As the beautiful swimming beach stretches south it transforms into a spectacularly accessible landscape of smooth rock pools which fringe the base of Burleigh Head National Park. All easily explored, and a great spot to watch the surfers from!

The space

Welcome to Burleigh Heads!

We (Graeme & Vivien) have a comfortable bedroom available in our two bedroom apartment in the beautiful 2nd Avenue Beachside Resort located right opposite the great Burleigh Heads beach.

The room contains two single beds. You also have your own private bathroom, free wi-fi availability and use of our kitchen during your stay.

We are located on level 8 (Unit 8C) so the height is comfortable and not scary. Our building has an outdoor pool as well as a newly renovated indoor area incorporating a well heated pool, hot spa and a great sized steam room. The resort also has a full sized tennis court as well, should you wish to avail yourself of yet another opportunity to exercise!

Street parking will be a must, and we have middle of the road parking in Second Ave as well as curb side parking on the Gold Coast Highway.

There is great public transport via Surfside Busses and light rail to either Surfers up north or just by bus to Tweed Heads down south. If you use the public transport system then you may wish to buy a Go Discover Gold Coast Card for $10 per day as that offers the cheapest travel costs, and can be used on the bus and light rail. However if you wish to also travel to Brisbane by train then you would want to purchase a Go Card. The cards can be purchased from most 7/11 convenience stores as well as other outlets. The closest 7/11 store to us is on the corner of 5th Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway.

The Gold Coast airport is some 15 minutes south, and apart from taxis, Surfside Busses (bus 777) which leaves from outside the Domestic Arrivals area and a Shuttle bus which leaves from outside the International Arrival section of the airport.

If you want the cheapest transport from the airport then we recommend that you buy a Go Discover Gold Coast Card from the GC Tourist Shuttle bus desk for $10 for at least the first day of your stay.

During your stay, depending where youn wish to travel you may wish to buy a Go Card which can then be top-upped on-board with the bus driver, but you need to do that before you tap-on and do remember to tap-on and tap-off every time you get on and off the bus.

We recommend that by the end of your stay you only have a maximum of $30 on your card (including the issuing fee), as at the end of your holiday you can take your card to either of the following local agents and you will receive a refund on any remaining credit, as well as your full deposit:

. Nextra Burleigh Heads - Stockland Burleigh Shopping Centre

. Varsity Lakes Railway Station (Booking Office)

Please note that the refund will be paid in the same manner in which the Go Card was purchased, either by cash or refund to your credit card account. ]

The GC Tourist Shuttle bus counter is also the place to go to pick up free brochures for discounts and the 'Get Around Guide'.

The Gold Coast Airport transport and Information desk is right outside the International Arrivals and you can see their friendly staff for either the Surfside Buslines or Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle tickets.

The Surfside bus number 777 leaves from directly in front of the Domestic arrivals/baggage collection area at the terminal and the bus runs to Broadbeach South Terminal every twenty minutes between the first and last flights of the day, connecting to other services on the Gold Coast Highway. that runs from the airport right up past our Resort at Burleigh Heads to Broadbeach - we are the second stop after the main Burleigh Heads stop, and the stop is called 'Second Avenue' and our Resort is directly across the road.

The bus departs 01, 21 and 41 minutes past the hour every hour during the day except for public holidays when you would need to check with Translink to confirm the departure times.

Should you decide to catch the Shuttle service the cost will be around $20 each however you may find that you would rather get here quicker and arrive right at the front door of the Resort by taxi at a cost of approx. $45 for the two of you.

If you are travelling by train from Brisbane you would catch the Gold Coast train and exit at the end of the line at Varsity Lakes and then catch the number 765 bus service to The Pines that travels along Christine Ave to the Gold Coast Hwy and then travels southward. Do make sure that you exit at the Third Avenue bus stop which is less than 200 metres north from the resort, which is located on the corner of 2nd Ave and the Gold Coast Hwy.

When it comes to attractions, the Gold Coast is full of them and they range from Theme Parks to the Outback Spectacular horse show, fishing cruises to even Whale watching (in season) PLUS so much more.

As for food, there is a nice Take Away place across the road for the quick hamburger or serve of fish and chips and we also have two top surf clubs and a number of eating places within walking distance.

For those of you who prefer some vegetarian food there is a great shop in James St Burleigh Heads called Govindas Pure Vegetarian and a number of our guests have commented on how good it is. Then, if you want to really go up market, we even have a revolving restaurant in Broadbeach that not only provides great food but also great views of the coast and hinterland.

We guarantee that apart from working on your tan you will love chilling out here as there are plenty of books and DVD's to keep you going should you wish to do nothing but kick back and relax!

Before you consider staying with us we ask that you not be offended if we ask upon your arrival to see proof of your identification, and we must also add that we do not rent to people with brand new Airbnb profiles that do not contain a photo.

In return, from our end we also undertake to post a 'guest review' on how we felt about your time with us, and as you may already be aware, you have the same opportunity to do the same with us. By doing this we trust that we are assisting everyone else when it comes to future bookings, both for you as a guest and for us as hosts.

Now for some back office information. Should we pre-approve your booking you can accept this instantly for 24 hours by clicking the Book It button in the message thread of our reply to you. If however the pre-approval has expired, you can simply send a reservation request as normal and that will allow us to approve it as a Special Offer.

