We are situated beside Lough Lannagh lake, and part of the Museum leg of the Greenway walking and cycling route, opening late summer / autumn 2014. I love that I can walk into town, that I can walk and see a London Westend Show, or the best in live music, comedy and entertainment at the Royal threate, and there are great places to eat . In less than 20 minutes drive I can be walking on Berta blue flag beach, having just past the holy mountain Croach Patrick. In less than 90 minutes, I can see Connemara, Kylemore , Galway City, Yeats County, and enjoy the Wild Altantic Way. I can do it all, or sit back and realx and do nothing at all, and see the beautiful sunset on Lough Lannagh lake. (Kayaking on lake available on certain dates). It's the best of both worlds, a pleasure and a joy to both live and work here.
There is car hire at all the airports. We are in walking distance of the bus stop, and the train station is 2 km away. We can advise on the best mode of transport if you want.
Other Things to Note
Our Cafe is open 9am to 5pm on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Its a simple menu selection. Scones are baked daily and you must try Paul's homemade jams (I love the strawberry and rose geranium jam). We are not a completely "gluten free" kitchen but we have a selection of sweet and savory items that use gluten free ingredients. Just ask, as specials change daily.
Just treat others as you'd like to be treated yourself. Keep noise levels down after 10pm, you'll have your own key to come and go as you please, just close the door gently! If using the guest kitchen, leave it as you would like to find it, ready to use! There's a dishwasher, tea towel, bin, fridge and freezer. Any issues just phone and there is a phone in your bedroom.
This was our first experience of Airbnb, and we were delighted when our booking was accepted promptly by Lough Lannagh Lodge, as we had found that some other hosts didn't seem to be updating their occupancy details, and most accommodation in Mayo seemed to be fully booked. The communication from Lough Lannagh Lodge was very efficient, and it seems to be very well run. When we arrived, we were shown around and there are some useful features such as a Kitchen which can be used by Guests to prepare food. The free WiFi worked fine from Room 12 and in the common areas where we visited. The room was clean, and you could even turn the radiator on in August - this was very welcome as there was a sudden change in temperature outside on the day we arrived. The breakfast was well prepared and offered a good choice. There are a lot of outdoor and indoor activities available in the vicinity, which we didn't have a chance to try out as we were only there for 1 night. Only negative is that some of the common areas (corridors, dining room, etc.) are a little institutional with hard floors, and not as homely as typical small B&B's in Ireland. Guests expecting a typical small B&B might be disappointed. However, there are a lot more rooms than a typical small B&B, and this may make it particularly suitable for large groups. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional.

We really want you to enjoy your time in Mayo and offer a great alternative to a hotel stay. The team is small Gerardine, Paul, Nicola and Christelle. Just ask and we'll do our best to help you. We can cater to most requests!
