Barry, the owner is a well-rounded hospitable Hakka Chinese descendant who really enjoys meeting people and looking after them. He is a Sarawakian chef, culinary instructor and a manager of the restaurant.
No drugs, smoking is allowed only in the limited area and please keep the place clean.
Clean, big rooms with cozy sitting area. The kitchen is well equipped for those who'd rather do their own cooking.
Barry is an extraordinary host. He showed us great hospitality, taking his time to tell us about what to see in Kuching and nearby, and even took us on a tour of the town and introduced us to the local cuisine on our first night.
We would recommend Barry and his den to anyone!
Don't be fooled from the outside - once stepped in, Barry's den is a warm and cozy shack with all the basic amenities that made our stay very comfortable. It is also strategically located where many of the tourist spots are just minutes drive away. Barry's a cool dude too, make sure to ask him for the best kolo mee or sarawak laksa nearby!
Nice place well located. Barry is very helpful and flexible.
Lot of restaurants nearby the apartment.
Barry is a very thoughtful host. He has lots of local knowledge and helped us arrange a day trip. He even took us out for breakfast on our last morning. The place is very colourful just like in the pictures.
I really enjoyed the clean spacious flat, especially the large well-screened windows that admitted a cool evening breeze from the river. I didn'mind the 2 km walk to the esplanade.
My knees aren't too good, and I hadn't realised Barry's place is two floors above the ground (no lift). Also, it isn't in the main town centre.
Barry is a lovely host, and I had many terrific experiences in Kuching I couldn't have had without him. He took me to some wonderful places to eat, and to a marvellous wooden Buddhist temple.
Barry is a very helpful host... he picked us up from the airport and organised a taxi back for us after check out... the rooms are value for money. Its clean and comfortable.
