We have spent a fantastic week in Montepertuso hosted by Laura and her family in their beautiful house. Laura has greeted us very warmly , waited for us at the bus station and showed us around helping us to get our bearings (on our way from the bus station to the house she actually introduced us to one of the waiters at the very nearby restaurant 'Il Ritrovo' where later that evening we had a wonderful meal and were treated as special guests!). The house is even more beautiful that the pictures and is equipped with everything that one might want or need.Montepertuso is a very quiet , relaxing spot, that seems a world away from the busy and glitzy Positano ( even though there is only a flight of stairs between them, some 1000+ stairs ). One of the things we loved the most was watching the locals going about their daily lives completely unaffected by the swarms of tourists a couple of miles down the hill. This is a truly wonderful location for people who enjoy active holidays, you'll have both the sea and the mountains within easy reach and the scenery in between the two is absolutely stunning! We would definitely like to go back some day.
Lovely, spacious home high above Positano. Antonio was very welcoming, meeting us at the bus stop and showing us around the place. He even had a bottle of wine and some fruit waiting for us, which was a nice touch. The views from the outside balconies are fantastic.
It is about a 30-minute walk down a LOT of stairs to get into Positano. There's also a bus that comes every hour, though it is usually packed. The bus is the best way to get back up to Montepertuso for all except the most adventurous of hikers.
Only downsides to the listing were the 35 euro cleaning fee (separate from the booking fee) and there were some ants in the house (didn't really bother us, but a bit of a nuisance).
Overall, we would happily stay here again.
we are delighted to know that you enjoyed and had a good stay at home.
I would like to to clarify one thing; unfortunately we can not predict the ants come out of the strangest places, they in all months of the year, turning in search of something to eat, it 's important not to leave food residues around the house, not to be boredom.
35 € not serve to keep out the ants, but they serve to clean wash the linen and other things that we supply, including an insecticide to insects.
Antonio is a great host! Very easy to communicate with and very attentive.
The house is a 2min walk to the bus stop, parking our car was easy (we didn't use it until we left) and there's decent food and a grocery store all within that same 2 minute walk to the bus stop.
They are very mindful of electricity usage here but as long as you aren't inside using the AC all day there should be no worries. Would definitely stay here again!
Lovely home on the top of Positano in Montepertuso. Antonio met us in the piazza after we arrived and we went through all of the homes ground rules. There are plently of walking to do both all the way down to Positano and up to the path of the gods. The restaurant next door (il ritrivo) was also very delicious. I would recommend this place if you like to walk alot as we did walk the 1000+ steps down to the beach in positano every day.
Thanks again Antonio
It is very pleased to know that you had a good stay, even walking up and down the stairs, those who want to visit and live in the originality of each place these are the particularities of all the villages on the Amalfi coast.
I will keep in mind your advice.
All the best!!!
The apartment and the small town of Monterpertuso were both incredible. It was perfect being up the hill from Positano and away from the crowds (though it was quite a walk or crowded bus up and down)! We loved our stay but did have an ant problem. When I inquired to the owners all they said was to use the spray. The ants continued to come back, even into our clothes, and when I asked for a refund of the cleaning fee, I was told that the cleaning fee was unrelated and that I would not be refunded anything.
Dearest Tyler, we are very pleased to know that the village of Montepertuso and the house you liked them.
At your check-in, ants, they were not present in the house, which means that the house was clean and all linen supplied, if you have not had much care of some things it is logical that the ants are attracted to some smell in bathroom and on your clothes and do not go out.
this has nothing to do with the money paid for the cleaning.
Antonio was very nice. When we got there he helped us to the apartment from the square. He did however ask for a cleaning fee when we checked in that we already paid for, but later agreed that we had already paid for it. The apartment was very nice. It is a small trek to the beach but very beautiful view
Thanks for the review, I am glad that you have a nice stay.
We have just recently added the changes in extra taxes, then there are guests who have the cost included in the price and guests who excluded, it depends on how long before they booked. Not having your confirmation with me, I'm confused, then while reading it I clarified. I think it is a grave matter.
We arrived very late, having lost some luggage at Rome airport - don't go to Rome airport... - so it was really great that Antonio waited for us until 02:30 to guide us to the flat and show us the basics.
Antonio was very helpful throughout our stay, with information to help us make the most of our time.
It was good that the flat had air conditioning, especially as our 1 year old daughter was travelling with us. We all slept well at night.
The village is very friendly and we felt we were welcomed by all.
Positano is very busy and so retreating to Montepertuso worked well for us. Be aware, there are over 1000 steps up from Positano. There is a bus, but it is quite full. If you need to use it, you will need to be patient. having said that, it's very cheep and again, very friendly.
We had a lovely stay and have taken away many warm memories, especially eating at the local restaurant Il ritrovo and saying Buongiorno and buonaserra to the people we met in Montepertuso and on the steps up and down :-).
