Central London Luxury Boathouse

Boat - Entire home/apt · Nine Elms Pier, Tideway Walk, Kirtling Street, London, Battersea SW8 5PZ, United Kingdom

BEAUTIFUL BOAT with loads of natural light in central London. A wonderful opportunity to experience a part of London on the river that you would never normally get to see. Perfect for exploring London, walking distance to Big Ben & the Southbank.

The Space

Perfect for exploring London from the main artery of the city, the majestic River Thames. Just a 20 min stroll along the river to Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, the London eye, Tower of London, National Theatre etc.

Please see my other listing for more information and photos. It is the same flat but I am renting the whole 2 bedroom apartment.

Situated between Vauxhall & Chelsea bridge off Nine Elms lane, this beautiful boat is a secluded spot on the river with views down to Chelsea and up towards Westminster. At times it's so quiet you can hear a pin drop, the only noise being the swans & geese who pass by to say hi. It is one of the most unique places to live in London, and part of a beautiful river community. There are 3 flats in total and they are on a recently designed luxury two story houseboat, with solar panels and photovoltaic panels. There is an apartment upstairs and across the atrium.

I am renting my 2 double bedroom flat (furnished with double beds, wardrobes and shelves). It is a beautiful 2 bed flat with open plan living room and fully fitted kitchen dishwasher included, with power shower, central heating, and wifi available 24 hours a day, all mod cons (oven, dishwasher, washer, fridge freezer, and wifi internet).

Huge floor to ceiling windows giving an epic view onto the river. A beautiful deck leads out from the living room right onto the river for morning coffees. There is also a small outdoor swimming pool on the pier overlooking the river Thames which is used in summer for BBQs and sun bathing if the English weather permits! The deck has the most spectacular views in London (see sunset photos!)

The area around the pier is a large development site of central London, including the new American embassy, Battersea power stations transformation and new luxury riverside apartments. In order to get to the boat you have to walk around a construction site, it's perfectly safe but it can be a little bit confusing which is why I send you out detailed instructions of how to get to the boat on arrival. It's noisy when you walk past the site but once you are on the safe haven of the boat it becomes a distant memory.

Close enough to cycle or walk into central London, you can actually hear Big Ben chiming at night. 10 minutes walk to Vauxhall tube (zone 1), where there are bikes for hire and many buses into Oxford street and Soho which is a short 20 minute ride into town.

Also nearby the site for the famous Chelsea Flower show.

I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to London :)

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the whole apartment, and my front deck which leads out onto the river Thames. There is also a small outdoor swimming pool on top of the pier that is used in the summer.

Interaction with Guests

I will meet and greet you to show you around the boat and then leave you to it, but I am always available on my mobile if you have any questions about anything :)

Other Things to Note

The River Thames has one of the highest tidal changes in Europe, every 6 hours we go up or down 25ft, it's a gentle transition but one that allows you to feel totally connected to the river and natures cycle. When we are at low tide the boat is on a slight slant as it rests on the river bed. This happens every 12 hours, one of those times is normally in the middle of the night so you won't notice.

  • A unique and quiet place to stay in the centre of London. Walking distance to a number of tourist sites. Lovely!

  • Although we didn't get to meet Kash, she made sure we knew where to go and where to find everything (and Livy was on site to help too). The boat really is lovely - just be warned that when she mentions it sloping with the tide, it really does slope! That's the charm though - and we'd happily stay again (in fact, we're hoping to later this year).

This really was a great location - we had a very pleasant walk from Big Ben to the boat - so you're close to the hustle and bustle of the city - but once on board the boat, felt as though we were a million miles away. A lovely find!

  • Wonderful experience staying on Kashfi's houseboat. Very comfortable, with great views across the Thames - especially at night. Fantastic facilities (strong shower, efficient gas oven, etc.) and a very warm, welcome environment to relax in. Ducks and geese a bonus! Highly recommended. Thanks for having us!

  • What an amazing location. If you're looking for something truly special, while staying in London, go for Kashfi's boat, if it's available. Experiencing the tide - it was a crazy 6m every 6 hours - is quite an experience. Also to have breakfast, while geese and ducks are swimming by, is beautiful. We also enjoyed walking next to the river to Big Ben and back during the day and even headed back after watching a performance at The National at night. The flat in the boat is not very big, but more than suitable for three (one couple, though). Everything was very clean and cozy. The community, including neighbours, were very open-minded and friendly. We didn't meet Kashfi, since she was out of town, but judging from her e-mails and the way the flat is looked after, she seems a lovely person.

  • What a fascinating area of London - regeneration all around. Glistening tower blocks gleaming in the early sun and the late evening in one direction, derelict power stations waiting their turn in the other. Loved the sort of gritty determination that comes from Tideway Pier hanging on in there and the rock of the Thames beneath our feet. Very comfortable boat for the four of us -and just such a an experience!

  • A really fabulous place both in terms of the area and also the novelty of the houseboat. The flat had everything we could have asked for and was extremely comfortable and clean.

Kashfi is a lovely accommodating host and was only to happy to help us out with a late checkout and all our other needs. The neighbours in the houseboat community are also really friendly and made our stay completely hassle free.

We will definitely recommend to anyone travelling to London.

  • The boathouse is as it is shown in the photos. An amazing experience.
Has all the amenities, it is clean, tidy, very comfortable and cozy, the neighborhood is very nice and accessible, with several supermarkets nearby.
We could not meet Kash but she was also very attentive to our arrival and stay.
Very friendly neighbors is like a big family.
Was a unique experience and an adventure for the family especially for my nephew who did not want to leave the boathouse.
    Thanks Kash for everything.

  • We can highly recommend Kashfi's place. We and our boys experienced the river Themes and the life on the river. Near communications to the center of London. Friendly host!

  • We also have been to the houseboat on a very cold easter holiday with even some snow. We were surprised of the warm cosy atmosphere inside.(not just the atmosphere, it wasn´t cold at all)
Kashfi was really very friendly when she helped us with the luggage, which didn´t arrive with us on the same flight. Also the neigbours were very nice to us.
I really liked my first boat experience and was amused that sometimes I got the impression that the pavement of the museum was going up and down as well, like at home.

Thank you Kashfi for this particular holidays

  • We stayed in the boathouse late March 2013 unfortunately the coldest March in 50 years!. The boat was very warm and nice and contained everything we needed for our stay. The view from the living room was exellent but we were sorry that the weather didn't invite for use of the terasse. It took us a while to get used to low tide when the boat was standing unlevelled on the river bank but this was also some of the fun and extraordinary part of the stay. Kash was very nice to give instructions and also recommended a VERY nice indian restaurant nearby - try it out.

About
I am a mid thirties documentary film maker, I live in a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment on a 2 story houseboat, my brother lives in the flat next door and friends live upstairs and on neighbouring boats, it's a wonderful and unique community. I thought I'd make some extra cash and share my unique home with travelers who get to have a different taste of London than usual. I love being so close to nature in the center of London, one of the most exciting capital cities in the world! I'm fairly relaxed and very tidy :)
