Welcome to my fully renovated bungalow, which is nestled beside the dunes and overlooking the peaceful Irish Sea.
The property benefits from Wifi, satellite TV and a landline telephone. There is an automated gate, hedge and fences surrounding the beautiful 3/4 acre lot.
There is a large sheltered deck off the conservatory and the beach is accessible through the dunes, just across the road. The house is a ten minute drive to both Arklow and Wicklow towns, with all they have to offer; pubs, restaurants, some fine dining and all your shopping needs.
The European Golf Club is just down the road, with a dozen more courses within a 20 minute drive.
If you enjoy outdoor pursuits then you will love the area; there is hiking, hill walking, horseback riding, and of course beach-combing in the area. Access to the beach is just across the road.
County Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, is nestled on the east coast. Covering an area of 782 square miles, Wicklow has a dramatic landscape of rugged hinterland mountains sweeping down to a golden coastline of cliffs and sandy beaches. The unspoiled countryside in Wicklow has several world class golf courses, the most famous of which is Druids Glen Golf and Country Club - host to the Irish Open Championship from (phone number hidden). The rivers and lakes in County Wicklow provide excellent coarse fishing and game angling. Sea angling is available off the coast.
Michael and Jane are fantastic hosts. They are very responsive and helpful and have arranged things perfectly (keys delivery, instructions, etc.) to make this a great holiday for us. The place is fantastic, very quiet and right on a beach. The house is also very cosy and personal, it has a nice garden and a "deck" from which you can enjoy sea views from one side and views over green fields and mountains from the other. Thank you Michael and Jane for letting us stay at your place!
We had a fabulous stay in Michael and Jane's house. They were so friendly in communication with us, and so obliging meeting us in a different location to collect the keys. The house was beautifully presented, clean, well looked after, and they had provided us with a fantastic house manual to help us settle in. The house itself is fabulous, loads of space to spread out, lots of different rooms to relax in, so great for a couple's weekend away, or for a family to enjoy. It's only about a ten minute drive to Arklow for all your shopping, and it's literally right on the beach for a lovely afternoon walk. Can't recommend this house enough for a get away. Thanks for having us, we'd be delighted to return some day!
We enjoyed our stay in Michael's and Jane's wonderful house totally! The house itself is so beautiful and the loaction - incredibly! It was a pleasure to meet Jane - thank you for your kindness!
And for those who want to spend some days near the sea, but not far away from lots of acitvities: That's the right place to be! Just one hint: You should like to cook as restaurants and/or pubs are not really Close.
We stayed at Driftwood in Wicklow for a little over a week, and it was absolutely wonderful. Communication with the owners was fantastic through airbnb messaging; they even checked in with us at about the middle of our stay to make sure everything was ok. The owner met up with us en route to the house from Dublin to coordinate the dropoff of keys. We arrived and found some lovely pastries and a clean house. The kitchen is well-equipped for short- or longterm stays (pots and pans, dishes, a coffee pot, etc.). We’ve stayed at a lot of airbnb places around the world, and this is one of our favorites. The rooms were perfect for the adults AND for the kids. The kids room had bunk beds, and our daughters LOVED sleeping in there. The rooms had blackout curtains, which really helped in the early morning so the girls would sleep in! The beach is just across the street, down a little trail nestled in between the dunes (I actually spent a couple of hours one day bringing rocks up from the beach to improve the tiled trail down to the sand). The place is very secluded and quiet. Loads of rabbits and birds around the place. We spent hours on the beach without running into a single person. The patio is a great place to relax and have a glass of wine and stare out across the ocean. On rainy days, we enjoyed hanging out in the sunroom, which stayed plenty warm even when it was a bit windy and wet outside. You will need a car if you plan to stay here. Arklow is about a 10 minute drive, and it has everything you need. We stocked up with groceries at Aldi in Arklow, and there is a great butcher in the mall next to Aldi (yes, in the mall) that had some fresh local meats. The drive to/from the Dublin airport is about an hour from the house. We’ll be back in Ireland soon, and would love to stay here again.
Amazing location , very accommodating hosts , great house with amazing views , fast response from host , extremely helpful with the setting up procedure , the booking and general information , beautiful family home .
Perfect as always
We had a great stay at this coastal Wicklow cottage. Sea lions(seals?) in the ocean, and a mother and pup in a nearby cove added to the enjoyment. Easy access to Dublin and the mountains, made this place an ideal base. Our host, Michael, was communicative and supportive and our visit went very well.
Beautiful, well equipped seaside home. Micheal commuted quick. He was very informative. Great place to relax but still take day trips through Southern Ireland. House is set up well for family or two couples traveling. I would highly recommend Driftwood and hope to someday stay there again.
Beautiful setting, extremely comfortable and Michael was fanastically helpful with everything i asked for.
