Welcome to Castle Tam Hostel. We're in the heart of lively, upscale San Pedro, only 400 meters from the University of Costa Rica and the student nightlife of Calle de la Amargura. Our newly renovated hostel is 10 minutes by bus from downtown San Jose and walking distance from San Pedro Mall, three supermarkets and many restaurants at affordable prices!
Our 15 rooms are a mix of dormitories and private rooms with WiFi and all of our bathrooms have hot water. We have two full kitchens, plenty of fridge space for your food and free coffee! If you don't like to cook there is also front door delivery service from nearby restaurants You can hang out with fellow travelers in the interior courtyard, or watch students pass by on the outside terrace. If you feel like staying indoors enjoy one of our two TV rooms. No laptop? No problem. We also have three Internet connected PCs so you can upload all of your photos from the beach.
San Pedro is a safe, upscale neighborhood in San Jose, so we enjoy taking our guests out for movie nights, skating, city walks and pub crawls on Calle de la Amargura. So if you are looking for a quiet place to lay your head before heading to the beach look no further then Castle Tam Hostel.
Great place to stay, the location is great, very easy to go to everywhere around the City. The place is clean and the Staff is always there if you need anything.
I definitely recommend it.
Good place to crash, lots of cool people staying here. Breakfast was a nice touch
My friends and I were in desperate need of a safe, accessible, welcoming location in/near San Jose after a less than comfortable (website hidden) experience. Hostel Tram quickly bid us to their sanctuary. (pardon my terrible spelling and grammer btw!)
We loved the hosts, the guests, the clean and quiet accommodations, the easy-access internet, and all the helpful advice and directions. Tram is close to many attractions and tiendas. Whatever we couldnt find ourselves the host and guests were ready to assist in finding.
The only setbacks were a little night time traffic noise and the occassional chill. I would remedy this by asking for more blankets and bringing earplugs. Also, keep in mind this was only from our room which ground level near the road. This may not be true for any of the other number of rooms in the Facility. The whole place looks newly renovated with cute/fun murals and decor. The outdoor patios make for quaint eating, reading and relaxing spots on the warm San jose days.
I would recommend this place to anyone I think deserves a good night's sleep in San Jose.
Basic hostel- good crash pad on your way to/ from the airport. It was quite noisy, but I stayed on New Year's eve, which explains a lot. Staff was friendly and helpful.
