About this listing
Your bijoux getaway is a one story cottage in our fully private garden. 10 min bike + 30 min ferry ride to Central HK. A 15 min car free nature walk to taxi and bus. The 250 sq foot cowshed is just off hiking trails and is surrounded by nature. A rare find!
On your walk to the property you will pass farmer's fields, old style villages, cows and if you are lucky water buffalo. But you must walk or bike!
This is a way of life that is fast disappearing. Come and experience it for yourselves!
This stand alone one story bijoux cottage was once a stable for cows. We are right in the middle of nature - hiking trails, waterfalls and sandy beaches all nearby. Yet by fast ferry Mui Wo is only 30 minutes to Central Hong Kong! Our comfy hideaway is in a large walled garden which itself is surrounded by fields and plantations. We are completely private from the nearby village. The cowshed sleeps 4 and is only 10 minutes by bike to Mui Wo town with it's shops and restaurants. If you are walking you are a 15 min car free stroll to Mui Wo Village with restaurants, playground, beach and taxi/busses. You are a 20 min walk to the ferry pier and/or beach/supermarkets. The walk to the property itself is a stroll through an old style of living that is rare in Hong Kong. You will pass farmers fields and small villages. If you are lucky you will see our feral cows and water buffalo. The town of Mui Wo is only 30 minutes by road to the International Airport.
The cowshed is tucked up in the South Lantau foot hills near the village of Tsoi Yuen Tsuen. The property has been beautifully renovated recently. There is one bedroom with a double bed. There is a private bathroom with a shower. The main room has the kitchen and a sitting area with a double pull out sofa. Double french doors lead to the garden. You share the walled garden with the owners who live in the house right next door. Our house is visible from some of the cowshed windows.
The area of the cow shed is approximately 250 square feet, so it is a small but cleverly renovated space. The entire cowshed, with its bedroom, full kitchen, living room and and bath room are rented each time. The living room is approximately 140 square feet and the bedroom is 120 square feet. The open kitchen has a two hob gas stove, large oven, microwave, mini toaster oven, water kettle and filter coffee maker for your use.
There is an outdoor garden table with sun umbrella and six chairs. Please feel free to use it. If you are long stay you may find we use it ourselves from time to time.
Children and pets are welcome and kids under 2 stay free.
Total peace and quiet with knowledgeable hosts who can point you in any direction you need to take.
Access to the property is from a private path. Both the owner's house and the cowshed are accessed through the garden. Guests have full access to the cowshed and the large garden. The garden is shared with the owner. Our dogs live with us in the main house and we have two cats living with us in the main house as well. Our animals do not live in the cowshed but we welcome guests pets.

I'm a (We are) fun loving neo-hippy(ies) (that is what my partner Morgan says to write!).... We've lived all over the world and chose Hong Kong for a reason. Come find out why! We love to host and can point a traveler in any direction needed in Hong Kong and the entire Asia region! Sharing is what it is all about. We are film makers and teachers. We do have busy lives so we combine just the right mix of meddling (so that you are comfortable) and staying out of your way (so you can be yourself). Life motto? Dunno: do it with passion.
