About this listing
Big bright room with private bathroom. Our home is a very comfortable charming Victorian terraced house near the centre of Dublin. It has lots of character and period features and is on a pretty, calm and quiet street only minutes from all the action
The room is a large bright space downstairs with a bathroom for your exclusive use. We live in a great part of the city, a quiet, very pretty Victorian street with the city centre on its doorstep. The house has recently been renovated, so it's very comfortable, bright and warm. The bedroom is a large room with period features such as a high ceiling, fireplace and a wooden floor. It also has a sofa, a comfortable double bed with a quality mattress, bookshelves and a piano!. It's a really quiet room, perfect to chill out in and get a good night's sleep! We do not have any pets.
The sofa in the room could easily accommodate a child and I can provide a cot upon request.
There's a full kitchen & dining area, a separate sitting room and rear patio which you are free to use as you please. There is excellent free wi-fi. There's bathroom down the hall from your room for your exclusive use.
This area is full of cool cafes and restaurants to suit all budgets.
You can make yourself at home and help yourself to tea / filter coffee. There is a shelf in the fridge laden with breakfast goodies for you to help yourself to as well as a selection of cereals. Please just ask if you have any requests and I'll try to get it for you.
Interaction with Guests
I love to travel and meet new people but completely understand if you'd like to have some downtime - so you can have as much or as little interaction with us as you prefer!
I've prepared a list of all my favourite local spots, from funky cafes, to the best sandwich shop, to parks and of course the best most authentic pubs - I love giving tips / spilling secrets!
The Neighbourhood, Broadstone is a collection of streets of Victorian redbrick cottages surrounding a gorgeous little Park. It's a perfect example of an oasis - calm and quiet but just minutes from the City centre and all of its amenities. James Joyce lived two doors away where he wrote those nasty letters which were discovered under the floorboards!
It's just a 5 minute walk to the main street of Dublin, O'Connell St. Parnell Square with The Hugh Lane Gallery and The Dublin writers museum are just around the corner.
We are on the busiest Dublin bus route (46a), a 2 minute Walk from one of Dublin's busiest bus stops (Parnell Square).
The number 16 bus will take you from the airport to Dorset St., where it's just a 3 minute walk to the house. This is by far the cheapest way from the airport, about €3 per person. It will probably take approx 30 minutes.
A taxi costs about €20 from the airport.
My favourite way to see the city is by bike. There are two Dublin Bike stations within a one minute walk from us - the bikes cost just €5 for a three day ticket and you can use them anywhere around the city centre.
I can provide you with a parking pass for on street parking on our street. Because our house is so central, it usually costs €2 per hour; for you it will be free!
Other Things to Note
Feel free to ask me anything!
Just treat the house as you would if you were staying with a good friend - be respectful and yet make yourself comfortable and relax.
I would just ask that you please make sure you lock the doors when you're leaving for the day.
Though I don't smoke, you're welcome to smoke outside on the patio.
As you can see it's a large bright room with plenty of reading material and even a piano!
We had the best first experience with Airbnb at Aoifes house. We were immediately greeted by her and Clara, and offered tea as soon as we got in. She made it feel as though we were staying with a friend, not someone we had never met before. The listing was also exactly how it was - quaint yet spacious. The bed was comfy, shower was warm, and was within walking distance to the City Centre! The few streets just outside her immediate neighborhood did not seem as warm and welcoming as hers, but we definitely felt safe walking through during the day! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to use Airbnb for the first time, and really anyone using this site!
Although Aoife was on holiday herself she made sure we felt right at home. She was really easy to communicate with through e-mail. We had a great weekend at her house, the room was spacious enough for two persons, breakfast was available and the room, kitchen and bathroom were very clean. I would definitely stay at her house again when I'm visiting Dublin in the future.
We had a wonderful time in Aiofe and Clara's home. Everything was neat and orderly. Their home had a very welcoming atmosphere.
The bed was comfortable , the kitchen well stocked for a wide choice of breakfasts and the bathroom clean.
It took about 15 minutes to walk into the centre of Dublin which suited us fine. I would definitely stay with them again.
My stay at Aoife's place was excellent! She is very welcoming and friendly, making you feel totally at home and her daughter is lovely! The house is exactly as on the pics, very clean and pretty; I loved my room. The bathroom is really clean. The neighborhood is great, the house on a very cute calm and happy street and located in the centre of Dublin, so location is great! A gem!
Listing was perfect , described the accomodation so well but couldn't match up to the wonderful welcome we received fro Aoife and her lovely daughter. We have been in several air bnb across Europe but none match up to this one for the warmth and generosity of our host. Nothing was a problem and both Aoife and her neighbours in this very friendly street made us feel part of their very happy community. Thank you Aoife for making our time in Dublin so memorable.
Lots of additional info and advice from Aoife and friends helped us to see and appreciate all that this vibrant city had to offer
Loved everything about it , Aoife, Clara , the neighbours, the neighbourhood, a hidden gem of Old Dublin within easy walking distance at the top of O'Connel Street.
Dublin was our final destination of a two week visit to Ireland. Aoife welcomed us graciously opening her home to us. The Airbnb pics that she had posted were accurate: upon entering the home to the left, a private guest bedroom (with plenty of reading material); shared kitchen at the end of the hallway from the front door with a nicely appointed, private toilet, shower/tub. Kitchen is shared with Aoife and adorable Clara, yet at no time did we ever feel that we were imposing. Aoife made our stay quite comfortable. She is personable with friendly neighbours. She gave us bus and POI information when requsted. 25 minute walk to Temple Bar, plenty of buses if you'd rather. Bus stop 5 minute safe walk from her home. We took a public transit bus minutes away that took us 55 minutes to the airport. Overall a great stay!
Aoife and her precious little girl, Clara were very accomodating and helpful with directions and making sure we had everything we needed. Very comfy bed and a nice walk to certre of Dublin although we mainly took a taxi...horible weather while we were there.
About the Host, Aoife
Hi I'm Aoife and that's my daughter, Clara. After years of great travels around the world meeting great people and seeing amazing things, it's time for new adventures for me: namely, being a Mum to Clara and being a host to travellers to my beautiful hometown of Dublin. Look forward to meeting you and spilling a few secrets of Dublin's hidden gems!
Clara and I are really enjoying being Airbnb hosts. We love having people in our home and like our guests to have a home from home experience. Some of our guests have said it felt like they were staying with friends, which is exactly what I was hoping for!
