Although Elly was very nice and informative and the unit is nicely decorated and central to the main attractions, there is a major issue with it : it smells strongly of sewage (rotten eggs). We were so disgusted with the smell that we decided not to cook in the apt. I used sandals in order to take showers as the drains overflowed (within just a few minutes), and I was too disgusted to take a chance with my feet directly on that floor.

We thought about changing to a hotel yet we were there for only three days and felt it 'would get better the next day' but it didn't. We bought air perfume spray yet its effect was only temporary. We slept with smell / pot pourry sachets next to our us so we could mask the smell and sleep. The smell is really unbearable. I contacted Elly via email about this on the first day and got no reply.

Moreover, the entrance shown on pics are of a nearby building on another street. The entrance to this building is old, graffitied and leads to a narrow, very dirty stairway disgusting to go through, and again with a strong sewage smell. This was so bad that we would get back at night and feel like throwing up anything we just ate as we were going up (this was really bad). We were actually NOT looking forward to coming back to this place at the end of the day.

This place is also on top of a corner pub that attracts a loud/drunken crowd that yells till the wee hours of the morning. Even the double pane windows can't keep that noise out. If you are hard of sleep, you will likely not do well here.

So be aware and look around. I have stayed in other properties in Florence in this same area that were much better, did not have this smell issue at all. So research and good luck.

  • Elly is great host. Met us at the apartment in less than 3 minutes after we arrived. The apartment is great - in the centre of everything and walking distance to all the places in Florence. Great place to stay. Thanks Elly.

  • From the train station this place is very easy to find. Elly was great to deal with and explained a lot of the best places to eat and visit around florence. The location was excellent. Easy walk to all of the best tourist attractions with nice places to eat and relax close by! Would very much recommend this apartment for your stay in florence.

  • The flat was lovely to stay in - it was very close to the train station and we were able to walk everywhere on foot. The entrance to the flat is in a small alleyway right next to a bar and had graffitied walls - but this was expected based on past reviews. There are also many restaurants within 2-3 minutes walk from the flat.
The flat itself was spacious and clean, and the owner/Elly has provided many things within the flat to make us feel welcomed - from wine and tea to bread for us to have a quick breakfast, to detergent, shampoo and even toothbrushes!
Elly was a wonderful host - apart from meeting us on the first day to drop off keys/instructions, she also showed us places that are worth seeing and most important of all, restaurants and gelato stores! We have stuck to Elly's recommendations for most of our meals and had many fantastic meals. Elly was also very quick with her responses - I messaged her once and she replied within a few minutes!
The only thing that I didn't quite like was that the (wifi) internet connection was quite slow intermittent. Luckily I had a data plan and everyone else tethered off of my phone.
Thank you Elly! You (and the flat) certainly made our stay in Florence more welcoming!

The appartment is very clean and organized and had everything that we needed.

  • The apartment was centrally located to everything. We never took a bus or a Metro. The apartment is literally three minuet walk from the train station. This made it easy to come in and out of Florence and also made day trips to local towns much easier. Elly was especially helpful with the local scene. She sat down with us and showed us, on the map, locations of grocery stores, restaurants, gelaterias. This is critical when you're new to any city.
The facade of the building can be improved. The graffiti on the front door threw us. However when we went inside of the apartment, it was totally amazing. The apartment was newly renovated and everything was clean and shiny. It had everything we needed and more. The host even left us a bottle of lovely wine to try. It was great! We hope to come back to Florence and definitely stay here again.

  • This is a great flat in a super convenient location. The photos and description are accurate. You can easily walk to all of the sights in Florence from the apartment. The location being close to the train and bus stations is also very convenient for day trips.

Some have noted in their reviews that the apartment is (email hidden)ly bar. The bar is lively and noisy, but we did not hear much of the noise in the apartment two stories up. The rooms have nice, modern dual pane windows installed in addition to the existing single panes, essentially a triple pane window. Sleeping was not a problem for us and one of us is a light sleeper.

Elly is wonderful. She met with us and went over some of her favorite places in the city and recommended some great, little restaurants that we never would have found in a guide book.

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to lucky enough to return one day.

  • This is a perfect apartment for staying in Florence. We arrived with our little one (4 years old) and everything was perfect, clean and comfortable. Elly is an amazing host providing all the details about the surroundings that you can imagine (restaurants, shops..). Her friendly attitude is the best welcome in this town.
Noise from the road below is strictly limited to a few hours in the evening but it is perfectly neutralized by the double (in fact, triple) glass window! We had no problem at all in this respect, and we appreciated the quite and cozy bedrooms.
Inside, everything appears as brand new and nothing is missing: even Florence guide and photo books was there, and welcome snacks on the table!
Public transportations are just around the corner, railways station is at 5 min walking, and the main famous monuments are just a few more minutes further away. The location is also perfectly placed for exploring the town on the other side of the Arno river, often neglected.
In conclusion, I cannot find negative issues with this apartment and I warmly recommend it for your stay in Florence.
