Our house is located on a quiet dead end street on the top of Bernal Heights. It was built in 1948 on the Sunstream model and has been fully remodeled into a contemporary dwelling in 2005.
It is filled with sun through large "loft style" new windows overlooking the back yard and the green Bernal hill park. It's easy to sit in the couch and watch people and doggies run up the hill !
You can also step out on the sunny deck and enjoy lunch and brunch outside overlooking the yard and the hill park.
We have a freshly remodeled bathroom with skylight and kitchen with a great stove for cooks, dishwasher, microwave, etc. . the dining area features Charles Eames chairs ! Overall the house is styled with a mix of contemporary, 50's and "industrial antique" furniture pieces.
We have a master bedroom with a queen bed and a kids bedroom with a double loft bed. We also have a sofabed in the living room for 2 extra people. All mattresses and pillows are sealed for dust mites allergies.
We have a baby portable crib, lots of kids toys and a stroller you can use. The house has wifi, a TV (but no cable) and Netflix + Apple TV hooked to an awesome screen and projector.
Washer and dryer in the basement.

We loved it here! A beautiful home in what feels like a secret San Francisco neighborhood, Bernal Heights offers all the charm of a small town (people actually say hello to you on the street!) whilst being easily accessible to everything the city has to offer.
Sandrine was a wonderful host, her neighborhood tips were a wonderful place to start to explore the city, the home is drenched with light, super well organized, kid friendly and beautifully designed with a lovely deck and lower garden, huge windows overlooking Bernal Hill and the city below. Arguably the best butcher in the city is just down the hill, along with one of the city's best organic grocery stores, so you can take full advantage of the well appointed kitchen to cook if you don't feel like hitting one of the areas many cute cafes or restaurants. BART and the MUNI buses are close by as well, so you can easily get to wherever you might want to go. Street parking is easy as well, if you've got a car.
I could go on, but I won't. I will certainly recommend this place to friends and would stay here again for sure.
Sandrine’s place is a haven of peace right off Mission in charming Bernal Heights. Very unique, we loved it there! We were in SF for work during Pride and the city can get busy and noisy during this time of the year. Bernal is a quiet neighborhood and the house has modern windows that isolate from any street noise (for SF, it’s a real treat, I used to live there in an old Victorian with old windows that were letting through cool air and street sounds). The backyard is wonderful.
Highly recommended, would totally stay there again!
We stayed 5 nights and parking was a bit tricky twice (weekend), we spent 20 min looking for a space nearby. But again having lived in SF this is pretty easy in comparison to other neighborhoods.
What a beautiful home! Situated close to everything, BART, Mission St. and gorgeous views. Has a wonderful grill/firepit that made our stay extra special. Host were very thoughtful and provided plenty of info for newcomers and seasoned Bay travelers alike. Highly recommended!
