I had a wonderful 3 weeks staying with Emily. What a lovely house and the care that she took to make me welcome. The wood house, in the traditional style, is tucked into a garden where Emily grows her own vegetables. It is just such a beautiful and peaceful place.
My room looked onto fields that stretched into the distance and to the blue mountains. Either side were trees just beginning to show their spectacular Fall Colours.
In the mornings we fed the little chickadees who flew in to feed from her hand while the chipmunks stayed around to hoover up the the remaining seeds!
Then we returned to the breakfast table to enjoy eggs, homemade bread, and milk from the local farm for our coffee.
Emily is the most kind and understanding hostess. My daughter who lives in Rutland was also welcome to stay as often as she liked. There are wonderful walks nearby where you can see deer and the occasional moose.
My room had a large comfortable bed and an en-suite shower with plenty of hot water. Downstairs was Emily's kitchen where she often baked muffins for our breakfast and sometimes she made lots of soup and asked us to stay and eat with her In the evening.
There were always flower arrangements picked from her garden in the bedroom and living areas. A real 'home from home'.
Emily's kindness did not stop with all the comfort: When I found that all the flights from Rutland to Boston were already booked for the day of my departure, she offered to drive my daughter and myself to Lebanon which is 2 and a half hours drive to take a coach which took me directly to Logan Airport, Boston.
My stay with Emily has not stopped there - we have become good friends and agreed to meet up in the New-year in Spain! What luck for me to find such an amazing airbnb.
Emily Jackson’s serene country home in the heart of Vermont offers a gem of a place to stay. From the fantastic location in the heart of ski country to the stunning views of verdant pastures and grand mountains from every window, Emily’s home feels like the vacation home you’ve been coming to for years. Add to the equation her home-made, scrumptious breakfasts (which saw us through until dinner) and her warm, easy-going nature; and you come up with a five-star rating. We prepared dinner both evenings in her well-stocked cook’s kitchen and enjoyed a generous harvest of veggies shared from her garden. On our way to play golf we stopped by Cider Days, the big event happening in town. It was a cool way to experience the “real Vermont!” Time spent back at the house learning about gardening, composting, hosting folks and living with simple extravagance was a gratifying surprise for both of us. Emily shared her master gardener knowledge from years of living this (website hidden). Holly will be our first choice for future stays in the Okemo, Vermont area. Life smiles and laughs in this lovely home…
To stay at Emily's B&B is a wonderful experience. She is warm & welcoming and generous with her helpfulness and time. The location was ideal for a 'Vermont Visit', breakfast was excellent and varied, the room clean & comfortable, the bathroom perfect and overall it represented excellent value for money. I can highly recommend a visit to this 'home away from home'. Did I mention the view? Fabulous!!
Emily's home is beautiful with great grounds and view. The bed was very comfortable. She is warm and helpful. She made me delicious gluten free apricot muffins for breakfast, yum.
If I am ever in her area again I will return to her home.
We had a short but great time with Emily. Her house is just fantastic, the room and bathroom are large, neat and cosy and the view on the garden and the landscape further is wonderful. She welcomed us like friends and as soon as we arrived we felt at home. Emily is a very interesting woman, curious about everything, she even woke up in the middle of the night to watch falling stars!
My first impressions were of the flowering plants that surround the house. Emily showed me the room and I was impressed by the neatness and cleanliness. I was very pleased. I had to rush out to attend a wedding rehearsal dinner; however, I had more time the next morning to enjoy breakfast with Emily -- farm fresh eggs, homemade bread, and a view of the far hills. Chipmunks busily gathered sunflower seeds placed on the porch railing and challenged each other to dive into the flowering bushes. Quite a breakfast. That evening, when I returned after the wedding, Emily served Ben and Jerry’s vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries. I’d recommend this Vermont retreat.
Emily went out of her way to make our visit a memorable one. We called her from the grocery store in town where we were buying a chicken to eat in our room. She said we could use her kitchen, dining room, and offered to fix vegetables from her garden to go with our chicken. The drive to Emily's home is gorgeous. She was waiting for us to help us park. She welcomed us warmly and showed us upstairs to our room. The views from our room were stunning. The bed was very comfortable. We went downstairs with some wine and cheese to share and Emily brought out homemade pesto. We sat in the living room and got to know one another. Later, Emily began stir frying vegetables for our dinner. We ate together and had enjoyable conversation. For dessert, Emily made an ice cream sundae with delicious liqueur. The next morning, after breakfast eggs (local, farm fresh chicken eggs of course) and toast and great coffee, Emily drove me to the next village to use the ATM. It was charming and I would have loved exploring more had there been time. But the highlight of our overnight stay was spending time with Emily. I highly recommend this Green Mountain B&B.
