  • I stayed at Sachin's place for 2 days upon arrival in India. The apartment was already rented out so I was offered to stay together with Sachin and his family in their apartment, which I was very happy for. I got my own room and had my own privacy, but at the same time I felt highly accepted as a part of the family and we had such a good time and good conversations together. On top of that, Sachin's mum is a wonderful cook.
Sachin himself is the perfect host and guide. He came to pick me up in the airport, unexpectedly. He is such a great guy and always up for good and inspiring conversations. As a female traveling alone I felt very good and safe in his company. He is extremely helpful in any situation and really does the best for his guests. It is easy to sense that his job is his passion.

So, if you go to Mumbai I will strongly recommend you to meet this guy and stay at his place.

  • Sachin was a wonderful host. His small yet comfortable apartment is just the right venue for someone who wants to experience the true Mumbai experience. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not it. But if it's a 5 star experience you crave, this is the place for you. Sachin goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable and ensure that his guests arrive safely (he went with me to the airport at 3:00 AM on a Friday morning to receive my sister).

He will accompany you around the city and show you the sights of Mumbai. One reviewer earlier mentions that he accompanied them and then did not tell them about payment until afterwards. That was not true in my case. He was upfront and said as this is how he makes his living now he does expect to be compensated for the services he provides beyond just the room (which you've already paid for). It would be crazy to expect someone to give up their entire day (or multiple days) to show you around and I would challenge you to find another host that would a) be willing to do so, b) be as knowledgable and c) charge such a fair rate.

I would definitely recommend staying with Sachin and experiencing Mumbai through his homestay whether it be a weekend trip or a multi-month excursion.

    Response from Sachin:

    hey Josh,

thank you very much for your time to write such nice words about my place and me.
i hope you and sarah are well.
i wish if we could meet again in coming days as you are in india only.
If you need any guidance for exploring any particular location of India like Himalayan ranges, rajasthan desert, or any of beautiful states in north east india or any location in india, feel freel to message or call me. I will be happy to help you.

  • The Apartment is okay, it got everthing you need for two person. The place is noisy and because there is no AC you need the window open in the night and the fan running. You need earbuns to sleep. The cleanes was okay for India, if you have never been here you maybe will be shocked but you will hardly find a place like this for the same price. There was no internet when we arrived but he made it up for us. The place looks better on the pictures than in real but for the price its okay. It has everything you need but is not very relaxing or luxury. The district is okay for shopping and you have a good connection to the inner city but it still needs an hour to go there. Thats normal for the suburbs and you will find no room in the inner city that cheap, its Mumbai. Sachin is very helpfull for the first days, when you are here the first time you will even need help to walk the streets. He can show you some interesting places in the city but he is not entertaining you the hole time so you should explore by yourself or get informations you are interested in by yourselft too. Sachin is interessted in outdoor activaties so you should take the chance to see some places out of the city. He also go to special festivals with you but for clubbing nights and drinking partys he is not the right guy. But maybe India isnt the right country for that also. Sachin is experienced in hosting people from abroad and knows what is important to learn first. He is friendly and open minded and get never tired to offer you trips and jouneys. He is a typical indian too and not shy to explain hisself, what realy helps to understand the culture.

  • Fantastic location, in a residential area, about an hours train journey from Colaba, with every amenity on your (website hidden) is a small apartment/studio with cooking facilities (not to western standards) but everything we needed. Sachin is considereing improvements. He is a very thoughtful and helpful host and we really enjoyed ourselves staying in his apartment,We believe that you can stay with his family also. Sachin will book any tour throughout the whole of India either travelling independantly or with him, and will also book your travel arrangemants.we were sad to leave Mumbai, as we had such a great time and were welcomed by the whole community, who invited us to celebrate Holi with them.

  • The stay at Sachins place was great and my grading would be better if the ending would have been better.
The room was ok, unfortunately no western toilet, but we were able to arrange with that :)

The kitchen was fine, wie didnt use it, because we were there only for 2 days. But if you would like to cook something there, dont worry, the kitchen hat everything you need. The beds were ok and he provided towels, water & toilet paper.

Sachin is a really really nice guy, he showed us arround, which was really kind of him. I liked him very much.

BUT on the last day he asked us for money for "guiding" us around. Which we didn't know and didn't expect. If we would have known that in advance we would have explored everything by ourselfs, because his rate was definitly not in our budget. He apologized and said we could give him whatever we wanted, but this didn't take the feeling ob being cheated away.

All in all, great stay! Thank you Sachin!

    Response from Sachin:

thanks for your review/message positive and negative both.

Its unfortunate and sad to read negative reflection from your side in-spite of I cleared the things.
I have hosted so many guests from almost all part of world also many from germany but never had such kiddish and excited reaction as your friend, Carolin gave me.
It seemed like she was more xcited and happy to blame me.
It simply showed her immature mind.(I still feel this must be more idea of her to write negatively)
First thing i want to say, whatever small conversation happened on last day between you and me was already sorted out after i told you that, "just forget what i said about money" and you also know that you also have not paid any money either after that, so everything sorted out there itself.(Rs.200 you kept in room after you left, I am sure I have spent more than that on your train tickets, water bottles and on cab on the tour day or also may be in restaurant)
There was no question of cheating as i told you that i forgot to say about fees and i also told you that as its big problem for you then you don't have to think about any money what I told and
Also in fact you and your friend didn't pay an either,
So there is/was nothing at all as such like cheating and was no need to stretch those things further in negative way
And there was nothing to apologize from my part about when i cleared the things.
Also I would be happy if you would have dared to write that I spent almost 15 hours from morning 6.30am till night 9.30pm or more in showing the city.
Also I never pressurized or forced for anything.
Also it would be good, that you would also have mentioned that fees i told you (on next day after tour which i said that I forgot to tell you) for guiding the city for whole day (Rs.1500) which was out of your budget.
So I also told you just forget the thing I told you about money and you also did the same thing that your just forgot and also you did not pay me any money either. (on which I felt peaceful and happy after that)

on all I will say, this is unfortunate and sad for me
And kind of experience that in spite of being genuine and honest and at certain extend more nice with guests,
also there are possibilities that one can get blamed unnecessarily at an extend being called as cheater. Which is very unfortunate and Very Sad!

  • I stayed at Sachin's place for the first two days of a month long trip in India. It was a fantastic first start to my journey, and Sachin spent a lot of time with me in those two days. He is a very pleasant person and easy to talk to. I received a great introduction to Mumbai and India from Sachin. The apartment was well prepared for my arrival, and he was attentive in making sure my stay was comfortable.

I would recommend to anyone to come visit Mumbai and spend some time with Sachin. He'll help you discover the India you are hoping to find. Thanks, Sachin :)
