In the above photo you can see the cow shed on the right. It is a one story cottage which you will have all to yourself. There are two bedrooms and a private bathroom. The area of the cow shed is a total of approximately 250 square feet.
The entire cowshed, with its two bedrooms and private bathroom are rented each time.
The larger bedroom is approximately 140 square feet and the smaller one 120 square feet.
There is no proper kitchen in the cow shed but we provide a hot plate, a mini fridge and a toaster oven in the main cowshed room for your use.
You share the walled garden with the owners. The main house (on the left in the photo and two stories tall) is only available from 7 to 9am. Your getaway is surrounded by banana plantations and farmer's fields. There are beautiful beaches and great restaurants to discover in Mui Wo Village and South Lantau. Amazing hiking right from your door step.
A ten minute bike ride takes you to the Mui Wo ferry pier and from there, it is a short 30 min comfortable ride to central. Mui Wo is also accessible by road from the Airport (30 min cab ride at 130 hkd) and is 30 min bus ride from the major train routes. For arrival by taxi, please ask your driver to drop you at the Mui Wo Wet Market, the actual market is marked as 'Mui Wo Market' only and it houses the Sports Center and Library. This is a good pick up point for travelers. However, the house is only accessible on foot or by bike over concrete village path. When you first arrive in Mui Wo town, we will escort you on the walk through villages and farmers fields.
Children are welcome and kids under 3 stay free.
Total peace and quiet with knowledgeable hosts who can point you in any direction you need to take.

Amazing and friendly haven from the hustle and bustle of HK. We didn't want to leave! We will definitely come back!
Elissa and Morgan are friendly host. The cowshed is also close to many hiking trails. Thanks for the great stay!
This is a nice place to stay if you are laying over in Hong Kong. Even if you live in Hong Kong you might like this place’s rural location. It would be good for getting out of the concrete jungle for a weekend plus the Hosts are very nice people.
It’s about 25 minute walk from the Mui Wo ferry & bus terminal and about 15 minutes’ walk to a taxi stand. About 85 percent of the way to the B & B is paved rural footpath with no cars allowed. There are several forks and turns in the road, so it might be a good idea to use your smartphone’s GPS to remember your location. You might also want to takes some mental notes of your location as you are walking towards town. Also if you will be out late ask the hosts to leave the outside light on.
Everything you need is in Mui Wo. There is a food court, two supermarkets plus several other bars and restaurants. The host’s helper Sally might meet you at the Ferry terminal and assist you with your luggage using a three wheeled bicycle.
A taxi to the airport is about 25 USD and takes about 45 minutes and is a very pleasant drive along the coast and over the mountain.
Depending on what I'm doing in Hong Kong, I would definitely stay here again.
Elissa and Morgan were excellent hosts. The cowshed was just what I was looking for - quiet, peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. I'll be back!
perfect for some time away from the hustle and stress of the city. Great hosts who are easy going and flexible. Would like to recommend this stay and already did so to my friends :)
Elissa and Morgan were wonderful hosts! And the cow shed was just the retreat I needed for the weekend-- I'm definitely looking forward to my next trip back!
I enjoyed my stay at Elissa and Morgan's place. At first I was little worried that the 20-ish minute walk to the bus terminal and ferry pier would be inconvenient, but the house is in a cool local area surrounded by trees and stuff so it was actually quite enjoyable. I always pictured Hong Kong as just a big city with bright lights but as it turns out they have forests and cows walking around and stuff! I also didn't expect there to be such nice beaches, but there are several nearby that take less than an hour by bus.
I have no complaints about the inside of the Shed. It had a shower, an air conditioner, and beds for me and my friends to sleep in and was clean. My friends and I were out most of the time anyway, but there was enough space inside for us to relax and unwind comfortably after a long day of exploring.
Elissa and Morgan were very nice to us as well. They recommended some places we should visit were very pleasant to talk to. They were having construction done in the main part of the house, and they were nice enough to ask us what our schedule was so they could have the workers come when it wouldn't wake us up or bother us.
I would definitely stay here again (^_^)
The Cow Shed is a brilliant place to stay and experience a different side of HK. It's in a stunning village, near the beach and the hosts are wonderful. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family
