The nightly, weekly and monthly rates now include a 11% Local Tax. Airbnb doesn't offer a way to differentiate it from the rental amount as they do with the cleaning fee.
An unusual house, an architectural marvel on the Mendocino Coast. While the pictures don't do the house justice, they do convey its uniqueness, tranquility and the seaside beauty of the surrounding area. There are ocean views from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom. The house is cozy and spacious with fireplaces in both the master bedroom and living room. There is radiant heat, hot water circulating under the tile floors, throughout.
Interaction with Guests
I generally try to meet with them before they go to the house to give them a key, directions and some details about the use of the house. If that proves unworkable, I mail the key and discuss use of the house on the phone.
It is quiet, peaceful and the ocean views are tremendously calming.
Other Things to Note
I prefer to restrict one night stays to Sunday through Thursday nights to keep the more sought after Friday/Saturday combination available.
No smoking! No pets without prior agreement with the owner. Please keep it clean and leave it clean: if you spill it, wipe it up, etc. One of the ways in which I've kept the price so modest is I ask of all guests that they wash, dry and put away sheets, towels and dishes they've used to give the housekeeper a head start. Thank you in advance.
The house was breathtaking and Bert was a wonderful host. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this unique home in a unique area.
Bert was a very helpful, and informative host. The house was absolutely beautiful and inspiring, with amazing views, in a very quiet, serene, neighborhood. All we could hear at night was the distant sound of the ocean.
This is a very special place. I drove up from the Bay Area for the weekend with my girlfriend and we absolutely loved it.
If you are looking for a getaway in the Mendocino coast area, this is a great option. The price is really reasonable, considering you are getting an entire home - nevermind the fact that this house is completely hand built by the owner.
It was winter but the house was very warm inside, even without using the heat. There are two fireplaces, one in the bedroom and one in the living room, which is nice. There is an indoor jacuzzi, which is a nice feature. I think I would have preferred an outdoor jacuzzi, given the drippy, foggy climate, but the indoor was still nice.
The house had everything we needed. If I went back I might consider doing more meals there, as the options are few and far in between. We arrived at one of the few restaurants for dinner at 8 pm and were told that we were too late - so if you're used to the Bay Area dining scene get ready for something different.
Overall amazing stay. Very relaxing and I would love to go back.
The house was unbelievably, seeing photographs of Berton building this place from scratch made me so grateful to have the chance to stay in such a meaningful place. Berton was very communicative from beginning to end and our trip was truly magical!
Very beautiful, welcoming, calming home by the beach and away from all the hustle and bustle of the city life. The home had everything we needed for our stay and there were no issues with our arrival or departure.
