Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Some info has been automatically translated.
Our little guest cabin is located on our small homestead in the beautiful Sunnyside area of Sandpoint!
Very close to lake Pend Oreille and by our slough/creek!
Just outside of town, privately in the woods with big cedar trees, but still close enough to enjoy all the activities and places Sandpoint, Mt.Schweitzer and the surrounding areas have to offer.Traveling with a bigger group or another family?Check out our 2.guest cabin www.airbnb.com/littlehouseinthewoodsb

The space
"Cabin in the cedars" invites you to slow down from the busy life!
Have a cup of tea or coffee, read a book or just look out the big window into the trees.
Take a short stroll on the path that leads to the water or go for a longer walk to the big lake/park. You might just see Bald Eagles, osprey, turkeys or waterfowl. Many small birds also call our place their home. You may be lucky enough to meet or hear other North Idaho wildlife on our property; Mister Moose occassionally comes for a visit, too.
On warmer days you can sit outside on the covered porch or have lunch on the picnic table. Grab a blanket if you get cold!
Choose between sleeping in the cozy loft (low ceiling) or downstairs. If you pick the loft, you must be able to climb steep stairs/ladder. There you will find two twin XL size mattresses--> feel free to move them together to make it a king size bed. If you prefer to sleep downstairs, you can pick the trundle or day bed. All 4 beds are memory foam. The living room and sleeping areas are open space concept, so you won't find a bedroom door.
The water in the shower is temperamental.
Due to limited power to the cabin, there is a tankless water heater which might not always keep up with the water pressure in the shower. The lower pressure you will use, the warmer it will be.
Our guest cabin is cozy, simple and compact. Take its size (+/-350sqft) in consideration when booking.-->most pictures are taken with fish eye lense. Note that it appears bigger.
The cabin is perfect for 2 people and ok for up to 4 guests. It can get tight if you travel with a lot of luggage and/or winter gear.
There is a small kitchen with a countertop double burner, coffee maker, toaster and a mini fridge. There is no oven.
To save you a trip to the store on the first day, complimentary pantry items are provided to get you started for a simple pancake or waffle breakfast with coffee or tea and if available, farm fresh eggs from our chickens.
To stay warm, the cabin has a cadet heater and a pellet stove for the colder nights.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to stay around the cabin and wander down the path to the slough. We ask to stay in the cabin area, which is shown on a map in the cabin (in binder).

Other things to note
Note that the cabin is located in the county, in the woods. Even if we keep up with cleaning and adding screens during bug seasons, insects may find a way inside the cabin anyways!
SPRING AND MOSQUITOS!
Not every year, but sometimes in spring/early summer, mosquitos can get really bad in the woods. We offer mosquito repellent spray and a dynatrap is plugged in 24/7. We just want guests to be aware of this.
Due to our property being home to many wild birds and wild animals and for liability reasons, we unfortunately cannot offer or allow any water floats (canoe, paddle boats and such)or swimming on/in the slough/creek.
However you are welcome to watch the wildlife from shore.

Neighborhood highlights

The cabin is sitting in the woods, right on the edge. It's a really quiet neighborhood in the country, but once in a while you might hear farm or wild animals talking.
A short walk through our small forest and you are on our slough that feeds in from Lake Pend Oreille. There you can enjoy the view and hopefully birds from the park bench.
Take a longer walk , a short bike ride or hop in your car and you have access to the Oden Bay trail (just under 1 mile away) , where you can scavenger around in nature and hang out on lake Pend Oreille.
We have farm stands and a great restaurant/general store in our expanded neighborhood.

I'm a mom of five, a wife, a hobby farmer and since 2020 a bnb host. I love all of my jobs! I moved from Switzerland to Idaho in 2009 to start this North Idaho adventure with my husband! Hosting has become more fun than I imagined! This might have to do with all the great guests who have stayed with us! We have a little guest cabin, where our family and friends can stay when they visit. In between these visits, we love to share this beautiful and unique place with other guests, who appreciate nature, simple living and the countryside.
