Architectural guesthome made of steel and glass overlooking nature reserve. Two bedrooms with cozy queen beds, clerestory windows, two bathrooms, kitchenette with fridge, DW and microwave. Views of the sparkling pool, jacuzzi, sauna and bbq area.
When you arrive at our gate, you may think that you are lost - we are at the end of a country road just down from a couple of commercial nurseries and it doesn't look like there should be a home here. Don't worry! The gate at the street is a bit away from our home. Once we are notified of your arrival time, we will meet you at the gate to escort you to the guest house via a dirt road through a eucalyptus forest. We will provide you with a gate opener so you have easy access thereafter. Our home and guest house are situated on 9 acres, directly behind an organic nursery that supplies central coast farmers and we also are adjacent to a golf course community. We sometimes hear ATVs on nearby Pismo Dunes and sometimes hear the sounds of the nursery workers. Otherwise, it is a quiet, peaceful haven we enjoy. The rooms are located in a guesthouse separate from the main home. Privacy and space - perfect for a family of 4 or two couples on a weekend getaway. The main guest bathroom has a huge soaking tub with hand shower and the second bathroom with shower is located below the bedrooms next to the pool and sauna. A cheery kitchenette with refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave and a dining area complete the guest house. Each bedroom is equipped with a wood burning fireplace and cozy terry robes. Wireless WIFI is available and a Bose wireless speaker is provided for music lovers.
We are convenient to many wineries in Arroyo Grande (Laetitia is only 2 miles away!), Edna Valley and Paso Robles. You can drive your car or ATV on the beach in Pismo, kayak, sail or relax on the sand in Avila, or enjoy farm to table meals at many fine restaurants. San Luis Obispo County is home to so many different events - from vineyard parties, farmers markets, local music and food festivals and so much more. You will never be bored!
We can tailor your stay to your liking - from complete privacy to providing you breakfast, happy hour libations and appetizers to even booking your own event using our outdoor entertainment area. We have a state of the art bbq center, large redwood slab bar area, and a fire pit big enough for 18 - 20 people to sit around comfortably and enjoy. Just check with us for availability and pricing for extra guests.
You will have full use of the entire guesthouse and can enjoy the firepit, bbq, sauna, jacuzzi and pool. We live in the main home, and would like to keep our spaces private.
We do love visiting and talking with guests, so please feel free to knock on the door or sit with us at the fire pit or bbq center.
Interaction with Guests
We will be here to guide you from the gate to your home away from home. We will show you around, answer questions, help you with dinner or activity suggestions. You tell us how much you want to see us or not.
We love that we truly don't have neighbors in the traditional sense. Everything about our home is different and in fact, part of your "adventure" will be entering through a eucalyptus forest, traveling through the back of a huge commercial nursery and entering our driveway through even more trees! If you arrive after dark, it will be really, really dark as there are no street lights - we truly are out in the country. It may seem a little odd or even weird, but once you are here, the nursery is all but forgotten. You will see a partial view from your room of the adjacent golf course, but other than that - no one else is around. Like we said -- private, peaceful, relaxing.
We are approximately 5 miles from Grover Beach train station, 3 miles from 101 highway, and 2 miles from PCH. We are equa-distant from San Luis Obispo County Airport or Santa Maria Airport; about a 30 minute drive. LAX is 4 hours away as is SFO.
For local tours, wine tasting, etc., we can point you to transportation providers or provide maps, directions, and suggestions.
We have ample parking so don't worry about that. Your car will get a little dirty, though, as access is by dirt road through a eucalyptus forest and staging area for the nursery.
Other Things to Note
The nursery uses lamps at night to speed growth but they cannot be seen from your bedroom. Additionally, during cold winter nights, sometimes the nursery uses large fans to protect their seedlings. You will hear them arriving and departing - they can be loud. But we have never had anyone complain about hearing them inside the guesthouse.
Renters must be 25 years of age or older - valid ID required at check-in.
Please be respectful of our neighboring nursery - do not go wandering around their premises or use their gate or hinder the workers in any way.
We value privacy and a healthy mix of fun, friends and peace. As for our home and premises --- Registered guests only on the premises and in the buildings or using facilities - so no unauthorized guests UNLESS pre-arranged by booking an event using the entertaining area - at that point, we need to talk about additional rules, cost and etiquette that will allow all of us to enjoy your stay.
We have a friendly cocker spaniel who loves humans - but other dogs and animals -- not so much. No pets allowed. Need to board a pet in the area? We can help you find that.
No smoking allowed - indoors, outdoors, any where on the premises. We have very severe allergies to it and so does our dry eucalyptus forest.
Robin and Liz were fantastic hosts and their place was even better than the pictures/description suggested! Robin and Liz went out of their way to make us welcome and to ensure that we were taken care of. We had a two year old with us and Liz even brought over some of her grandkids' toys so he was well entertained!
I would highly recommend their home to anyone looking for a unique getaway in a beautiful part of the country.
We couldn't have found a better place to spend a long weekend in wine country: Robin and Liz were incredibly generous, providing wine, snacks, and even edible souvenirs, and their house is completely magical. We felt like extremely fortunate houseguests, whose hosts have amazing taste and a spa complex that beats many hotels!
The reservation was canceled 11 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This place was AMAZING! Beautiful location, beautiful home, private jacuzzi and sauna, we were in heaven! Robin and Liz went out of there way to make us comfortable, we will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful house, great amenities, and gracious hosts, perfect place for a getaway
This was an absolutely stunning setting. One of the nicest, most perfectly appointed stays we have ever had. Robin was awesome and very helpful, and got us all set up easily and quickly. Highly highly recommended.
We enjoyed a wonderful family weekend with our two teens at Robin and Liz's guest house. Liz helped us with recommendations for activities before we arrived and welcomed us with delicious breakfast and beverage treats while we were there. Their guest home is private, beautifully designed and appointed, in a quiet secluded area, yet still within 15-30mins of Pismo Beach, Shell Beach and Avila Beach. We loved exploring the area during the day and then coming back for a swim and hot tub late afternoon before going out for the evening. Very friendly hosts and we had a wonderful, relaxing, memorable weekend with the family. One note for other parties is that there is limited common area lounge space indoors (other than a table and chairs), however we were fine hanging out in each other's bedrooms and there is ample and beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. We hope to be back again!
We are a semi-retired couple originally from Orange County. We often visited the SLO area and camped here with our children. We love the laid-back attitude, the ocean breezes, sparkling stars at night not to mention the fresh produce and wineries in the area. When we were looking for a place to live after our kids were on their own, we didn't look any further than here. We love hiking, kayaking, gardening and learning about our beautiful area here in California. We often visit local farms, are members at several of the wineries in the area and frequent small independent stores and restaurants.
We love being with our family and playing with our grandchildren. Our favorite vacation is hooking up our Airstream and taking off in any direction without an agenda so we can be open to what the world has to offer. Life is an adventure!
