The Space

A new, beautiful cabin with incredible view over Eyjafjörður and Akureyri. The cabin is situated aproximately a ten minutes drive from the town of Akureyri, the capital of the north of Iceland. Two bedrooms with double beds, both queen size, and a sleeping loft with another double bed, queen size as well. Additionally there is a sleeping sofa in the living room, so in all the cabin can accommodate up to eight people, although that might be a bit tight. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a great dining area and a beautiful living room with the sleeping sofa. Also, a very nice bathroom with shower. Outside you will find a big veranda with an outdoor jacuzzi (icelandic style !) and the most incredible view. Perfectly located for traveling around the north of beautiful Iceland. The cabin is also very close to Iceland's best skiing facilities in the winter, as Akureyri is Iceland's finest ski resort.
In Akureyri you can find all sorts of attractions like one of Iceland's finest swimming pools, art galleries, restaurants, cinemas, museums and so on.
The most popular tourist attractions on the northern side of Iceland like Lake Mývatn and Dettifoss are quite close by. Mývatn 1 hour and Dettifoss less than 2 hours by car.

  • This was a wonderful place to stay to be very near, but not in Akureyri. The cabin was clean, just the right size and stocked with everything you needed to make meals on your own. I would highly recommend.

  • We had a wonderful stay the cabin. Adolf and Systa are readily available, and the cabin was well stocked for cooking. The beds fill the bedrooms fully, leaving only a closet door width aisle. We each took a room, to avoid having to crawl over the other to get out in the night. Didn't go to the loft, but I think the cabin is roomy for 2, and maybe a small kid or 2, but more would be crowded.

View is amazing, and in summer it must really be spectacular-we arrived Oct.5 for 4 nights.

Cold weather caution- Temps. were about -2 to 3 most days, so road froze at night. Entry to camp is steep first 15-20 M, then levels. Your car will ski the first part, be sure to be to stop at the top, then stay in the center of the wide road and pump the brakes. It will stop on the level part, have faith. You need chains to avoid this. No problem getting up hill in daytime though.

  • What an awesome speck on the icelandic map! The view and location above akureyri are simply fantastic.
Adolf and Systa have the most charming cabin in the area and take great care of it as well. The well equiped kitchen, the hot tub right on the veranda and the cozy bedrooms.. it just all adds up to one of the highlights of our iceland trip.
We would highly recommend this cabin.
Thanks for your hospitality Adolf and Systa. We'll definitely be back if we can someday :)

  • This is an incredibly charming cottage/cabin with the best view! Sitting in the hot tub looking over Akureyri was a wonderful experience! I loved the clean modern interior decor, the fluffy duvets and heated bathroom floor! I highly recommend a stay at this lovely home. It's about 15 minutes from town, part of it on a gravel road, so make sure your rental car has gravel protection insurance! Very easy to find and access - Adolf and Systa have very good and clear instructions. Loved this place!

  • Maybe one of the best place in Akureyri!
    This house is a paradise.
The view is INCREDIBLE! All is confortable and very easy.
The place is quiet and zen, and just 10 minutes by drive for to be in Akureyri downtown with café's and shops.
    We love it!

  • Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! The view over Akureyri is breathtaking to wake up to and it was fun to survey the town with the binoculars. :) The cabin is so spacious and comfortable, we had a great time and only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • This is a wonderful little spot with, indeed, a spectacular view. Perfect for a stop on our honeymoon, and we even got a special congratulatory gift of champagne, which was a lovely touch by Adolf and Systa. We experienced some truly gorgeous sunsets from the hot tub and the cabin, both of which have incredible views over Akureyri and up to the mountains/ocean.

  • A wonderful house with the best view of Akureyri and the fjord. Superbly equipped, homely and a great welcome. The views from the hot tub really are the best you could imagine.

  • LOVED THIS PLACE!!
Thank you vry much, this was the most special place for us during our trip in Iceland. The view is just spectacular, the jacuzzi is the best especially watching the sun go down and the house has everything you need especially in the kitchen + individual slippers as well (cute). It is about a 10mins drive to town.
    Thank you very much

About
Me and Systa are a married couple with 3 children and 3 grandhildren. I work as a sports journalist for the Icelandic National Broadcasting and she's a hairdresser as well as a wonderful mother and a doting grandmother. We live in Reykjavik and own the fabulous cabin in the north of Iceland which we are willing to rent out. We like traveling and have been to all the continents, but have to say that the top was Sydney where we were in 2000 around the Olympics.