It’s important to remember that any pre-approval is not a confirmation of your booking as you must still agree to the terms of the reservation and submit payment information to Airbnb, following which the reservation will change to “Accepted” in Airbnb's records.

In relation to WiFi access, the Resort has it's own connection under the heading 2nd Ave Wireless and we will provide you with the necessary lower case password and log in words. Previous guests have found that the system is not the fastest but we have found it adequate for our use. Likewise, some guests have also found that there has been the occasional dead spot in their bedroom but everywhere else the reception has been fine.

The last thing you need to consider and take into account is that while the resort is addressed as being at 3 Second Avenue, the physical location of the resort is on the corner of Second Ave and the Gold Coast Highway. This means that street noise may be a factor and even though we are located on the eighth floor, some may still find this unpleasant. To this end ear plugs can help and we do keep a couple of them spare especially for this purpose, should the need arise.

As far as the Resort goes you will be able to have full access to all the facilities that the Resort has to offer, these include:

Interaction with guests

As both Viv and I work, our time available to spend with guests does vary but we do make ourselves available to assist you as much as possible bearing the above in mind.

Other things to note

Arrival and departure times.

We are fairly flexible on arrivals and departures as we like to assist guests enjoy their time at Burleigh Heads no matter how short or long their stay is. The catch is that we both work and we do want one of us to be home to welcome you to our place on your arrival, so please do not be disappointed if we cannot allow you access at the time that you would like.

Another thing to take into account is that often we have a check out and in on the same day. This has not been a problem in the past, but all we ask is that you give us time to clean the bedroom and bathroom before you occupy your room. Your luggage can be left in the Lounge area in the meantime, while you kick back with a coffee or stronger and enjoy getting to know the Resort and the beautiful surrounds.

We don't believe in many house rules as we believe that the type of guest that uses the Airbnb system is well educated and well seasoned pursuer of great holidays, and accordingly knows how they should act in most given situations.

Nevertheless here are some points that we would ask you to respect:

. We would appreciate no smoking within the unit as well as on the balcony.

. Music in the Lounge area to be via headphones unless we all agree otherwise.

. The shower and bath taps MUST be turned off tightly after use as if not a mystery puddle will quickly appear under the hall carpet. :(

. Resort rules are definitely to be adhered to, this is especially important as often what we do can impact on others and we want everyone who stays in our Resort to have a great holiday experience.

. Please be aware that the Pool & BBQ hours are from 7:00am - 9:00pm.

Please use the simple worry and stress free guide, 'if in doubt...ask'.

. The Fire evacuation sign and diagram are on the inside of the front door to the Unit and you are encouraged to familiarise yourself with the escape route and meeting place.

. Maximum stay can be negotiated.

Due to illness, I unfortunately did not get the opportunity to stay at Graeme's place however; I felt compelled to write a review as his hospitality went above and beyond anything I've experienced on Airbnb. Prior to arrival Graham was gracious enough to provide thorough and detailed directions to his accommodation, was readily available and was extremely prompt with his replies. Upon hearing about my (extremely) last minute cancellation, Graeme was sympathetic, gracious and most understanding - even going beyond what was required of the refund cancellation policy of Airbnb and refunding my money entirely through a seperate transaction. I can understand why he has and his earned super host title! I most certainly look forward to staying with Graeme one day in the future.

Graeme and Vivian were excellent and experienced hosts that provided a beautiful private room with electric blanket books to read and a safe room with a view. The bathroom was clean fresh towels and good greater in the shower. They are knowledgeable about Airbnb and only stayed for one night but felt very welcomed. Their apartment is ensconced in a luxury resort with heated pool sauna etc. I had a nice walk to Burleigh Heads Outdoor kiosk and enjoyed the coffee and sunshine. This is great value accommodation and location locationmade my stay worthwhile.

It's a lovely place. I highly recommend Graeme's home. The room is very clean and the location is good. U can take bus to airport directly. Also, I love the homemade juice provided each morning. That's pretty nice. Graeme also provided us a lot info which helped a lot.

Great host!! Graeme is so kind and he helped a lot. I could see a beautiful view from the apartment. It was amazing!! I drank fruit juice that he made. It was very delicious. When I left there he gave me a gift which is very nice. It's my treasure. I had such a great time there. Thanks a lot!!! I'd like to stay again if I come to Gold Coast!!

I am a 69 year old and married to my wife Vivien for over 40 years. We moved from Melbourne to the Gold Coast over six years ago and are really enjoying the weather and the lifestyle.

When it comes to exercise I do enjoy the odd game of tennis as well spending time one day a week outdoors at the Mosaic Baptist Church where we attend as members. I also do some part time afternoon and evening cleaning work at Kings Christian College which is also located in Burleigh Heads.

I am also working on expanding a small personal 'set and forget' web site that we believe will become well known over the next few years.

In relation to music I love the big ballad sound such as the early Bee Gees, as well as the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Abba and the list goes on...

For reading I do enjoy motivational and self help books as well as the occasional science fiction.

We also enjoy Timeshare as it not only allows us to travel but we also know that we will have a certain standard of accommodation, however, since we have become involved with Airbnb we are looking at having some future short term stays with fellow Airbnb hosts when we travel.
