  • Gaston and Alexa's place is a lovely, separate space which is perfect for a couple visiting Philly. We appreciated little details like tea, coffee and a kettle for morning drinks. The house is a short walk to the trolley along Baltimore ave or an easy walk into University City. Alexa was super generous and actually did our washing for us for free, as well as allowing us a late check-out. We loved our stay and would definitely rent again.

  • My parents stayed at Gaston and Alexa's guest suite for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. The suite is super cozy and clean and has everything you may need. Gaston and Alexa were easy to communicate with and we didn't encounter any problem whatsoever. The neighborhood's awesome with lots of restaurants/cafés and cute houses. It is easy to park on the street (2 hr-limit) or a couple of blocks further down (no time limit).
I definitely recommend staying at the Pink House!

  • Alexa was very sweet and the studio apartment --which, by the way, is hidden behind a bookcase in the living room, a little unexpected and hard to find so pay attention upon arrival!-- was well decorated and cute.

It's in the basement, though it's not fully underground because there's a ground-level exit. On the whole, it was nice and I really appreciated having a private entrance/exit. It was kind of humid when we were in Philly but there's an A/C so it wasn't too bad. Note that the "amenities" page says kitchen, but read the description closely because there's no real ability to cook--fridge, toaster, electric kettle. The apartment is clean, cute and totally fits its purpose.

The neighborhood is very pretty and we loved the West African restaurant a block away.

    Response from Gaston:

Hi Allison, Thanks for the feedback! The outlets do work--for some reason they just needed to have that little red reset button pressed. Sorry for the inconvenience! And oy, the mosquitos! We'll see what we can do about the alley--there is most likely standing water somewhere out there. Do fly strips work for mosquitos? I'll look into it! We try to be as detailed as possible in our listing, which is why we call it a "kitchenette" and reference all the appliances. But as you indicated, not everyone reads the fine print! Best wishes, Alexa

  • We had a lovely time at the Pink House! Everything was just as we hoped it would be, plus a few extra little touches (apples, chocolates, checking to make sure we had umbrellas when it started pouring down rain) that made us feel extra welcome. The place was very clean, the bed comfortable, the whole little studio adorable. Gaston and Alexa were very warm and welcoming both in email and in person when we ran into them when we arrived. The neighborhood was great--we were happy to stumble into the local May Fair while we were there.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

  • My husband, mother in law and myself stayed at the Pink House 3 nights. The apartment looked exactly as the pictures showed. The beds were comfortable and the place was very clean. Gaston & Alexa were wonderful host. We had a 12 hour drive and were running a little late to the arrival time we had given....Alexa called to make sure everything was ok and we found that to be a nice touch. We talked with Gaston and Alexa a couple times from chance meetings and they were lovely hosts. They gave us information on traveling to and from places we planned to visit. We did elect to rent the drive for parking and never drove our Jeep until it was time to leave. There were a couple places close by to grab a bite to eat too. We all felt comfortable in the studio and we had a blast in Philly. If we vacation that way again, we will definitely check to see if the Pink House is available. It's a nice place to stay.

  • Gaston and Alexa's studio was private, clean and everything I was looking for in my last minute trip to Philly. All the necessary amenities were there and Alexa was immediately responsive to the few questions I did have. I would recommend Gaston and Alexa's place to anyone looking for a place to stay in a West Philly!

  • Thank you Alexa and family for hosting me in your beautiful home. It was like a dream come true for me. I felt very safe, comfortable, and at peace, more than I could ask for and better than any hotel. Please know that your considerations and accommodations went beyond measure. Incredibly, I really felt at home in your beautiful and unique city. I can only hope to repay your kindness one day.

  • Fun to feel part of the neighborhood during our campus visit to Drexel. Stayed during beautiful weather in April so enjoyed being able to open windows&have coffee on back deck. Hosts communications were timely and thorough (right down to directions&location of closest drug store). This place and the hosts services made our short purposeful trip smooth. Thank you!

I have wanted to set up a vacation rental for a long time, and we finally bought the right house to do it in the summer of 2009. We have been doing great these past three years, welcoming guests to the best block in West Philly.
