This fantastic third floor flat in London's central 'zone 1' is in walking distance of happening-scene destinations Hoxton Square and the Shoreditch Triangle, and conveniently close to the London's financial district: the City. With the bustling high street and its village-like street-market on the doorstep, and trendy City nightlife a stone's throw away, the neighbourhood has a convivial, friendly atmosphere. Attractions range from breakfast at the Ginger Pig to a hearty lunch at the Bacchus gastropub; walk 5 minutes up to the canal for delicious coffee at the low-key but fashionable Towpath, or hop over to Kingsland Road's Vietnamese strip for a choice of over a dozen Asian restaurants to fit every price bracket.
The 65 sqm, two-bedroom flat (two doubles - the master bedroom and a study/bedroom), in a five-story Modernist block, has a secure entryphone system and a lift. South-facing and bright, with sun spilling into the open-plan living room, the flat has an architect-designed interior and oozes 1970s cool. Extending the living space with a views that give glimpses of the city skyline, the cheerful balcony--south-facing as well--has a breakfast table and window boxes. It's a great, easygoing place for a couple or two friends, and can easily accommodate two couples or a couple with a child or children who are okay with sharing a double bed.
Features include wifi, original art, a flatscreen TV on a moveable bracket with cable, iPod docking/internet radio music system, washing machine and dishwasher. The ample hallway includes a wall-fixed bike mount, and a dressing room allows for hanging space and shoe storage. A cork floor throughout provides a soft but practical surface underfoot.
The main bedroom has a large double bed (2.0m x 1.6m), and as well as bedside tables and drawer stacks has a full-length mirror, with a blackout roller blind blind fitted across its south-facing windows. We use the second bedroom as a study and occasional guest room; bookshelves featuring novels, architecture books and a range of other interesting titles line the longest wall. A writing desk provides space to work or to lay out your things, and the charcoal 'Muji' daybed can be used as a single or pulls out to form a very comfortable double bed.
Transport connections are excellent: it's five minutes to the East London line (overground train to the Olympics!) and ten minutes to the Northern Line (subway/metro/underground) to Hampstead, Camden Town, and London Bridge. Bus connections are available on three sides--to everywhere: Oxford Street, Waterloo, the Angel, and the 'Boris Bike' rideaway bicycle scheme has four docking stations nearby.
The flat's owners - an American and a Brit - really love the neighbourhood and want to share some of that love with any guests who are looking for a home that has plenty of character and charisma, as well as being a cosy, comfortable place to chill out.
Perry & Matthew were great hosts, and the flat was wonderful. ("Pinterest in real life," my friend called it, jealous of the cork floors) We really enjoyed our time in London and would love to stay there again. Thanks guys!
I had my parents and god parents coming for my wedding and really wanted to have them staying around where I live!
Luckily I found Perry and their fantastic apartment in a very convenient central location, very comfortable, sparkling clean, amazing really! :)
My parents loved staying there, and they took fully advantage of the location enjoying the amazing boutique wine shop near them and the morning walks at the Regent's canal!
Also Perry and Matt were fantastic hosts and I felt comfortable with them straight away! They are nice people :) I would fully recommend them!
