Kerry and Marty were extremely accommodating, considerate, and helpful hosts. They went out of their way to make us comfortable, and we felt like we were staying with friends. The garden and animals were so beautiful...Also the food was delicious; the eggs Marty made were absolutely legendary!
I wish I could have spent more time at Kerry and Marty's place - such a cool spot out in the countryside! They were amazing hosts too, so friendly and really welcoming - they even cooked dinner!
The house itself is everything promised in the photos and heaps more... friendly animals (pigs!!), breathtaking views across the valley and a super comfy bed... what more could you need? I'll definitely be back!
Great hosts and lovely food. If your heading north from Wellington and need a place to stay that's peaceful and a great country experience then this is for you. The pet pigs, dog, sheep and horses plus ducks were fun to see in the morning too.
Good stories kept us entertained and there is no BYO charge for corkage haha!
To be honest I'm not even sure where to begin with this amazing experience. The farm house is a getaway dream. So peaceful and quiet. Yes, a tad out of the way but I would make the trek back in a heartbeat. The room and bed were super comfortable. But really, its the hosts, Kerry and Marty (along with Mono the lab and Barry the lamb) that make this such a memorable experience. To be honest, I was quite sad to leave as it felt I was leaving old friends!
What a fabulous experience! We regret only having booked 2 nights with Kerry and Marty.
Our boys (2and 5 year old) had a blast. They were busy bottle feeding the baby lamb, playing with the friendly dog and checking on the pigs, geese and horses, collecting firewood for the BBQ in the evening and playing at the swing below the garden tree.
The place has a huge gorgeous garden which settles in beautifully in the serene lush and green surrounding hills.
We loved their home made breakfast muesli and home made marmalade.
Kerry was not around but Marty was the perfect host. Thank you so much.
We loved the rural setting of this home. Kerry and Marty were very welcoming and even greeted us with a terrific pasta dinner! Totally unexpected. They were a friendly laid back couple. The bedrooms and bathroom were so comfortable. We loved the tour of the farm the next morning. What a wonderful spot.

We are a couple living in idyllic Central Hawkes Bay. Marty works on the surrounding farms and is a jack of all trades, Kerry works as a NZ sign language interpreter in the Manawatu and Hawkes Bay regions.
