We are located on the Pacific Coast of Calicoan Island, Western Pacific Rim, connected via causeway to the S.E. tip of Samar Island. We are private beachfront on a 3000sqm lot on the quiet Southern end of surf beach 'abcd'. 4km below us is the fishing village of Sulangan, on the lee side of the island, the entrance to the Gulf of Leyte. The private rooms are below us, opening onto covered patio with hammocks, then bermuda grass, coconut palms, beach & surf! Ask us first re any site queries!

The space
We have approx’ 65 metres of beach frontage beyond a low limestone boulder fence with two small access gates. Good surfing out front is subject to weather variables, from learner thro’ experienced only, season is May thro’ end Oct, peak season Sept to mid Oct. Beyond our house, & the Hut with it’s out houses, our big lot is now green, grassed & ‘jungled’, following typhoon Haiyan, a.k.a. Yolander, Nov 8th 2013. Where you’ll be

Guiuan, Eastern Visayas, Philippines

Our place is located in ABCD Beach, Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, Philippines

On the Northern end of 'abcd' beach is Calicoan Villas with a small restaurant & cliff top pool.

4km below us, a bridge connects us to Bario Sulangan, the end of the road, a fishing village & home to it's Patron Saint, San Antonio de Padua, his statue installed by the Spanish over 300yrs ago, the old church now a site of pilgrimage, & talk of 'miracles'.

Looking West from Sulangan one can see the bigger island of Homonhon, where Ferdinand Magellan made Landfall in 1521, having been the the first to cross the Pacific from the East. East of Homonhon is the island of Sulu-an. Critically strategic in WW2, it marks the deep water entrance from the Pacific into the expansive Gulf of Leyte. Both of these islands, subject to weather, can be visited in a day trip.

Banago beach is 4km from us, over on the Western side of the island. La Luna beach resort with restaurant & pool, the perfect romantic spot to dine into Sunset. Banago is also an international fashion brand, 'native accessories' inspired & created by a local surfer girl.

Diving & picnicking on the islands to the West via local Banka Boats can be arranged. Plenty of good, isolated, hiking & reef walking spots on the island.

The market town of Guiuan (Gee-Wan) is 20 to 30mins, back across the causeway.
