We are two well-traveled, easy-going, 50- & 60-somethings with grown children, very involved in our local community. We really like to meet new people and show off the place we live and love. We're around during the day to answer questions or help with travel logistics. Our house is laid back and comfy. We love music, books, traveling, movies, walking, cooking. We don't drink.

Downtown Kirkland is the only town right on beautiful Lake Washington. Shops, bars, restaurants, galleries, bakeries, coffee shops, marinas, parks, and trails galore. Enjoy views of the downtown Seattle skyline, the Olympic mountains, and beautiful sunsets. In the summer, board an Argosy boat for a cruise around the lake or frolic at a free festival. Kirkland has small town character and big city smarts.
From the nearby Kirkland transit center you can easily get to Bellevue, Redmond, or downtown Seattle in 20 minutes or less.
Park at the top of the driveway to unload, otherwise park at the bottom of the driveway, on the right side.
I had a great stay with Karen and Grant. They made sure I had everything I needed and that I was comfortable. Karen makes the best bread around, ready for breakfast in the morning. They are both so friendly and their house is full of fun memories of travels! What I found great about the location is that it is right by the Kirkland Corridor, a great bike path for a ride or run and a quick jaunt to downtown. Karen was really helpful in making sure I had maps and knew the area. I felt very at home and I plan on staying again when I come back.
I stayed here for 3 nights. The house was gorgeous, spacious (photos did NO justice here) and very clean. Karen was like a mother to me the whole time, constantly asking if there's anything I needed -and actually giving me whatever information or additional clothes, bag, etc. that I needed. She was really kind, caring, always had a smile, and I was very touched. She also provided pick-up & drop-off to & from the airport at a reasonable price, with pleasant conversation. The description of the house was pretty accurate, except that the downtown Seattle took longer than 20 minutes -I didn't have a car. Neighborhood was very very safe and beautiful. Public transportation system was great, easy to use, and got me to almost anywhere. Kirkland itself was a beautiful city with a fantastic walk-trail along the lake Washington. and is pretty close to other interesting cities surrounding it -including Seattle. If I get to visit Kirkland or Seattle again in the future, I'd stay with them again! :) -Hopefully with my own car then.
I had a great stay at Karen and Grants. They were very welcoming and I felt right at home. They even make fresh bread every morning! I would certainly stay with them again.
Karen & Grant were fantastic hosts. Very welcoming and happy to provide us with advice on the local area. They left a nice breakfast for us each day and otherwise gave us plenty of privacy.
The place is very homey and in a nice quiet suburb. Very easy access from the highway (405) but a little harder by public transport.
We initially didn't have firm dates for our stay, but Karen was very flexible and happy to block out some dates in case we needed to stay extra. I will definitely be recommending this to any friends who need to stay in the area.
Staying with Karen and Grant is a great experience. They treated me like family and are very friendly and engaging. The room and amenities are great and Karen thinks of everything. It was very relaxing to come home to a great place. I look forward to staying with them in the future. It was my first time using AirBnB and I can't be happier with my time with Karen and Grant.
Karen and Grant are fantastic people. I felt absolutely great and comfortable while staying with them. They treated me like their own family member. If you are looking for a nice and warm people you shouldn´t think that long cause you are on the right spot. Like an international you will find anything here from American culture: food, music, talk, fun...way of life. Just any problems and Karen and Grant will fix that for you. Thank you for these wonderful days and wonderful people!
Karen and Grant were wonderful hosts. They communicated very promptly and warmly ahead of time and were very accommodating during our stay. We enjoyed visiting with Karen in the evening, swapping travel and life stories like we were old friends or family. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We loved the evidence of their world travels all throughout their home. We were here for a swim meet I was in and hope to visit again when the meet comes around again next year.

We are a well-traveled, easy-going, 50- & 60-something couple with four grown children between us. We've lived in this house since 1999 and are active volunteers in our local community. Grant is a retired electronics engineer, Karen is a retired technical writer. Karen speaks French and Spanish. We like many kinds of music, long walks, road trips, travel adventures, cooking, bird watching, gardening, reading books, watching movies. We don't watch TV. We are spiritual but not religious. We don't drink. We eat healthy, homemade food. We're politically liberal. We're very openminded and accepting of other people's beliefs and lifestyles. We love visiting National Parks and camping in our van. So far our favorite overseas trip was to Turkey.
