This is a quiet residential neighborhood yet close to restaurants, shops and public transportation. Guests are expected to respect the quiet and refrain from loud music or gatherings on premises.
Close to famous Haight/Ashbury neighborhood, Golden Gate park. restaurants, shops, cafes.
Underground streetcar and many bus lines nearby. If you have a car, there is street parking but you may have to park a few blocks away. Parking is difficult and costly in San Francisco and you really can do without a car.
Bed and bath only. There are no kitchen facilities other than a small refigerator.
Interaction with Guests
We interact as much or as little as the guests want. We find that most people value their privacy and meet us to ask about restaurants, etc. but do not expect us to take them around town or hang out with them. We are an older couple but love to meet new people and are happy to share our home.
The neighborhood is located in the geographic center of SF. There is even a statue a few blocks away that is supposed to be the center of town. Considered "Ashbury Terrace" by those who like fancy names, we are just a few blocks from the original Haight Ashbury but far enough away to feel like you are in a quiet suburb.
Lots of buses and underground trains to take one to all parts of the city.
no pets, no smoking indoors. There is only one queen size bed, so no more than 2 people please. Entrance to the room requires a code which is changed after each visitor. Code will be emailed to you after confirmation and close to arrival date.
Miriam's place was the perfect little hideout for us. I took my kid brother on a 4 day trip to San Francisco and was looking for an alternative to a hotel that had a more homey feel. The place is located in a quiet neighborhood but is still central to everything we wanted to hit (exploratorium, academy of sciences, etc). Miriam's explanation of the muni for public transportation makes it super easy to go directly downtown or most anywhere in the city from there. Miriam was very easy to reach and caring. She came down to check on us on our second day and was always available to answer questions both before and during our stay. Thank you for having us!
Miriam is a wonderful host! It is a cute basement apartment and the location is great! There were really cute restaurants in the area that aren't touristy and are really nice. Miriam made us delicious little brownies right when we got there. We felt welcome and at home. I would recommend this apartment to anyone and would definitely stay there again!
Miriam and her husband are friendly hosts and the apartment is located very close to haight street (walking distance). The bed is comfortable and the apartment is spacious.
Lovely room, exactly as it looks in the picture. A great base to stay and explore with private entrance and bathroom. Great location with easy links to transport. Would stay again!
The place was great, just as described. Very close to great restaurants and local attractions.
