Located on the edge of the historic Eau Gallie Art District, tree-lined walks to parks & pier, and two miles from Melbourne's beautiful beaches, this cozy studio apartment has a decent size kitchen and bathroom for one or two people to stay in comfort.
This is a cozy studio apartment with a decent size kitchen and bathroom, a full-size bed, dresser, small closet, TV with DVD player, a couple of chairs and small desk that can comfortably accommodate a couple or single person. The kitchen is stocked with cookware and dishes and the bathroom has the basic amenities. We have a privacy-fenced backyard and security-fenced front. Pet-friendly: $125 pet fee must be applied manually because the website doesn't automate that, yet, so please let me know so I can apply the fee. Guests that book for a month or more will receive bi-weekly cleaning, which is included in the listed price.
Guest has exclusive use of a full kitchen stocked with cookware, dishes, and some condiments, cooking oil, etc., bathroom with soap, shampoo, hair dryer, iron, towels, and washcloths, a full-sized bed, TV w/cable and DVD player and small selection of DVDs and CDs, and shares a bike and fenced-in yard with guests that may or may not be staying in the house on the same property.
Interaction with Guests
I'm not usually on the property, but I stop in fairly regularly when I'm in town, as I keep my truck and trailer there for my tree service. I'm usually reachable by phone for questions or tips. Just leave a message if I don't answer and I'll get back to you ASAP.
This studio is on the outskirts of the quaint and historic Eau Gallie Art District, home to many art outlets, the Foosaner Art Museum, the Rossetter House Museum, other historic buildings, a really nice library with computers and wi-fi overlooking the scenic river and free public fishing pier, a restaurant/tiki bar next to the pier that has good food and live music daily, other restaurants, shops, and the Intracoastal Brewery, all within a few blocks walking distance. There's a Saturday farmer's market on Highland Av. near Eau Gallie Blvd., a community indoor basketball court, and several parks and recreation areas within walking distance. There is a nice dog beach only two miles away, as well.
There are bus stops within a block of the house. Just about anything you could need is within walking distance.
Also, our cleaning fee only covers the bare minimum two hours it takes to launder the linens and towels and clean the house. Each set of linens creates another load of laundry and thus, takes more time for cleaning. Therefore, we will be charging an additional cleaning fee for each additional bedding set-up.
Other Things to Note
I'm in the process of revamping the yard into a permaculture paradise, so please excuse the incompleteness of it as we progress toward this goal.
We make every effort to offer an extraordinary value to our guests. Part of doing so is accounting for cost differentials. Not to over-state the obvious, but the cleaning fee only pays for a certain amount of cleaning time. If, upon your departure, it takes more time to return the unit to its original condition, (when you checked in), than the cleaning fee allows, or if you take or permanently stain towels or washcloths, (or anything else), with make-up, etc., additional fees will apply.
Please NOTE: Failure to adhere to House Rules may result in additional charges.
1. Melbourne is semi-tropical and prone to mosquitoes and all kinds of bugs. We do not have screen-doors. There are screens on the windows, so open them if you want, (see "WARNING" in house manual before opening them), but please keep the doors closed so the bugs stay outside.
2. When coming back from the beach, please THOROUGHLY rinse off all the sand and dry off before coming inside, (don't forget to take a towel with you to dry off).
3. If you smoke, please do it outside and dispose of the butts properly, (in the big green garbage cart).
4. If you use the dryer, please dispose of lint in the big green garbage cart. The cart is outside and to the right, as you're facing the washer and dryer.
5. The cart with the yellow lid is for recycling only. See house manual for what can be recycled.
6. If you use the fire pit, please scoop up your ashes after they cool down and put them in a bag and dispose of the bag in the big green garbage cart. Make sure all windows to the house and studio that may be exposed to the smoke are closed before starting the fire. You may use the bark and wood scraps in the can next to the fire pit for a small fire.
7. Behind the studio is my work zone, so please avoid this area.
8. Please do not put any of our stove burners on HIGH heat. The highest you should ever need is about half-way, (5 or 6, at most). You will ruin our pans if you go higher. The ONLY time high heat should ever be used is to boil water, and even then, you would not put an empty pot on a hot burner, you would have water in it.
9. Dishes should be cleaned, dried, and put away, upon departure.
Steve warmly welcomed me. Although the studio wasn't ready when he had thought it would be, it was ready about an hour later. The room was as described.
Steve did a great job on making our staying comforting. Everything described in the ad was exactly like it was stated.
Sorry for the delay... We had such an amazing weekend at Steve's place. Very cute, cozy and in the perfect location, right over the bridge to the beaches. Everything was described just right in their ad. We will be coming back soon and hopefully the weekend is open for us. Many thanks to you guys..
I enjoyed my stay here. It was clean, quiet and peaceful. Great communication with Steve. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
This is an older studio that is still in good condition. It was roomier that I had expected. WIFI was fast. I would stay again. I just don't recommend someone checking in at night, as it was difficult enough for me to do so during the day (before arrival there is lengthy set of instructions that need a good 15 minutes or more to read and absorb). Once Steve completes his privacy landscaping, the grounds will be surrounded in vegetation and even more difficult to find (neighbor has a big sign at their drive that says "go away"). There was also hanging vegetation that I had to duck around where you are to park. Hopefully Steve will have that trimmed soon. Other than that, all was good. Steve really went out of his way to obtain weekend cleaning service for my reservation on short notice. Thanks Steve!
Very functional, clean & tidy accommodations for a 3 day visit to Melbourne area. Great value; especially if you take advantage of being able to cook in the full kitchen. Convenient to beaches and charming downtown Melbourne. Eau Gallie Art District is quiet and a little homespun, but a nice nearby area for walks. Decent small galleries and art museum. Easy to follow instructions and, again... a good value.
Thanks for the nice review, Gary. You wouldn't believe how difficult it has been to simply get an estimate to fix the gate. I've made countless phone calls and still haven't gotten an estimate. Two companies have gone out to check it out, but still no estimate. It would not be possible to bend it back into shape, but there was talk of simply replacing the one bent length of tubing. I'll let you know as soon as I get an estimate.
I enjoyed my stay in the studio. I just moved to Orlando from Florida and needed a getaway before my apartment was ready. This was the perfect place to unwind after a long journey across the country.
