Interaction with Guests
Sherlock, Wesley and I welcome guests on arrival, serve breakfast in the morning. Beyond that, a good host, like a good bartender, senses when to interact, get involved or leave the guest alone! Guests can find me in person, call or text (my intercom!). I am busy, come and go a lot, but always reachable. Live and work mostly at home in the house. Any of 3 daytime cleaning staff might be on site, as needed.
Artisan Ohio City neighborhood is one of the nation's top 10 for food and drink. Urban, historic, trendy. Crop Bistro is grand, Flying Fig best a female chef and owner along with it's superb atmosphere and food, Momocho serves Mod Mex in an old saloon looking place and is always packed, Orale offers a different take on contemporary Mexican. Banana Blossom is my Thai place. All the Breweries also compete for best burgers and pub food. Mitchell's Ice Cream! All a walk away.
Walk, walk walkable! Suburban guest sometimes can not believe it! Many park their car on arrival and leave it. Public bus, train, eat, drink, 1-2 blocks; downtown conference, Indians game, 30 min walk across majestic bridge, 5 min drive, one mile. Call cab. 17 miles from airport by car or train. Also, shuttles from neighborhood to Indians stadium.

Our host was great! Took time to find out what our weekend plans were and helped us with advice etc. The location was great. It was an easy walk to a grocery store, various breweries and shops. It was only a $10 cab ride into the city. The room was very spacious and clean. It was a nice, relaxed environment. We felt like we were visiting a friend. The breakfast on Sunday morning was wonderful-items picked up from the local farmers market! Great conversation while eating and a good start to our day! The pets, Wesley and Sherlock, are very friendly and we enjoyed interacting with them while away from our own pets! We would highly recommend this renter and room.
Jim was a very helpful host! Having to leave very early one morning, he provided us with all we needed to make breakfast ourselves. The accommodation is nicely decorated and comfortable. Spotlessly clean. The location is perfect; many options to eat and drink within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
James' place is beautiful. This is a legitimate bed and breakfast and James actually coordinated with us and another couple that was staying in the other room to have breakfast at the same time, which he made himself with a number of delicious local ingredients (along with coffee, an assortment of teas, orange juice and a giant bowl of fruit). The house is old in a stately way and the room itself is gorgeous. The bed is very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
It should also be noted that the Ohio City neighborhood is the place to be in Cleveland and James' place is only a few blocks from a number of top notch restaurants and breweries (including Great Lakes Brewing Company and Garden Market Brewery). We would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Cleveland.
Though I ask for a bedroom with a short notice to visit the excellent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I was lucky to be accepted by our host very quickly despite the late hour. We were received very well and take advantage of his many advices about the overall city, and more particularly about the nice street near his house.
He is very friendly and considerate. His house is a lovely place and nothing is missing to have a good stay.
Highly recommended (and what a great breakfast !).
We had a brief but fantastic stay at the Clifford House! We made last minute plans to fly in to Cleveland from Seattle for a wedding, and James was incredibly patient, responsive and accommodating! The house and room were beautiful, well maintained, clean, and had everything you'd need to make you feel at home away from home. If we ever find ourselves in Cleveland again, I know where we will be staying!

Upfront, honest, direct. Like nice things and good food but not pretentious. Art theater, food, swimming, people are favoriyte subjects. The Cleveland Internationl Film Festival is my favorite even of the year.
