The artist's studio is a lovely space right on the water of Lake Five. Have dinner on the porch! This space is perfect for 2 adults with or without 2 kids. Comes with full washer dryer as well! This is our top rental, book now for 2023 fun before it fills up!

The space
A classic 1960’s cabin, just remodeled. 550 SQ fT and literally on the shore of the pristine waters of Lake Five. A short 30 min. drive from the airport to The Whistle Stop Retreat & then adventure or relaxation awaits! The Studio Cabin is only 10 min to the entrance of Glacier. Claim your own stretch of Big Sky Country at this sprawling family compound, never before rented to guests. Chock full of cheeky vintage charm and nestled on the banks of Lake Five, this mountain hideaway sets the scene for both big-time adventures and low-key relaxation.

Choose from the main lake house and three cabins; rent just one cabin or the entire compound which can include the tower and caboose, you choose! And though you’re escaping to Mother Nature, you’ll have all of the modern world’s appointments—like a washer, dryer, WiFi and BBQ grill.

Swan dive into cool lake waters from the dock, launch out from the boathouse, or go on a walk through tranquil forests. Dogs, horses, boat, smiles, whatever friend or possession you want to bring along, we’ve got room for them! Please message us for more details regarding bringing your pets or your own boat.

Daytime is for adventure; evenings are for connecting. Call your crew back to the main house for old-fashioned togetherness, then whip up dinner in a classic kitchen where pops of color and bright patterns make mealtime fun.

Al fresco or indoors, you pick. Retro-style charm and a fireplace round out the eight-person dining area, and multiple patio tables offer a spot to kick back and dig in with the great outdoors as your backdrop.

When the weather’s fickle or the sun has set, curl up in the cozy living area with a good book or a board game from our collection. Walls of windows let you keep your eye on the view.

Montana’s all about wide open spaces, so of course there are no cramped quarters here. With 23-acres of land and, six separate cabins we've got plenty of room for everyone.

The Main House sleeps up to 12, with two queen-size bedrooms, a sleeper sofa in the living room, a third bedroom with a twin bunk and twin trundle, and a full bath. The Main House also features a newly remodeled upstairs, that features five twin bunk beds, ensuring that everyone has space to spread out!

The Artist Studio is a quaint standalone spot, situated right on the water’s edge and offers stunning views from a generous deck. The studio sleeps up to 4 guests and features a loft with a full-size bed and 3 twin beds in the main studio area, plus a 3/4 bath, efficiency kitchen, and laundry room.

The Cozy Cardinal Cabin, perfect for 2-4 people features one king-size bedroom, a living room, and a full bath.

The Quelle Barn, a retreat of its own with two queen-size bedrooms, spacious living area with sleeper sofa, a full bath, and an efficiency kitchen.

Each space has it's own dedicated fire pit and free firewood.

These are clustered together with a boathouse and dock system on 11.5 acres, the adjoining 11.5 acres has the tower and caboose and RV/Shop with another dock system.

Boredom? Never. With 1,700 sq. ft. of lake frontage, you could spend whole days swimming, splashing, and boating to your heart’s content, or just put down a towel on the dock, and soak in the sunshine—our dock is brand new and includes a platform with diving board, just in case you want to challenge the crew to a cannonball competition.
Our boat house has a manual lift, so bring your boat along and get out on the water without hassle. And if you don’t have your own boat, you can go low-tech with our standup paddle boards or canoe or rent our ski boat.

With winding trails over glacial mountains, an iconic 52-mile road through the Continental Divide, and a nearly 7,000-acre lake, Glacier National Park is nothing short of magical. And it’s only a 10-minute drive from our compound. Drive past postcard-perfect landscapes of mountains and glaciers on Going-to-the-Sun Road—keep an eye out for the park’s beloved mountain goats and other wildlife. Paddle in the shadow of the mountains on the crystal-clear waters of Lake McDonald. And see the backcountry first-hand on the unforgettable Iceberg Lake Trail.

From horseback riding to rafting, this stunning stretch of country is paradise for the outdoor enthusiast. Dream up a way to connect with Mother Nature, and you’ll find it here. And once you’re done adventuring, make your way to West Glacier Village for locally sourced eats and take-home souvenirs.

Lake Five is 3 miles from the west entrance of Glacier National Park. This lake abounds with water fun from water skiing and tubing to paddling or paddle boarding. The water is the warmest around and clean - even try your hand at fishing. Whistle Stop Retreat sits on 11.5 acres with a main house and 2 other cabins, with 900 feet of private shoreline, there is no other place like this for your vacation to Glacier!
