  • This place is the best place in Punta del Diablo!! If you want to go there, stay at Martins and Alessandros house. I lived a few weeks there and it was the best experience I ever had with traveling airbnb. Martin is the best host you can imagine. (Alessandro was abroad to work.) Incredibly friendly, with a big heart and a big smile on his face. He fetched me from the bus station, I arrived really late, but it was no Problem for him. In the next weeks I got every morning a fantastic breakfast at the living room of their house, fresh fruits and warm bread, with a breathtaking view to pine trees with little green parrots and the ocean. My room was beautiful. Clean, very quiet with the nice sound of nature in the background and a nice hammock, where I relaxed every day. The beach is just a small walk from the house, just like some bars, supermarkets and restaurants. Also there is the big and beautiful national park of Santa Teresa just a few steps. Martin was so nice, to show me and the other guests the park, when we had some rain. Also he cooked pasta for us and made wonderful apple flans, that made us forget the bad weather. Also, he helped me with my spanish or to get my bus tickets back to Argentina, or organized some medicine, when I was ill. One day we had a bad storm over Punta Del Diablo. It was better to change the house. He organized for me a beautiful new cabana, where I could stay, while the heaven went crazy...
I could go on like this for hours with one very honest result, I will definitely will come back to Martin and Alessandros house!!

  • We stayed for a short two nights at Alex & Martin's, the location was exactly what we needed: a relaxed house right near playa grande but near some good restaurants and off the crazy tourist path.. Hosts where very timely, friendly and paid special attention to our needs. "Closet bathroom", chill out balcony in our room and the excellent coffee and toasts at breakfast were great extra surprises..

  • On the plus side:
Alessandro and Martin are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They sent us direct links to reserve bus tickets and helped us understand the system. They gave us great directions to good restaurants in the area and explained a lot about the local flavor and customs. As Americans who speak little Spanish and no Portuguese, we were appreciative of their excellent English skills.
Alessandro's coffee was the best we had had since in South America.
The beds were fair and the room fine. We really enjoyed our balcony and the quiet location that is a short walk to the beach.

    On the minus side:
Internet access at the house is nearly impossible. The wifi available is for the whole block and very weak at almost all hours of the day.
The room is not air conditioned and though the temperature was fine I left with many mosquito bites despite using the netting while asleep as there are no screens on the windows. For many people this is not a problem but bugs have an unusual attraction to me. My travel buddy had not bites at all.

Bring your own beach umbrellas as the beaches do not rent any!

Bottom line: The accommodations are simple and clean and the hosts kind and friendly.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Martin, who was an intrusive and kind host. Punta del Diablo is an absolute gem. Somewhere that is the right blend of untouched, but accessible. Highly recommended!!

  • Martin and Alessandro are the nicest, most helpful hosts, they will welcome you with a smile and you will feel comfortable and relaxed to share their house. The nicely designed house is well located in a quiet neighbourhood with walking distance to the beach as well as to the main drag. Beaches here are wild and unexploited. Breakfast, which includes a natural yogurt was much appreciated. Highly recommended!

  • Martin was an incredible host! His welcoming ways and comfortable personality made us feel like we were in our own home. His B&B is in a fantastic location in Punta del Diablo, which is a 3 - 3.5 hour scenic drive from Montevideo. It is a short 5-7 minute walk to Playa Grande and a 7-10 walk into town. There is not a lot of traffic at the B&B and the Sta. Teresa Park is very close by. Both rooms in the house are spacious and very clean. There is wonderful outdoor space for guests to enjoy and the shared living space is quite ample and very clean. Our trip was a huge success and we owe much of it to Martin. Thanks and we hope to see you soon because we plan to visit Punta del Diablo again in the future.

  • Martin is a wonderful host: attentive, kind, sensitive. Even though his dog had been bitten by a snake he managed to receive us making sure someone would be there if he was not. He has all the information you need to enjoy the area and he has training in hospitality that shows. the house is in a great location, not too close to town, near the military reserve which is great for hikes and biking, and close to one of the best beaches. Can't recommend more

  • To put it in a nutshell: We had a perfect stay at Martin & Alessandros place in spring. Location is in walking distance to the beaches and the center of the village with two supermarkets, the fishermens sales shops and restaurants and cafés nearby. With your own car it is just minutes away to the National Park or Laguna Negra. No matter the weather with a perfect host our stay was wonderful. While we did not meet Alessandro, Martin did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible - starting with a full breakfast each morning ending some evenings in a joint home cooked dinner by the fireplace, together with another guest we met there. We highly recommend Terraferma to anyone that seeks a calm and cozy stay embedded in a wonderful landscape.

  • We spent four nights in Punta del Diablo and it was great. The house is clean and cosy, Martin and Alessandro have put thought put into every detail in the house and the result is an absolutely beautiful home.

Martin and Alessandro picked us up at the bus stop and took us back to the bus stop at the end. You can see the Ocean from the living room and from the room upstairs which has a balcony. And at night time you can see the wonderful sky full of stars from the house!! We had a good time in Terraferma, and we enjoyed our evenings chatting away with the hosts by the fireplace. Perfect place to chill out for few days and enjoy the company of such interesting people. The breakfast is good, plenty of choice.

The beaches there are great and Playa Grande is very close, only few minutes from the house. We were lucky and saw two penguins while in Punta del Diablo!!

Thank you so much to Alessandro and Martin!!
