This is the spot!
Perfect location. Walking distance to EVERYTHING. Very clean, and had 2 beds, a real bonus. The complete kitchen came in handy for our early morning breakfasts, it is brighter and bigger than it looks in the pictures. We stored our bikes in the locked (seperate) entranceway to our suite.
We were in town for Challenge Penticton (triathlon) and found it a very quiet, easily accessible home that met our every need. Also saved us from trying to find parking along the beach, at the canal and at restaurants, since everything was walking distance.
Thank you Kathryn for the ease your home provided us during race week.
I was in Penticton for the wedding of a friend. There was an old car show in Penticton that weekend (and I think there may have also been an Elvis festival as well)...needless to say, the local hotels were quite booked up. I happened upon the airbnb website which really helped me. There was another bed in the suite (a day bed). I was on my own but I can imagine for 2 or more travellers (e.g. a small family), it would also be a great accommodation for that number of travellers that are together. My favourite thing was the location, which was just a few blocks from the beach. Kathryn was extremely kind; for example on the day of the wedding, she drove me to the church (which would have been a reasonable walk as well). Additionally, as she had no one checking in the next day (and because I was going to have a late night with the wedding reception), she accommodated a late checkout which was a huge help for me, especially because I wanted to be rested up for my travel back to Vancouver.
Lovely stay in Penticton at this brilliantly located spot with everything you might need.
Our stay at Kathryn's Gear Down Inn was an absolute pleasure.
The room for rent is really a complete suite, which includes a well-appointed kitchen and bathroom, a living area with a TV, DVD player and two beds and a separate bedroom as well. There was plenty of room for our young family of 4; the place was bright, clean and very comfortable.
We were only a couple short blocks to a fantastic beach and a playground with a spray park. We were also within walking distance to downtown Penticton.
Kathryn was extremely pleasant and very helpful when we needed directions around town.
We would definitely stay at the Gear Down Inn again!
Kathryn is a lovely host and is very accommodating. My family and I enjoyed are stay very much. The suite is spacious and comfortable. The full kitchen was such a bonus for us as we love to cook. The location is perfect and provides a quick access to the beach and the down town. I would highly recommend the Gear Down Inn.
A large "daylight basement" with full kitchen, bath, two bedrooms, and room for 4-5. I stayed during Ironman week. This is an ideal location for the Challenge Penticton triathlon race, within walking distance of EVERYTHING: race start, transition, convention center, downtown restaurants.
Kathryn is an attentive hostess, with extra touches including local fruits, jams.
My friend and I stayed at the Gear Down for a long weekend of swimming and wine-tasting. Kathryn was lovely, welcoming and warm. The suite was perfectly situated a couple of blocks from the beach, spotlessly clean, cool and there were a lot of extras left for us from simple breakfast fixings to fresh watermelon. She even left cloth bags for us at the door when we mentioned we were going to the (excellent) farmer's market only 4 blocks away. We enjoyed our stay so much we even stayed another night.
