Room for rent is a spacious private room in a charming renovated 1928, two bedroom storybook, cottage-like home with large open yard and huge redwood tree with flowers and fruit trees.
This private room, (previously the living room), has four doors: Front Door, Dining Room Door, Hallway Door to bathroom and kitchen; and a Closet Door.
The private entry is the front door. It is used only by guest. Front Door private entrance is directly into guest room.
Host enters the house only through the back door on other side of the house, which is the closest access to the back patio and garage. Host parks in the driveway in front of the garage.
Dining room is off guest room. There is a portable 4" thick arched door to Dining Room which is easily opened or closed by guest as desired.
Guest Room is fully furnished with a daybed, couch, desk, dresser, assorted lamps, live plants and a low pile cotton rug.
The day bed is a firm single mattress daybed, most suited for one person. For two people there is a queen size pullout couch bed – which is best for only temporary short term visits since it fills the room when it is set up as a bed.
There are six windows in the room so there is a lot of morning and afternoon sunlight in the room.
The historic fireplace is not functional due to degradation of chimney, so a bookshelf is placed in front of the fireplace.
WIFI internet is available through out the house.
There is only one bathroom; it is shared. It has two sinks, a shower and tub.
Kitchen is basic with a small refrigerator, modern gas stove, and no dishwasher or microwave. Guest has full use of kitchen and all dishes and appliances. Guest is expected to wash own dishes using provided gloves, soap and hot water.
Shared laundry area includes front loading energy saving washer & dryer that requires particular detergent that is provided.
Cute Dining Room has lots of windows, plants and some original artwork.
Parking is free, and easy in this quiet residential neighborhood, in front and all around the house.
Neighborhood is safe, neighbors are kind and friendly. Lots of people walk or jog here. Three is a park and trail by the creek less than ten minute walk away, where you can walk, enjoy nature, or visit two famous donkeys or other assorted farm animals.

Host is an Artist and Certified Massage Therapist, who repairs builds and fixes things around the house and for others off site or in the back patio. Her work schedule varies between long or short hours of work sometimes in home office, or patio, and other times offsite on location at a clients residence or office.
This house is very sweet and homey, it is a refurbished storybook-like home the size of a roomy cottage with a long bathroom.
The house is generally quiet. Gentle use of doors is greatly appreciated. Host is generally quiet, though, does at times play the radio to listen to NPR or Prairie Home Companion, or books on tape while doing the dishes or cleaning typically when no one is home.
There are times when I am up for listening to some enjoyable music, mine or others at an increased volume. However, I would appreciate a mutual agreement about acceptable volumes and want to know any time something is too loud or undesired. Talk to me, make requests; help me meet your comfort needs.
A few times a week I see clients in my office and will post on the door that I am in session. Though guest still have full use of the house and I am not opposed to their presence, while I see clients, or need to sleep, is not a good time for "party volume" music or other unnecessary loud noise.
There is no TV here. Playing music, or watching movies on a computer at a reasonable medium to low volume level, (or with headsets) is fine.
However Xbox use in this house is not acceptable due to the invasively loud violent sounds of video gaming and those playing it. Loud or aggressive noise is not conducive to desired peace and serenity here.
There is currently a one speed cruiser bike for guests use around town.
I do on occasion cook food to share. If you want prepared meals, that can often be arranged. Let me know. If I offer food to you I have fixed there is no cost. If you request prepared lunches or dinners there is an extra fee.
Therapeutic Massage sessions available by appointment.
Guest room, via front door. Dinning room, (accessed from arched door). Shared bathroom, (through hallway door). Shared kitchen, (via hallway and dinning room). Shared laundry, (via kitchen)
Interaction with Guests
I am flexible. I love meeting know people and spending time learning and knowing them, as well as sharing myself and experience. I am often available if guest want to interact or share meals or share time together. However, sometimes I work late long hours, so it is good to plan or know expectations or desires so we can plan around busy times. I am willing to go fun places, share the area (when I can). I am also willing to help with transportation to and from train station or if a special need arrises, call or text me.
My neighborhood is a sweet quiet area, mostly families. Easy parking. Flat easy neighborhood walk to the park and creek where there is shade from large oak trees and tall redwoods. There are many stores including Happy Donuts, Starbucks, a small market with in walking distance as well as a fantastic Deli, a Mexican Restaurant, and a gas station block away.
There is easy access to buses one block away, train station is 1.5 miles away. To get to and from the airport, it is easy to book a "Door to door shared ride" via the internet with SuperShuttle for about $30.
Other Things to Note
The guest room is a private room for the guest. It is not used by host, nor is it shared by strangers.
Rental guests, Please use the front door when ever possible. No smoking of anything in the house and surrounding areas, (prefer nonsmokers). All consumption of food and beverages in the kitchen or dining room. Peaceful tidy house. No pets are allowed. Respectfully moderate volume of sounds, and quiet in evenings after 11 pm. Clean up Dishes and put away any food from preparation after each meal. Wash dishes with hot water. Squeegee the water off the glass shower doors after using the shower.
The room, house was very cozy, beautiful green all around, neighborhood was silent and safe. Erin was a great host, enjoyed talking with her. Thanks!
The house is perfectly defined in the description. The room is very big and cozy, with a very comfortable bed and a big closet. The house is clean and the bathroom is really nice.
As usual in the area, you need either a car or a bike to move around. The Caltrain station is 30 minutes walking, and Stanford between 15-20 minutes biking.
For short term the house is perfect, since the feeling is more like a guest than a roomate. For instance, there is almost no space in the fridge for your food.
I stayed with Erin for 3 weeks and it was a great experience. She was very welcoming from day one and the room was very spacious and comfortable. Her home is only one block from El Camino Real, which has several food options(Driftwood Deli serves amazing sandwiches for lunch, a must try). The neighborhood is very quite yet accessible and convenient.
The listing is exactly as advertised, no negative surprises what so ever. Erin is a joy to live with. She is very sweet, kind and thoughtful. I highly recommend staying with her, I would definitely stay with her again.
Thanks Erin! You rock!
Erin is an excellent host. The cottage is cozy, quiet, clean and conveniently located in Palo Alto. I recommend staying here.
It was my first Airbnb experience and I was so lucky to have Erin as my host. The room was clean, cozy and quite, and in a nice neighborhood. What’s more important, Erin offered me all the convenience I needed (some of them are far beyond my expectation): she picked me us from the CalTrain station, took me home from my office late at night (because I didn’t have a car), took me to the Farmer’s market, accompanied me to the hospital, offered me her bike … We cooked together, discussed about painting and shared life experience. We had so much fun together. Highly recommended!
Erin is an amazing landlady! It has been an amazing time for me. She is helpful and kind. She always offers you the best solution to your questions! She is an incredible good cook! I love the organic pumpkin pie!!! It is a perfect solution for a long and also short term staying. It is next to downtown Palo Alto and it is 15 minutes from Stanford by bike.
This was my first airbnb experience and it was certainly a pleasant one. Erin was an excellent host and the room was very nice and comfortable. I really enjoyed the sight of Erin's beautiful paintings and was always treated to fresh fruit and milk. Highly recommended!
I am an artist and massage therapist, yoga instructor and mediator. I love meeting people and sharing life and ideas. I also love to dance - and have a community of healers in the area for just about any kind of treatment or fun. I love to teach what I know, or help people design or build things; as well as what I know about healthy living to those who want to learn. I am often creating or fixing something. When the weather is good I love to walk hike or ride my bike. I can also give great tours of the beaches and local day hikes.
