpful and responsive in all of our communications. She even offered to give me detailed directions from the airport. The apartment was very comfortable and accommodating. I'm very pleased with my experience.

About
My fiancé and I have been using Airbnb since June 2009. We are big fans and will not travel any other way! We are both graduates of University of Virginia and George Mason University. We love to travel, learn new languages, try new food and host fellow travelers from all parts of the world and background. I spent part of my childhood in Taiwan so I can speak Mandarin and Taiwanese, but I consider myself a DC/northern Virginia native. I have been to just about every tourist attraction in DC, so if you have any questions about activities during your visit or restaurants in the area, just ask me!
