About this listing
A new, beautiful cabin with incredible view over Eyjafjörður and Akureyri. The cabin is situated aproximately a ten minutes drive from the town of Akureyri, the capital of the north of Iceland. Two bedrooms with double beds, both queen size, and a sleeping loft with another double bed, queen size as well. Additionally there is a sleeping sofa in the living room, so in all the cabin can accommodate up to eight people, although that might be a bit tight. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a great dining area and a beautiful living room with the sleeping sofa. Also, a very nice bathroom with shower. Outside you will find a big veranda with an outdoor jacuzzi (icelandic style !) and the most incredible view. Perfectly located for traveling around the north of beautiful Iceland. The cabin is also very close to Iceland's best skiing facilities in the winter, as Akureyri is Iceland's finest ski resort.
In Akureyri you can find all sorts of attractions like one of Iceland's finest swimming pools, art galleries, restaurants, cinemas, museums and so on.
The most popular tourist attractions on the northern side of Iceland like Lake Mývatn and Dettifoss are quite close by. Mývatn 1 hour and Dettifoss less than 2 hours by car.
Just take care of our cabin, as we're quite fond of it. Don't leave doors open, as there is always the danger of mice coming in, especially when it's cold outside.
An absolutely beautiful experience at Grandma's house. The cabin was well equipped with all necessities and in a great location. We had fantastic weather and the final treat was seeing the northern lights on our last night. Thank you to Adolf and Systa.
Simply perfect! The check-in was easy and flexible. The cabin was lovely, clean and well equipped. There was a small issue with the Wi-Fi on our arrival on Sunday. It was sorted promptly- hosts arranged for it to be fixed first thing on Monday and it was running smoothly upon our return from a day trip. Adolf and Systa are very responsive and well organised hosts. Thank you for making our stay carefree :)
The views from the cabin are stunning!
Couldn’t fault it and will book it again if in the area. Highly recommended!
We loved the cabin! It truly does have a spectacular view. We were able to see the northern lights while relaxing in the hot tub. The cabin was extremely clean and very well equipped. Adolf and Systa were great hosts.
Adolfs cabin is spectacular, i spend 3 wonderful nights and i was lucky enough to have a really sunny day on the terrace to enjoy the icelandic summer. The view from the hottub was my favourite, you can see the the Fjord a full 180 degrees from beginning to end! The house is verry wel designed, Kitchen has all you need, good coffee, dishwasher, etc. It is a great house, and you are close to myvatn area (one hour drive) where i loved the fumaroles, kraftla powerplant, grötja and the myvatn nature baths are amazing. Adolf was super welcoming and nice!
Aah, the view!! We were not expecting how magnificent the view actually is! We felt very lucky to stay here for three days... it was luxurious and you just cannot take your eyes off of the view of Akureyri and the harbour on a sunny day... or a rainy day... or night time, etc! Superb.
It was our second stay at this wonderful cabin. We loved it so much the first time three years ago that we were always thinking about coming back. And it was just as we remembered it: Absolut great location with a spectacular view (if there is no fog), a nice jacuzzi and a cozy cabin which is very well equipped. Adolf was always very quick to answer our questions and very helpful.
A wonderful week in a sublime cottage with a fantastic view!
Very confortable beds, modern fully-equipped kitchen, power shower, enjoyable jacuzzi. Everything was as written in the description of the property. Many spices to be used to accomodate BBQ meats.
Very clean cottage. Soft towels and linens.
Things we did from there : Akureyri (city and hiking trails around), Myvatn, whale watching in Haugarnes (at least 20 humpback whales seen, one jump), the three fjords in the North of the peninsula, jacuzzi, jacuzzi, jacuzzi with beers (Einstök withe ale and Ul fur are the best!).
Our bad was to expect a washer... thet the cottage doesn't offer. Something to remeber if you arrive to the cottage after already one week backpacking in Iceland as we did :o)
Adolf was always there to answer quickly to any question we had.
About the Host, Adolf And Systa
Me and Systa are a married couple with 3 children and 3 grandhildren. I work as a sports journalist for the Icelandic National Broadcasting and she's a hairdresser as well as a wonderful mother and a doting grandmother. We live in Reykjavik and own the fabulous cabin in the north of Iceland which we are willing to rent out. We like traveling and have been to all the continents, but have to say that the top was Sydney where we were in 2000 around the Olympics.
