Apartment was clean and had a good location near to the city's attractions. It was slightly far to walk from the train station while dragging luggage. Carrying luggage up the many flights of stairs wasn't easy as well. However, Gabriele was a good host and that improved our experience of the apartment.
The apartment itself was slightly cramped for 4 people but there is more than enough space for 2 people.
Lovely apartment, very clean, beautifully situated in the heart of Florence, close to the galleries. Bed was a little uncomfortable over time, but our child found the couch bed very comfy.
We stayed 2 nights in Gabriele's apt in late Oct. 2013. We chose it for its stellar location near many of the city's attractions. Indeed, it was literally around the corner from the Mercato Centrale, where it was convenient to buy items for breakfast, and the outdoor markets. And quite close to the Duomo, San Marco Museum, etc. (BTW, the dome shown in the pics showing the view from the window is not the Duomo, as some posters have claimed.) Gabriele met us as we got out of the taxi and gave great advice for places to eat & see. He also called a taxi for us the morning we left to get to the airport, and was immediately responsive to any needs/questions we had. The apt. itself is fine; if you're planning on using the kitchen to prepare your own meals, it's pretty barebones. The place is suited for a simple breakfast and snacks; i'd say enjoy real meals in any of the 1000 trattorias/osterias/etc in the city. The bathroom shower is a little odd; it's not self-contained; water gets everywhere and then you use a squeegee to push the water to a corner drain afterwards; no huge deal. If you're a light or late sleeper, you might want earplugs. The many shopkeepers in the small shops lining the street just below open their metal shutters early in the morning & it's a bit loud, as are the many scooters/motorcycles that park in the narrow street outside. The price is quite fair for its cleanliness and location, and again, Gabriele is a great host. We'd give it a 4 1/2 star rating if the site allowed. (Steve/Sharon, Pittsburgh, PA, USA)
We really enjoyed our stay at Gabriele's apartment so close to central Florence. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. We appreciated Gabriele's courtesy and promptness when we arrived and helpful recommendations.
Gabriele's apartment was perfect for us. Great location, very clean and Practical. He was very easy to communicate with and on time and professional! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to do the same!
Thanks so much for letting us stay in your lovely apartment! It is super convinent! We walked everywhere even with 2 young kids... Everything is close by and Gabriel is very helpful!
The best part that I liked was the floor. It's made of tile and wood. No carpets. very clean and everything was new.
And the host was really nice and responsible.
It's on 3rd floor and no lift.
At first, it was not easy to find the house because Firenze has so many alleys.
But once I found it, I could see that his house is located really on the center of the city.
And I liked the big market(that closes 14:00)nearby where I could buy fresh food.
We three stayed 3nights and it's very spacious.
A perfect apartment to explore Florence. Super location - close to everything but in a 'local' area rather than the tourist strip. 100m for the Mercato Centrale and 300m from a local eating strip that was superb. Apartment perfect for a couple or a small family. Probably not for 2 couples. Apartment as shown in photos. Host was away, but a very lovely woman was there to meet us and as a contact point. Don't be put off by the stairs - we have a one year old and as long as you are a lightish packer, there is no dramas at all. Would definitely return.
