The place is absolutely lovely. If anything, the photos undersell it. We really loved hanging out in the undercover outdoor area, and in the 'day bed' next to the pool. The pool is beautiful too, with a gorgeous view. It's a very quiet, peaceful area both during the day and at night.
Gusde and his family were very helpful, and gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat and visit. We had a problem with the wifi when we arrived, and that was fixed very quickly. All the family and staff were also really great with our 1 year old baby.
Breakfast is provided each day. There was sometimes cold rice or noodle dishes which included meat, which we were a bit reluctant to eat. But otherwise the breakfasts were generally quite nice.
The location is not ideal, being a 10-15 minute drive from Ubud, and much longer if there is bad traffic (which is often!). Gusde provides a shuttle to and from town, but you need to arrange this each day with him, and you will usually be sharing the shuttle with one or two other groups of people, which means it all takes a bit longer. I would recommend hiring your own motorbikes if you intend to stay here. It means you can go into town whenever you like, and on a motorbike you can bypass the traffic.
The location is also a bit of an issue if you want to walk anywhere, as it is in a small village and there are lots of dogs around. We found that they were quite aggressive when we were walking around, and this made us pretty uncomfortable.
Overall a lovely place to stay, and good value, provided you are happy to arrange transport to Ubud.
Just an amazing place. We stayed 3 nights and loved it.
Gusde has a wonderful family and guess what, he got us married in his house with a beautiful traditional ceremony!
He also has a restaurant in town (Pesto cafe) which is pretty nice.
Breakfast is amazing too.
Enjoy your stay !!!
My wife and I stayed at Gusde's other villa (not the one pictured here) for part of our honeymoon. It was a wonderful stay. Gusde was a great host. The villa is about a 10 minute drive to Ubud and is situated among a huge rice paddy field. Quite amazing views. There is an elementary school nearby so you'll see a mix of farmers, children, and the people in the village. It feels very safe. The villa was small and cozy, with a main room and a bathroom, a pool in front, and a kitchen/dining table on the other side of the pool. There are a number of people that are on hand to help you with your stay at the villa - the villa was cleaned very nicely every day and all of our clothes were folded. There is a laundry service that our driver provided, and some women came by occasionally to place traditional offerings in front of the villa. The real treat was our driver, Wayan. He came by every morning to make us breakfast and was very friendly, talking to us and made sure to ask about how we were doing and whether there were any issues with the villa. He gave us a cellphone that we could use to text/call him whenever we wanted which was extremely helpful. Our day trips with Wayan were great fun, and we enjoyed his company as he explained parts of the Balinese culture and traditions while we went to various temples and sights. He recommended various things to us and they were all great. On our last day we were leaving to Sanur (about a 45 min drive) and I accidentally left my wedding ring in the villa (yes, not very smart of me...). I phoned Wayan who quickly phoned his wife - she found the ring and Wayan personally drove all the way to Sanur again to drop off the ring! It really felt like Gusde, Wayan, and their friends took great trouble to not have us think about anything but our honeymoon which really meant a lot. If you're considering a vacation to Ubud (between Nusa Dua, Sanur, and Ubud, Ubud was definitely our favorite!) please also consider Gusde's villas!
The villa is absolutely gorgeous. You are away from everything- but only a 5-10 min drive from the center of Ubud. At night, it is just you, the stars and nature. My husband and I loved every moment we spent there and did not want to leave. The breakfast each morning was delicious and filling. We had food brought to the villa at night two times and it was delicious. Gusde and his staff were extraordinary in their service. Stay here, you will not regret it and won't want to leave.
