Situated right in the city center on the cusp of the Gótico and Born districts, this one bedroom apartment is perfectly situated for your Barcelona stay. Minutes away from all the museums, the Santa Caterina and Boquería markets, the beach, Parc Cituadella, amazing shopping, top bars and restaurants and ALL the major landmarks, stay here for the EASIEST way to see the city just by walking around.
You really can walk to just about anything you want to see or do in 2-20 minute walks. The metro is also close at hand (yellow line, less than 1 minute away; green line, less than 10 minutes; red line, less than 10 minutes), as are the Estació de França and Estació del Nord train stations.
As for the apartment, it is luminous and airy. A one bedroom, it features original Catalan tile floors, high ceilings with exposed wooden beams and floor to ceiling windows that open up to a small balcony overlooking the pedestrian street below. Sundry amenities include WiFi, washing machine, hair drier, clean linens and towels.
TWO UPDATES TO NOTE:
1) Note that the TV in the photos has since broken and, due to a complete lack of interest, we have not replaced it. Who needs a TV when you've got the whole city at your feet for exploring!!!???!?
2) The bed frame has been replaced with a new, NON-SQUEAKING model as of 17th August 2014.... Thanks to everyone who commented on the less than ideal situation and helped us source the problem! :)
Look forward to hearing from you!
Sam and Libby
As a guest in the apartment, it is all yours. We do not live there and all of it is yours for the taking. :)
Interaction with Guests
Either ourselves or a friend will welcome you upon arrival. If a friend checks you in (because we can't get away from work or something), we'll checkin with you in your first day or two to make sure you are happy and have everything you need to enjoy your stay. Other than that, we stay out of your hair! In the case of emergency or some kind of repair that's needed, we live 10 minutes away and can come by at the drop of a hat.
Super central. 10 minutes to anything you want in the center (including the beach!). Nearby shops that are open late and on Sundays (a plus in this city). Maze-like streets to get lost in. Loads of galleries and artisan shops. Great restaurants, bars and terraces. Two minutes to the park.
1 minute from the yellow line on the Metro. 6 minutes from the green line on the Metro. 12 minute walk to the Aerobus drop off/pick up to the airport. 5-15 minutes from key train stations that are great for getting out of town to beautiful beaches in Sant Pau, Sitges, etcetera. Non-stop stream of cheap taxis at the foot of the apartment.
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted in our building.
You can smoke off the balcony. We just ask that you don't smoke inside.
Other than that, please respect the neighbors, lock the doors, etcetera. All the normal responsible kind of stuff.
We'll share with you more insider tips about the apartment once the booking is made and will show you around when you're here!
A modest yet comfortable apartment. Libby was very helpful throughout our stay, even despite not being in the country. We were met at the apartment by Libby's friend who gave us the keys, showed us around, got us settled in and have us her number should we need it (fortunately we didn't). All in all, a very pleasant stay - we'd certainly stay here again!
We had a wonderful weekend in Barcelona. The apartment was ideal, just as described and had everything we needed. We were met by a friend of the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The location i thought was perfect. I was surprised how quiet it was, yet within walking distance of all the main attractions and El Born itself was really great with endless winding streets, lovely cafes and bars and a fun atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.
This was my first time booking with Air BNB and I must say it was a very enjoyable experience. This was my first time traveling internationally by myself and the apt is in the middle of everything. From the beach to the sights, it's all within 20 minutes. So take advantage of your location! Libby was not available but I got to meet Sam and she's a very pleasant person, who gave me a few tips about where to go and what to possibly do. I would definitely stay here again, and I plan on it.
The apartment was as expected, and was in a great location in the Born near the Gothic Quarter. I had great communication with Libby leading up to our stay, and her friend was very welcoming and helpful when she met us upon our arrival. She recommended a great coffee place nearby that became our favorite destination during our stay. A great value for the cost on a charming street!
Libby was an excellent and very responsive host. She had TONS of very helpful information about Barcelona, places to eat, things to see, etc. She even let me know about a parade in her neighborhood, and how to best view it like a local (with a ladder that she had left for us to use!) She was an angel of patience when we locked ourselves out of the apartment with the key on the inside of the lock and had to get a locksmith to open it back up for us. Her apartment is exactly how it was described, perfectly clean, with a comfortable bed, everything we needed for the kitchen, which we never used since there are so many great food options in the area. Oh, and the neighborhood itself is gorgeous. Very lovely old-world charm, right by several really lovely areas which we were interested in visiting. I absolutely recommend staying at Libby's if you are in Barcelona.
I had a great time in Barcelona and Libby's apartment was a perfect place to stay for my first visit. The apartment was just as described. The location was ideal, as the area had a lot of character and was close to good transport, bars, and restaurants. I did not get to meet Libby, but her friend kindly welcomed us even though we arrived before our scheduled time. That was most appreciated.
Hello! I am Libby (on the left) and this is Sam (on the right). As hosts, we are happy to share our home as your home, providing everything you need to conveniently and enjoyably live, relax, savor great meals and explore the local flavor of our adopted home city. We love living in Barcelona for the relaxed and social lifestyle, amazing markets, beach accessibility (for body surfing, picnics, beautiful runs and bike rides) and inspired buildings and living spaces. As big time food lovers, the city’s dual Catalan and international influences city feed us with both an exciting local culinary culture and easy access to Asian, Moroccan, Pakistani, Indian, Latin and South American markets. This city is built for pedestrians, so strolling is how we get most places we go (work, shopping, socializing, restaurants, etcetera), but when we want to visit a far flung beach or exhibit on the other side of town, we hop on the city's metro system or regional train network (both within 1 - 7 minutes walking distance). Our place is pretty much a turnkey operation, but if there’s ever a problem, we’ve got a handyman on call for you 24/7, as well as a comprehensive list of go-to sources for any query or challenge you might have. All-in-all, we just plain love being based here and think you will, too! We look forward to hosting your stay!
