Superb double bedroom with balcony, overlooking orchard garden and lake. Shared bathroom access downstairsWarm, friendly house from the 40's with huge garden reaching down to the lake shore; orchard, vegetable and flower gardens, extensive grass fed on by wild geese, black-headed ibis, hawks and, from time to time, horses. Strategically located
to acces hiking, biking, horse riding and kayak circuits. Safe and quiet neigborhood, not near other houses and separated from the main road by a dirt track and double line of mature trees. However, main road offers frequent bus services to Bariloche centre and out into beautiful countryside. Only 1 km away from the supermarket and excellent local shops, 4 km away from Circuito Chico, 10 km away from Llao-Llao Hotel (lake boat trips) and 15 km away from downtown Bariloche or Cerro Catedral.
The house has a complete kitchen/diner, separate livingroom overlooking garden and lake, internet wi - fi, heating, and washing machine. We don't accept tobacco smokers.
I like to share cooking and eating times as well as photography, hiking, biking and driving around country roads!! I am a professional ski instructor and guide and happy to arrange privately, for the nearby ski resorts (Catedral) area.
The property has 2 double rooms, one ensuite, and a twin-bedded groundfloor room, to share or take privatly for single occupancy. It also has a cozy single room on the groundfloor and a studio bungalow (cabaña) in the grounds. The garden offers sunny and shady areas, space to get away from it all or to socialise in unique, natural surroundings.
It was so much fun to stay at Alberto's place! He loves to have people around, is very helpfull and makes you feel very welcome. His son and sister, who where also in town, were fantastic too. It was like we had an Argentinan family for a few days! The house is lovely and perfect located on the lake. Downtown Bariloche is easy to reach by bus. If you have a change, spend a few days at Alberto's. You won't regret it!
Staying at Albertos is great. I say "is" because I am back there again. Having already extended my initial stay twice, I booked in again when I recently returned to Barilcohe from a short trip further south.
I was slightly concerned that Bariloche would be a bit too developed and tourist orientated for my taste, but staying with Alberto ensured that I was able to enjoy all the truly amazing things this area has to offer, whilst also feeling part of a laid-back, authentic homestead.
Alberto was really helpful and flexible before and during my stay with him. He was enthusiastic with his guidance and suggestions for activities in the area, and indeed we got to do some cool things together. Also, if desired, you can sometimes get in on the nice comunal vibe around meal time.
Alberto rents a few rooms in the house and there tends to be a mix of short and longer term guests. Hence the dynamic will obviously change from week to week, but with Albertos easy-going and playful nature in the mix I reckon it will always be a pleasant experience. I very much enjoyed feeling part of the gang for my time here.
The house is a bit outside town but given that there is a good bus service, as well as good local stores, that only enhanced my experience. You are close to amentities if you need to be, but far enough to enjoy the peace and beauty of the area. The homely garden, the mini orchard and herb patch, the occasional visitations by the white horses, the tall trees and of course, the lake on your doorstep.
The house is well equiped and the bedrooms are comfortable.
Overall, a great experience. And I may even come back again.... and again...
Alberto is a perfect host! He makes you feel right at home and like you have known him forever, and he can tell you a lot of interesting stories about the area, too! The place is incredibly beautiful, you can swim in the lake and there might even be a litter of 10-day old puppies if you are lucky... Don't hesitate to book this room!
Alberto was great...easy to talk to and a gracious host. He speaks fluent English. He picked me up from the airport, and even gave me a ride to the ski resort. We shared some nice meals together. He is a ski instructor, so that is convenient if you need lessons! His cabin is on a beautiful property, right on the lake with horses on the property. It's very beautiful and the location is good...away from town, and very quiet. If need be, you can catch a bus, they come through every 20 min. I went horse back riding and it was really awesome, trekking thru streams etc! The horse trainer, Mave leads trips, she is very kind. This area is awesome, you will want to stay longer like I did...there is so much to explore in this area!
I stayed at Alberto’s place for more than 2 month this austral summer, for work (writing) and for visiting colleagues at the university in Bariloche. I enjoyed especially the setting (large garden near lake) and Alberto’s help and hospitality – including several trips in the surroundings with other guests. Also, an English-speaking host is very useful for people like me, that do not speak Spanish. The house is rustic and has charm, but some services and utensils in restroom and kitchen need to be improved, and the doors to the bedrooms should be possible to lock. Alberto are aware of these points and I presume they will be fixed. Overall, the place is clearly recommendable, for the reasons given above.
I visited my husband Frank for one week during his stay, we shared an upstairs bedroom with our own bathroom. Alberto is a kind, relaxed and social guy who offers to share his cosy house set in a wonderful garden. Hospitality is for sure present, but there are things that ask for improvement and/or need a comment:
Common areas are in need of improved cleaning.
Not enough water pressure to support a shower in the upstairs en suite bathroom.
You shouldn´t need a flashlight to be able to find your way to/from the second floor when dark, a lamp upstairs is needed, especially since the stairway is very steep with narrow steps.
Keep a storage of toilet paper and make sure that dishcloths and towels in the kitchen area aren´t smelly and filthy.
A lighter with a grip for the gas stove not to burn your fingers.
Construction work made on the premises could be disturbing (so it was for me), so inform guests beforehand, so they would know before they make a booking.
