About this listing

The Rock of Cashel in Co Tipperary has made it into the top 500 places in the world to visit by Lonely Planet! Rearing up from the fertile plain of the Golden Vale, the Rock of Cashel is a movie set designer’s dream: a bristling vision of a medieval round tower, chapel, cathedral and castle within a wall high on a grassy outcrop. Country House is set just 3 km from "The Rock" on a quiet leafy country road. An ideal base to tour the Southern part of Ireland

Interaction with guests

As much or as little as they like. I am a very keen cyclist and love hiking in the mountains so can provide all you need to know. Also very well travelled around Ireland so can help you plan the next stage of your trip

The neighborhood

Peaceful area in the heart of The Golden Vale yet close to major transport routes. Tipperary is a county of immense natural beauty, with a unique and ancient heritage. Shaped by the rugged Galtee Mountains and the River Suir, Tipperary has some of Irelands most breathtaking scenery and dotted with towns and villages. Cashel is home to the iconic Rock of Cashel. One of the most spectacular tourist attractions in Ireland and one of the most visited. Cashel’s rich history is reflected in its built heritage, from prehistoric earth mounds to mediaeval monasteries and fortified town houses, a Georgian Cathedral and a 21st century Library (which holds regular exhibitions, workshops and concerts). The Georgian quarter also boasts the Bolton Library where you can find the smallest book in Ireland.
With 3 mountain ranges nearby its a mecca for the outdoors. Cycling routes are endless!

Getting around

Good transport to Cashel. My home is located 3km outside town so having your own car is best. Of course cycling tourists will be most welcome also!

Other things to note

Must like my dog (9 year old lab). He likes everyone who gives him food

Very comfortable place! Very convenient to the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle and the town. Make a point to see the museum in the middle of town-the fellow that runs it is a most interesting and knowledgeable gentleman. His family has been the caretakers of the Rock for several hundred years! Try the local restaurants-excellent food and plenty of it!

Our quick stay here was great for passing through town. Bedroom and bathroom were large and clean. She was super welcoming and allowed us to come and go as needed.

Helen was kind, clear and accommodating. Her dog, Finn added to the welcome. Her willingness to participate in conversation or simply provide a quiet, safe evening was helpful.

Comfortable bedroom in a quiet country home. Private bathroom immediately outside bedroom. The house is a short drive away from the village. Host provided key to home and clear instructions as we were arriving while she was away. Ample space to park your vehicle off road. A very gentle and friendly lab is available to pet, so sweet.
