More than just a place to sleep! Its an experience! It's a tiny Victorian town called Karenville. It's silly, fun and off the grid! A unique country experience. Enjoy your own private tiny "Home" in a playful and artsy Village built totally by Karen. There's lots to see and do in K-Ville.

The space
Karenville is more than off the grid. There is no electric. You will be surprised how freeing and easy it is.

This tiny "home" resides on the edge of my tiny "village" I call Karenville. I like building (It's my weekend hobby). I built all the buildings in Karenville for my own pleasure.

Your soon to be "home" is located on the edge of Karenville and overlooks a meadow full of wild grasses and the hills and valley beyond.

I transformed this tiny "home" of yours from something else. It's a wonderful living space that feels like home. I use it as a part time art studio. It has a small sink and counter, and sitting space. The bed is very firm and is made and ready for one or two persons. It is a twin size bed and possibly a bit short for some. It can sleep one person comfortably or two if you like to snuggle.

I built my tiny village of Karenville one building at a time. There is a cafe/store, (where you can cook if you like. So bring some food.) a church, a glass house, a hotel, and so much more. Most of the buildings have an architectural look of the Victorian years.

It is near to impossible to describe Karenville. All the time I hear my guests say "There is no way I will be able to explain all this" and it is true! Don't bother asking me a lot of questions, just come and experience for yourself living back in time before electric lights and running water. You will be surprised how easy and freeing it can be! I have been living this way, electric free, for over twenty years!

Guests who enjoy themselves most, book more than one night. This site, or "home" is often used as an Art Studio for everyone in the village when it is not already booked. Therefore I prefer to book it for more than one day or when everything else is already booked. Please, for your enjoyment and ours, consider booking more than one night when possible. To further encourage multiple nights I have added a one time check in fee of $15 (Airbnb calls it a cleaning fee). What I hear most from my guests is, " I wish I could stay longer in this magical place".

There are no nearby neighbors only fields and forests however when you tire of all the peace and quiet in Karenville. Ithaca is not far.

At Karenville kids and pets are people too! I have tried to make my prices as reasonable and simple as possible. I have priced my "homes" and camping to include the second person. I then charge $15 for each person after the second with a maximum of four people. Yes kids and pets are people and often take up more space than adults. Please include them as another person.

I am a fun and sometimes silly person. But most of all I have a strong connection to the wild things around me. I especially like the simple things in life. Some of my favorite things to do is, hiking, boating, enjoying my pets, building or painting something, contra dancing, riding my vintage bicycle, looking at old architecture, showering under the rain spout, cooking over an open fire, having a great adventure, learning about cultural differences, gardening, sailing the winter months away in Florida and alligator hunting and ofcourse hanging around home (both in NY and FL) doing whatever.
Things I do not enjoy are sports, shopping, fashion, and watching tv. But sure love my Guinea pigs and my parrot Rickie, my pony Tangles, my life partners and my guests.

About Karenville;
I built the many buildings in Karenville for my own enjoyment and pleasure. But then I wasn't sure what to do with all these silly buildings. Someone said I should put it on Airbnb. Without electric or running water I was sure no one would come. Wow! was I ever surprised. And now, suddenly, I'm paying lots of taxes.

My future hope for Karenville is that it may amuse and stimulate a new way of thinking and feeling for everyone who visits. And that all who visit K-ville leave with smiles on their faces.
