Even though compact and bijou The Cowshed easily accommodated our family of four. Everything we needed in the kitchen too. Super pick up by their friendly helper from the ferry.
Our kids loved riding on the tricycle everyday and digging in the beach.
We loved the peace and quiet.
Thanks so much.
Very nice little country house with comfortable living room and open kitchen. I can really relax and got a nice rest in the weekend. Morgan and Elissa and their helper Sally are very nice.
A very nice place! We were warmly welcomed despite our changes of schedule. Thanks Sally for picking us up in late evening. We had a very pleasant weekend and love the warm, quiet, peaceful village atmosphere there. I especially love the kitchen (and the oven!). This place made our romantic getaway possible, and memorable :) Thanks so much :)
This place is exactly as described - it's a real luxury retreat in the middle of the most amazing little town! The location is incredible - it's a rural, jungle, island paradise, totally charming and different from the busy city part of Hong Kong. We were met exactly on time at the ferry by Elissa and Morgan's lovely domestic helper Sally, who rode our heavy suitcase up to the house, so check in was very easy and non-stressful. Sally also helped us out with a couple of things when we were there, and made us feel very welcome and easy to ask questions. AND the owners have the most gorgeous dog who we absolutely loved cuddling - great place to stay if you love animals :) The place also felt very spacious and peaceful after staying in the middle of the busy city! Comfortable beds, too! Amazing place in the most charming location, highly recommended.
1.) I was made to feel very welcomed.
2.)the young lady Ms.Sally went out of her way to help me settle in as I was their for 1 month.
3.) very clean ,ever thing ,worked ,many
4.) A nice family The owners.
Elissa and Morgan were traveling but Sally was there to help us out. This is definitely a remote location, it took us around 35 minutes walking from the pier to get to the house. But we had some things already in the fridge when we got there which was great after a long trip and knowing that the supermarket was back at the pier. The Cowshed id very nice and it has all you need. Our first night was rough because the Cow Shed had some sewage problems, and the bathroom was smelling. Our young kids seemed more susceptible to it and were coughing a bit. So Elissa and Morgan were gracious enough to make other arrangements for us, and we have a very pleasant experience the rest of the week. Mui Wo is beautiful, exactly what I was expecting. It is a mountainous region with plenty of trails, and a beach. I felt really safe and I saw a lot of kids just playing around without their parent nearby. My wife and I would seriously consider living in this area because of the peace and tranquility. And it is "close" to HK, the fast ferry takes about 30 min and there is service throughout the day. The Cow Shed's location is a bit far from the ferry pier. The host provides a trike for your use, but we had a double stroller and two 18 month olds, so we were not able to use it and we ended up walking a lot. If you use the trike or rent bikes from the local shop, it will be much easier on you because all the restaurants, grocery stores, etc are near the pier.
We do tell all our guests about the length of the walk. Most people really enjoy it. Too bad you couldn't fit the two babies on the tricycle! Pan could have run along side you. The bad smell in the bathroom was dealt with pretty much as soon as you mentioned it even though in that part of the country side it is a bit of a miracle to get anything done quickly. Although the smell was gone we kept you in our main house, with it's three bedrooms and two floors and a roof garden and main garden which you had all to yourselves for most of your entire holiday.
Glad we could help make your stay enjoyable!
Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed five nights at Mui Wo. We chose it because of proximity to friends, and were totally unaware of Mui Wo's rural charms. The accommodation is comfortable and practical, with a totally renovation completed just before we stayed. It was 'cosy' with four people, given the small size of the rooms, but adequate for our purposes. The outdoor space was useful and the kids enjoyed playing with the dog. I'd thoroughly recommend hiring bikes (the shop is near the ferry, beside "kitchen" restaurant) as it is a solid 30 minute walk with kids from the ferry. The bike riding was a fun, unexpected experience for all of us, winding through narrow lanes on the way up the hill. Our hosts were unobtrusive but helpful, and Sally the helper was always more than willing to assist. Stay for the unique accommodation in a unique village offering a glimpse beyond HKs glitter that few see.
I'm a (We are) fun loving neo-hippy(ies) (that is what my partner Morgan says to write!).... We've lived all over the world and chose Hong Kong for a reason. Come find out why! We love to host and can point a traveler in any direction needed in Hong Kong and the entire Asia region! Sharing is what it is all about. We are film makers and teachers. We do have busy lives so we combine just the right mix of meddling (so that you are comfortable) and staying out of your way (so you can be yourself). Life motto? Dunno: do it with passion.
