Interaction with Guests
The guesthouse is detached from the main house, where we live. You will have full privacy but if you need anything or have any questions, we are just a stone's throw away.
The guest house will be professionally cleaned before your visit. But if you are staying for an extended time, you may request professional cleaning for a fee of $50.
We live in a quiet neighborhood that is just off of the main street (Lake Ave) and a few blocks north of the Playhouse District. Our favorite affordable brunch spot (The Reyn) is right on our street. We also have some fancier brunch spots about a mile away. You can easily walk to affordable ethnic restaurants and a brand new Starbucks.
Just a few blocks away is a Walgreens for your sundry needs, a cupcake shop, and the Lake Ave metro spot, which is your portal to the rest of LA.
According to Yelp, there are 29 restaurants within 4 blocks of our home and at least 100 restaurants within 1 mile. We've probably eaten at most of them (!) and can provide recommendations.
We are about a mile away from the Playhouse District, one of LA's cultural epicenters with museums, theaters, movie theaters, SoCal's largest independent bookstore, shopping, farmer's markets, and many fun free outdoor events.
Some of our favorite attractions include the Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington Library and Gardens, City Hall, Old Town Pasadena, Caltech, Kidspace (for the kids), or going on architectural walks. During the summer, there are many outdoor free art and music festivals like the Artwalk, Artnight, Chalk Walk, Make Music, free concerts at Levitt Pavilion, and more. We have a great Pasadena guidebook you can use (as well as guidebooks about LA and California).

If you're here for a Rose Bowl event, it is a 45 minute walk away. We can also tell you about our secret free parking area, which is about a 20 minute walk away.
The Lake Ave Gold Line stop is about 3 blocks away. You can easily take it to Downtown and Hollywood or wherever else the Metro goes. There is also an Avis/Budget car rental shop just one block away from our home where rentals run $25-35 per day.

Other Things to Note
We prefer to rent to people who have a complete profile and can include some information about themselves and the nature of their stay.
No drugs, smoking, loud parties, pets, unregistered overnight guests, or unnecessary drama. Please remember that this guesthouse is on the same property as our home and we are careful to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone, including our neighbors.
This is such a great spot! Convenient, cute, clean- everything we were looking for. The pictures represent the space well. The hosts were so friendly, warm, and kind. I would highly recommend and would stay here again when in the area.
Bryant and Margaret were wonderful hosts! The guesthouse was decorated beautifully and the beds and linens super comfortable. They really have thought of everything that a guest could need. Our family had a great time getting to know each other.
Bryant & Margaret were the perfect hosts and we loved their little cottage. It felt like home and was the perfect size for us and our youngest daughter! It was very private and so quiet we were able to relax after long days at the homeschool convention. We hope to have the pleasure to stay with them again if we are ever in the area!
This was a nice, new and spacious room set in a small building behind their house on a good quiet street near downtown Pasadena. Bryant and Margaret were among the most friendly hosts I have met in airbnb. They make you feel very welcomed and provide you with good hints for the area. I made it through the whole trip walking without a car, and there is also a metro station within a few blocks. The recommendations listed for dining were also excellent and a good walk to downtown Pasadena from their guest house.
Our hosts were accommodation and gracious. The pictures and the description fit the place. For our trip, it was what we needed. We were only there in the evenings and to make breakfast. It was warm
in the evenings, but without a screen door, we couldn't keep the door
open, unless we wanted the urban wildlife to come inside.
The unit contained everything that we needed. Off street parking was
convenient. We walked to a grocery store. Conveniently close ( short drive) to the Rose Bowl, which is a nice place to walk in the mornings.
Exactly as described, very comfortable for a small family of four. Clean and well maintained, we would absolutely stay here again. Hosts Bryant and Margaret were sweet and accommodating. Their little girl was just as nice, sharing books and blocks with our little ones. We only stayed one night due to our schedule but would feel comfortable staying here for longer periods. Oh, great parking too!
Margaret and Bryant are marvelous hosts!
After a six hour car trip to Pasadena it was wonderful to be met by Margaret with a warm welcome! She greeted us immediately upon arrival, showing us all the special features of the guest house.
The guest house is lovely! The photos here on the airbnb site are quite accurate. The space is very clean, very bright and airy, and equipped with everything we needed.
The patio and backyard are private and spacious as well, with a grill, a large table, comfortable seats and a hammock under an ancient oak tree.
Our daughter was getting married and we used the yard space for the family to gather as we made her bouquet and other flower arrangements. It was perfect!
Still, best of all was the friendliness and kindness of our hosts, Margaret, Bryant and Elise. They are warm and generous people whom we now count as friends!
Thank you for the hospitality! We will stay here again!

About the Host, Bryant
Bryant is from Michigan and Mar is from LA. We are both professors and met in Pasadena in 2002 during a work-related training, never thinking that we would eventually marry and move to Pasadena years later. We have a spunky 3 year old who will love to share her toys with your kids. ;)
We have stayed as Airbnb guests all over the world. We've learned from our wonderful (and not-so-wonderful) experiences as guests and strive to make our own guesthouse as comfortable and convenient as possible.
We love Pasadena and all of its restaurants, art, architecture, history, natural beauty, and culture. We hope you will love our city as much as we have enjoyed it the past 6 years. We used to live in West LA and can answer any questions you have about the greater Los Angeles area.
