About this listing
The nightly, weekly and monthly rates now include an 11% Local Tax. Airbnb doesn't offer a way to differentiate it from the rental amount as they do with the cleaning fee.
An unusual house, an architectural marvel on the Mendocino Coast. While the pictures don't do the house justice, they do convey its uniqueness, tranquility and the seaside beauty of the surrounding area. There are ocean views from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom. The house is cozy and spacious with fireplaces in both the master bedroom and living room. There is radiant heat, hot water circulating under the tile floors, throughout.
Interaction with Guests
I generally try to meet with them before they go to the house to give them a key, directions and some details about the use of the house. If that proves unworkable, I mail the key and discuss use of the house on the phone.
It is quiet, peaceful and the ocean views are tremendously calming.
Other Things to Note
I prefer to restrict one night stays to Sunday through Thursday nights to keep the more sought after Friday/Saturday combination available.
No smoking! No pets without prior agreement with the owner. Please keep it clean and leave it clean: if you spill it, wipe it up, etc. One of the ways in which I've kept the price so modest is I ask of all guests that they wash, dry and put away sheets, towels and dishes they've used to give the housekeeper a head start. Thank you in advance.
Berton met me close to my home to give me the house key and go over all the details of our stay. He was available by phone to answer a quick question when I got to the house. Everything was perfectly arrange and the house was so comfortable, with a great view of the ocean in the distance. Very relaxing.
Bert is a very hands-on host who wants to make sure that things go smoothly with the stay. The house is set in a quiet, pretty location with ocean views at a distance. We saw rabbits and deer, something our children really enjoyed.
By far the highlight of our stay was stargazing up on Alta Mesa drive and even on the patio of the house. There is very little light pollution at night and as Bert put it, you feel like you are "swimming in the Milky Way."
One challenge we had, since we were en route to another destination and stayed only one night, was getting all of the laundry done before our departure. This is one of the house rules, so factor it in to your schedule if you've planned morning activities or have an early departure.
Bert requested an in-person meeting during our stay in the SF area prior to arriving at the house. Again, factor this in to your schedule. What we learned was useful but probably could have been provided via email.
We love the Cetusaurus, the view, the music collection, everything about it. Bert has a great attention to detail which made getting there easy and he provided great recommendations as to what to do and see in the area.
The Cetusaurus at Irish Beach is an amazing Hobbit-like home nestled at the top of a hill with the ocean in front of you and an amazing mountain full of trees behind you. We saw deer in the front yard daily and a very cool family of quail living out in the bushes. The space was a perfect size for my wife and I and our two children. We visited many sites in the area; however, our best times was spent playing board games in front of the living room window.
What an amazing house!! This house was so easy to feel right at home. The hot tub/Jacuzzi was amazing! The fireplace was the icing on the cake. The kitchen was well stocked with all the right supplies to make a full dinner. Bathroom was well stocked with fluffy towels and linens. The views from every room was amazing. Nice little trails right outside the front door. All in all a great experience.
the experience of cetusaurus is one that we will remember for a very long time. not only is the architecture of the home amazing, but the owner, bert, was really great at helping us feel welcome and keeping us informed about the home and the area. before arriving, bert sent us information about the home and then met with us at a coffee shop on our way there to go over a map of the area and the home. this was a first for our family in visiting the area. the drive is breathtaking and there is a ocean view from the home in just about every room. also, the private beach close by is what made the trip. there is drift wood everywhere. the home has radiant heat, a kitchen that is stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and a large jacuzzi tub. we plan on coming back to the area and staying in this beautiful home in the future. thank you for making us feel at home, bert!
Thank you so much for building such a beautiful house. From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable and relaxed. We very much enjoyed your music selection, nothing much nicer than sitting on the porch, listening to Garcia/Grisam with the weather and the beautiful views all around. We also enjoyed the dvds you made available.
We were completely satisfied with all the things that were made available to us. Plus seeing deer & quail walking around was spectacular, & we didn't hit one! Thank you again, we will be back someday soon and we will recommend your house for any of our friends who need a relaxing, reasonably priced getaway. Thank you so much again, we really couldn't be happier.
