Art Escape is a ceramic arts retreat (bed & organic breakfast) in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in Montana. AND it's only 38 miles from Glacier National Park.

Think fun and creative or quiet and contemplative.

Your stay includes use of the ceramic studio where you can completely immerse yourself like never before, a lesson to get you started, use of the kitchen, and a choice of several organic breakfasts.

Perfect for singles or couples. The kitchen and bathroom are shared.

The space
Studio Room (Room 2 of 2)

NOTE: We have two rooms so if this room isn’t available, please check out our Art Escape Buffalo Room here on AirBnB.

NOTE 2 RE Rental cars:

This area, like others around the country, is having a rental car shortage. If you're going to need transportation, please arrange it prior to booking. Places to call: rental agencies, car dealerships, Lyft.com rentals, other car sharing sites.

If you're staying with us to do ceramics, and your flight gets in at a reasonable time, we can probably pick you up and drop you at the airport.

The space:

It's peaceful here...that's our favorite thing and what guests tell us most often. You'll immediately feel like you're home. We've provided everything you need (we hope!) for a relaxing stay, whether you use the ceramic studio or not (though we encourage you to do so probably because WE love to play with clay so much).

There's green everywhere you look in spring to fall, fall is stunning to say the least and winter, well, winter is just down right beautiful.

Come enjoy our favorite place on earth...our home...with us.

Getting here:

You’ll be driving through a gorgeous wonderland when you reach the entrance of Art Escape. We’re about 1.5 miles up Tally Lake Rd from Farm-to-Market Rd.

If there’s snow, it’s no problem. The road is virtually always plowed but depending on the weather, you’ll may need a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Good snow or studded tires on a 2-wheel car seem to do just fine also. Feel free to message us prior to booking if you're concerned about driving here.

Organic Food:

We strive to create an environment that supports wellbeing and that’s why we’re proud to offer you the same organic hot cereal mix we eat ourselves. Everything is 100% ORGANIC, very high fiber and gluten-free, made with:

Oatmeal, quinoa, buckwheat, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, raisins and fix’ns … Ceylon cinnamon (the healthy kind), almond milk, maple syrup, and butter! Yum.

Your organic homemade cereal will be waiting for you when you wake up in the studio refrigerator in single-serving containers. You can warm it up using the stovetop or the microwave.

Doctor it your way in your own semi-private kitchenette. (Kitchenette is actually part of the ceramic art studio.)

You can bring whatever food you want to prepare including chicken, pork or beef, but no fish. The kitchenette is right in the studio and Steve can’t handle the smell.

The house used to be a barn so it has some cool lines and features. It's well-insulated in all seasons.

There is plenty of parking right outside of the Buffalo room. The room, bath, and kitchen area are all on the main floor level so there are no stairs required to access the room.

THE CERAMIC STUDIO

We have several areas set aside to work with clay. The main studio area is where you’ll probably be most comfortable. It’s equipped with everything you’ll need to be creative.

If you want a lesson, let us know. If you want to be left alone, no problem at all. We totally get it.

If you stay for a week or more, we include one 25# bag of clay, bisque firing (one shelf in 24 x 36 kiln). If you aren’t here to fire your finished piece, we can do it for you and mail your piece to you (shipping extra).

If you're here for a shorter stay and simply want a lesson (extra fee), we include clay and tools. What you create and end up with really depends on you. If you're a beginner, expect a great experience. If you're have some or a lot of experience, well, you know what to expect!

What else you really should know:

• Unlimited Hot Water! We have a new on-demand system that means you will NEVER run out of hot water. Not only that but the shower is large and there are two showerheads, so shower with a friend!

The Kitchenette:

• We've done our best to equip it with just about everything you'll need to cook a real meal so that you can just stay here and relax rather than going out. We've provided the basic herbs you may want: salt, pepper, garlic (hello) and whatever else previous guests have donated.

• There's coffee and tea, both regular and decaf of both plus creamers and sugars (no fake ones though...yuk) for your enjoyment as well.

• This room is located directly under the kitchen of the main house. You can expect to hear normal kitchen sounds including the possibility of a juicer and/or a blender AFTER 7 AM. If you are seriously looking for a place to sleep in past 7 AM, this may not be the best choice for you.

• We are actively creating and playing in the new ceramic studio so are busy in the house and outside after 7 AM.

• The queen mattress was new this year and it’s in great shape. Everyone loves it.

• NOTE ABOUT INTERNET: Our rooms are hard-wired with DSL internet (which is plenty fast). We have adaptors for computers if you don't have one. Wifi is available in a pinch but we prefer you use the ethernet (it's faster anyway). Wifi, if it is turned on, goes off at 9 pm each night.

Where you’ll be

Whitefish, Montana, United States

We have a few neighbors within a mile or so. Mostly critters most of them are harmless.

That being said, we carry bear spray just in case when we hike into the woods.

I am responsible as they come. My mom taught me to leave things in better shape than I found them. My boyfriend, Steve, and I love to explore and meet new people when we get the chance.
