About this listing
Our AirBNB space consists of a bedroom with a queen sized bed, a private bathroom, and a sitting room that has a sofa-bed that can be used for a third guest or couple travelling with you.
Guests are welcome to relax upstairs with us if they wish - the living room photos are of our upstairs sitting room, not the small one that is downstairs for your private use.
Mostly we just have couples stay and use that space to themselves.
Welcome and thank you for checking our listing!
We have a bedroom with queen sized bed and access to a private bathroom. Your private balcony is overlooking the Barwon river which offers you amazing views. In addition to your bedroom you can make use of small sitting room with TV. What we will be sharing is the use of the fully equipped kitchen (with owners). The house has two levels, with a few stairs between.
Available only to 3 or 4 people of the one group: we can accommodate 1 or 2 extra persons in sofa bed, if you are all willing to share your bathroom with each other. There is an extra cost of $50 per night for this.
We also have a single folding bed which would be suitable for a child travelling with parents - no additional cost.
There is parking outside of the property in a safe, quiet court location.
What to do:
House is located in a picturesque suburb 3 km from downtown Geelong. Find out more about Geelong from the VisitVictoria website.
Less than a 30 minute drive to start of the Great Ocean Road, one of the great Australian attractions and offers the most spectacular sightings you can imagine. The house is even closer to Bellarine Peninsula where you will find beautiful beaches, farms and wineries.
How to get to us:
We are less than an hour by car or train to downtown Melbourne. 70 minutes from Melbourne's International (& Domestic) Airport and 30 minutes from domestic airport at Avalon near Geelong. The Airport buses link Geelong to both airports.
We are looking forward to welcoming you.
Guests have their own bathroom. There is a balcony off the guest bedroom and sitting room. There is a small fridge downstairs for guest use.
Interaction with guests
We let our guests decide how much they wish to interact. Most guests arrive in the evening and we tend to see more of them in the morning at breakfast - it is up to you how much you want to spend time with the hosts.
We love the views from our home. Also, there are lovely walks beside the river.
There is extremely limited public transport to access our home. Most of our guests have been travelling in their own cars or hire cars.
Other things to note
No regular public transport within walking distance of our home.
No smoking inside.
Cleaning fees only applied in exceptional circumstances.
Use anything you like in the kitchen but please clean up after yourself. Put your dirty dishes next to the sink and we'll take care of it from there.
Eat as much of the breakfast items as you like but please leave the other items.
Cleaning fees only if needed.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
In our spare time together, my husband Les and I enjoy walks, cycling, playing and listening to music, attending music events, movies and some TV watching, and travelling locally, interstate, and overseas.
I (Alison) have lived for periods in the Netherlands and Canada some years ago. We have both travelled a bit to other parts of the world, and in 2011 we enjoyed a wonderful trip to the UK and south of France. We hope to visit the USA and Canada in 2013.
Les has retired from the work force and he plays golf at least two days a week. He is an accomplished leather artist, and spends time in his leather workshop here at home. He also plays the mandolin, and particularly loves Irish music.
I work full-time at the moment.
We love our present home in Highton (a suburb of Geelong). We have great views from our home of the Barwon River, across Geelong and to areas beyond. Our home is a short drive to the start of the Great Ocean Road, as well as to the Bellarine Peninsula with its beautiful beaches, farms and wineries. It is less than an hour's drive or train journey into downtown Melbourne (which is less than it takes from outer Melbourne suburbs). About 70 minutes drive to Melbourne's international and domestic airport, and less than 30 minutes to Avalon airport (domestic travel only, at this stage). There are airport buses between Geelong and these airports.
