This stand alone cottage was once a stable for cows. Nestled in the Lantau Island foot hills, this country get away sleeps four and is only 40 minutes from down town Hong Kong. No roads! This is the ultimate in rural Hong Kong village life!

In the above photo you can see the cow shed on the right. It is a one story cottage which you will have all to yourself. There are two bedrooms and a private bathroom. The area of the cow shed is a total of approximately 250 square feet.
The entire cowshed, with its two bedrooms and private bathroom are rented each time.
The larger bedroom is approximately 140 square feet and the smaller one 120 square feet.
There is no proper kitchen in the cow shed but we provide a hot plate, a mini fridge and a toaster oven in the main cowshed room for your use.
You share the walled garden with the owners. The main house (on the left in the photo and two stories tall) is only available from 7 to 9am. Your getaway is surrounded by banana plantations and farmer's fields. There are beautiful beaches and great restaurants to discover in Mui Wo Village and South Lantau. Amazing hiking right from your door step.
A ten minute bike ride takes you to the Mui Wo ferry pier and from there, it is a short 30 min comfortable ride to central. Mui Wo is also accessible by road from the Airport (30 min cab ride at 130 hkd) and is 30 min bus ride from the major train routes. For arrival by taxi, please ask your driver to drop you at the Mui Wo Wet Market, the actual market is marked as 'Mui Wo Market' only and it houses the Sports Center and Library. This is a good pick up point for travelers. However, the house is only accessible on foot or by bike over concrete village path. When you first arrive in Mui Wo town, we will escort you on the walk through villages and farmers fields.
Children are welcome and kids under 3 stay free.
Total peace and quiet with knowledgeable hosts who can point you in any direction you need to take.

Elissa and Morgan were excellent hosts. The cowshed was just what I was looking for - quiet, peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. I'll be back!
perfect for some time away from the hustle and stress of the city. Great hosts who are easy going and flexible. Would like to recommend this stay and already did so to my friends :)
Elissa and Morgan were wonderful hosts! And the cow shed was just the retreat I needed for the weekend-- I'm definitely looking forward to my next trip back!
I enjoyed my stay at Elissa and Morgan's place. At first I was little worried that the 20-ish minute walk to the bus terminal and ferry pier would be inconvenient, but the house is in a cool local area surrounded by trees and stuff so it was actually quite enjoyable. I always pictured Hong Kong as just a big city with bright lights but as it turns out they have forests and cows walking around and stuff! I also didn't expect there to be such nice beaches, but there are several nearby that take less than an hour by bus.
I have no complaints about the inside of the Shed. It had a shower, an air conditioner, and beds for me and my friends to sleep in and was clean. My friends and I were out most of the time anyway, but there was enough space inside for us to relax and unwind comfortably after a long day of exploring.
Elissa and Morgan were very nice to us as well. They recommended some places we should visit were very pleasant to talk to. They were having construction done in the main part of the house, and they were nice enough to ask us what our schedule was so they could have the workers come when it wouldn't wake us up or bother us.
I would definitely stay here again (^_^)
The Cow Shed is a brilliant place to stay and experience a different side of HK. It's in a stunning village, near the beach and the hosts are wonderful. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family
Lovely quiet place to chillout and relax but close enough to Mui Wo and the great restaurants and beach. Also great for island hopping to nearby islands and Lantau Island itself, where you can see the big buddah of course and Tai O the quaint fishing village and the amazing pink dolphins. Very easy and cheap to bus to these destinations from Mui Wo
Super nice place on a 25min walk from Mui Wo ferry. (It was a little challenge with all we luggage we had, but the hosts came pick us up with their tricycle :-)). The road to the house becomes more and more nature, until arriving at the place, surrounded by trees only... It really is a relieve after all the crowdedness in the city (and at only a 40min ferry ride away). The cowshed (where we stayed) was very nice, cosy and clean... And they even prepared some food and drinks for us in our own little fridge! Very cool welcome! There is 2 bedrooms, which totally can easily sleep 4-5 persons. Loved the mezzanine bed. The bedroom was clean, with good, hot water (which we needed after all the walks). We fell in love with the hosts golden retriever (Pan). He's such a cuty! This place is for sure my first choice for my next trip to Hong Kong! Just loved it!
