This bright and airy flat can comfortably sleep 4 people. Dating from the nineteenth century the traditional stone building has an old turning rapunzel staircase up to the apartment on the second floor, original fireplaces in the main bedroom and living room and parquet floors throughout the majority of the living space.
All the rooms (excl. bathroom) benefit from plenty of natural light while the main double bedroom and kitchen have small balconies at the front of the apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped with a new washing machine and cooker with hood.
The newly fitted bathroom is small but perfectly formed with a shower, sink and toilet. The ample living room has plenty of comfortable seating and a large dining suite.
The smaller of the two bedrooms has a mezzanine double bed to maximise the space. The single bed beneath it can sleep another person, act as a sofa or be used in the living room if desired.
This is an ideal rental for a family, couples and small groups. The neighbours are very friendly with young children in this quiet family building, so this is not a flat for late-night action! We are open to a reduction of the additional guest rate for children.
Sheets and towels are provided. There are fans for the hot summers.
Whilst the flat doesn't have wifi access organised for August, we will be resolving this for September. There are, however, numerous local spots which offer free wifi, including the tourist office near Place de la Comedie - the closest being the local supermarket a minute's walk away on Gambetta.
You will be met on arrival by my cousin Laura who lives locally. She will give you two sets of keys and check that you are happily settled in.
This light, spacious (45m2) two bedroom apartment is ideally situated only two minutes walk from the historic centre of Montpellier and ten from the main stations. The tram is literally around the corner. The neighbourhood sets you firmly between a bustling, local scene and the chic and unusual shops of the Medieval centre.
All the amenities of a French city are at your fingertips with a delicious local bakery as standard. Round the corner you will also find a patisserie, a charcuterie and a supermarket amongst a range of other shops. Venture into the centre and you will find a daily flower market, beautiful squares and allees, fantastic restaurants (look out for set menus which offer great value for money) and all sorts of street entertainment in the place de la Comedie most evenings. Montpellier is great whether you are on a budget or not, with the opera, museums, cinemas, an Olympic swimming pool and the oldest botanical gardens in France amongst many other attractions.
Montpellier has an airport, but you might also find it convenient to use Beziers, Carcassone, Marseilles, Toulouse, Nantes or Perpignan as they have good train connections to Montpellier-Gare St Roch.
A taxi from Montpellier airport should cost approx 30 euros or you can take the shuttle bus to the train station for 8 euros.
Check out (website hidden) for more information on trains, distances and prices. Booking in advance can save you cash (be aware that regional trains are cheaper than TGV trains). You also need to validate your ticket after purchase to use it on the trains – this is done by putting the slim end of your ticket into one of the yellow machine in the station.
Once you arrive in Montpellier via the A9 (toll road) or A750 (free), or one of the smaller D roads, follow signs for 'Gambetta' parking. The car park 'Gambetta' is well signposted throughout Montpellier.
There is no parking directly outside the apartment, however, 'Gambetta' car park, below the Boulevard Gambetta, is less than a minute's walk from the flat if you take the pedestrian exit 'Andre Michel'.

Whether you want to hire a car and drive out into the countryside to take a wine tour, enjoy city life or visit various beaches, it is all here. I stayed at Norah's property last June with 3 of my friends. The place was absolutely lovely and we fell in love straight away. We were met at the property and given a tour before the keys were handed over. Norah was incredibly helpful and answered all of our questions.
Great location - just a few minutes walk into the very heart of Montpellier and the tram line is literally round the corner if you want to catch it for a day at the beach.
The stay was wonderful and we would love to return.
Sorry it's taken me so long to review Norah!
Norah's flat is really well situated - close to the centre of Montpellier but very quiet. We had a great stay and appreciated Hugh returning my daughter's toy monkey when she left it behind.
Very disappointed staying here.
This is not a breezy apartment. The Washing machine leaked and was therefore unavailable to use. The basics were missing (sheets for the bed, toilet paper, one pillow on a double bed). The apartment was dirty and airless. Sorry to have to leave such a bad comment but very very disappointed here!
On a positive note this apartment is extremely convenient for the centre of the city .. and what a lovely city it is ! The notes left by Norah were very helpful too.
Lovely little apartment and close to the aqueduct and city centre.
Norah's little apartment was a delight to stay in! Actually it was a great size, and we even had a room we didn't even use! It was a perfect location - walking distance from the middle of the city and just a 4 minute walk from the tram line which takes you to the beach. If you can handle 30 steps up to the apartment, you're set. Everything was there like a charming student apartment on a small off-street - linens, towels, fans, etc. The running water may be very hot ( be careful!) and you might hear some occasional late night straggler walking home underneath your open windows, but it's a lovely and lively student summer town, and my partner and I would stay there again in a moment's notice. We didn't get a chance to meet Norah herself, but her friends arranged with us to meet up and get the keys and were super friendly and also very accommodating when our arrival flight was delayed. Her sheet of tips & restaurant recommendations were great too. (Go to La Tomate for a nice meal . It's small , charming and great value if you need intro to local flavour not at tourist prices, and also across the street.) Thanks !
The apartment is quaint and comfortable and very much as advertised. Norah's cousin Laura greeted us and made us feel completely at home and taken care of. Would definitely return!
We loved Montpellier the girls thought it was like a French movie ! The area of the apartment is so central and local to all the shops and the old town , the restaurants and cafes are great nearby and we had fun bargain hunting in the shops ( You are right about the shoes !) The beach at Palavas is easy to get to and we did a few day trips as well by bus and train . The apartment is very bright and homely with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday . Laura, Norah's cousin is so kind and helpful, she keeps the place so welcoming and adds those homely touches ! thanks Laura we will be back
