Go to downtown West Chester and have a burger or something more elegant at one of the many popular West Chester restaurants. Take in a concert at The Note. Stroll the many picturesque streets on the original brick sidewalks. Every season of the year is filled with activity in this college town that is also the county seat of Chester County, Pennsylvania.
From our site, just a three-block walk will take to the SEPTA bus to Upper Darby. From there, take the "El" or elevated train. The "El" goes underground once you reach the downtown Philadelphia area. From there, you can enjoy central Philadelphia or visit any one of the many varied neighborhoods of the city. We are always happy to help you. In June, we offer a trip to Orlando Florida; another two-day trip by car. We stop along the way in one of the Carolinas or in Georgia. Basic hotel accommodations included for th.e stopover. We stay at a beautiful resort in Orlando for a week that includes a full kitchen, two full baths, deck, tennis courts, basketball and swimming pool.
There will be lots of talking in the car!
Our neighborhood reminds me of a typical neighborhood like in the old movies. Everyone is friendly and they actually do talk to you. People walk their dogs and sometimes they just walk themselves. We have two baseball fields on either side of the block for Little League. No need to pay big money to see what the American pasttime is all about!
Four bocks from the house there is a bus that takes you to the edge of Philadelphia in Upper Darby or to the heart of West Chester. A trip to Upper Darby is fascinating. There are over 50 languages spoken in this small area of small business and stores.
Other Things to Note
The owner speaks fluent French and Spanish, but of course you are here to speak English. However, we understand that it can be very tiring speaking a different language all day and we will respect that.
We expect ourselves to be respectful and considerate to others. We expect the same from our guests. We realize that everyone has different schedules but we would prefer that our guests be in by midnight. We would prefer the kitchen to be closed to anything besides a cup of tea or glass of juice or water after 10:00 p.m.. The heat in Winter is set to 68 degrees during the day and 60 degrees from midnight until 7 a.m..
Air conditioning is provided in the kitchen and upstairs for the sticky summer weather we sometimes get. We would like you not to smoke on the property. We would also appreciate that you keep alcohol to a minimum. Wine with dinner is OK.
Crisann was a pleasure to stay with. My friend and I passed through West Chester as part of a cross-country e-bike trip. Knowing that we'd probably be tired and hungry, she was sweet enough to prepare an Easter basket of treats for us! The fresh, morning crepes she prepared were also a delight! Crisann's home is beautiful. I love her wood stove in the kitchen and the back deck definitely makes for a relaxing place to kick back and enjoy the sunshine. Her and I share some common interests, so it was easy and fun to chat. I'm also glad we were able to practice some conversational Spanish! I'd love to stay with her again and would definitely recommend her place to others.

Whenever I traveled, I didn't care so much about the famous landmarks; I spent my time talking to people in all the "regular" places about regular things. And of course, I always wanted to improve my language skills! I would hope to give my guests the same kind of insight.
