The Space

Compact but charming studio apartment 3 blocks from the French Quarter. I bedroom with queen size bed, full kitchen and living/dining area.

Two televisions -- one in the bedroom and one in the living area.

My profile picture says it all -- me and the requisite glass of wine....

From our location you can walk almost anywhere -- the French Quarter is a few blocks away, and the Marigny itself is a fantastic place to explore. We have lots of breakfast cafes, restaurants, restaurants/bars and just plain bars. You'll find out where the locals go to eat, dance and enjoy our wonderful city.

I've loved being with airbnb, you airbnb guests are the best! The space is fantastically decorated if I do say so myself :) ....I have only rented by word-of-mouth up until joining airbnb, so the apartment is in excellent condition and everyone who has stayed with me has enjoyed it very much.

Although I have put the space as accommodating 2 people, in a pinch you could accommodate a third -- the loveseat in the living/dining/kitchen space opens into a twin bed. However, when the bed is open the living space is almost nonexistent....but it could work for a couple with a child or when every space is at a premium like it is during mardi gras.... but I DO require that you let me know if there is a third person.

Now as to the "pets allowed".....I have had people bring their pets....if they are well behaved, don't piddle on the floor or chew up everything they are welcome.....I have 2 English Bull Terriers on my side of the house, so you may hear a dog bark or two....

I reserve the right to approve your pet (dog) .no cats please..

Oh, and I have an automatic, natural gas-driven generator that kicks on in case of power failure....it runs the whole house..... :) Katrina be damned.... :)

For those looking for an extended stay, I am negotiable on price.

I provide things like water, coffee, cheese, crackers, fruit (seasonal) --- in case you arrive in the middle of the night and are starving. I also have a hair dryer, iron and ironing board.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: although I list a 3-night minimum stay, I require a 4-NIGHT MINIMUM STAY FOR NEW YEAR'S, HALLOWEEN, CHRISTMAS, MARDI GRAS, FRENCH QUARTER FEST AND the two JAZZ FEST weekends. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate this into my airbnb info....

Guest Access

This is a 350 sq. ft. space designed as if it were a boat -- every square foot is used. But you still get a queen size bed and a nice size shower..... there is no back yard but you are welcome to sit on the stoop, as so many New Orleanians do.....

I provide a hair dryer, iron and ironing board.

I also throw in some extras: coffee, tea, bottled water, juice, cheese, granola bars....just something to tide you along should you arrive tired and starving..

I have small single guest soaps and emergency shampoo.....

And, remember, I'm right next door should should you need anything else...we can work it out (thank you Beatles).

Interaction with Guests

I can interact as much or as little as you desire. I now have a keyless entry and will give you your personal code a day before you arrive.

The Neighborhood

This neighborhood is the Marigny Triangle -- the coolest neighborhood in the city. We have our music and food venues on Frenchmen Street, just 2 blocks from my apartment. If you want to go to the Quarter, it's just 3 blocks away.... you can walk or bicycle most everywhere.....or take a bus or trolley.

Getting around

Buses on Rampart Street.....or walk to the river and take the trolley, and transfer to another trolley to go uptown.... or rent bicycles (my favorite way to get around)...

Other Things to Note

Take a cab at night. They are cheap and plentiful. The city has mandated that all cabs have GPS and accept credit cards.

NOTE TO HOUSTONIANS: Megabus now offers round trips from Houston to New Orleans - dirt cheap! Bus stop is 4 blocks from the apartment.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. The photos and listing description were accurate and Connie answered all the questions I had prior to my arrival. I found the location very convenient, especially because of all the neighborhoods I explored, I enjoyed the Frenchmen St and Decatur St area the most. I also found her local recommendations helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

  • We stayed at Connies apartment for ten days while in New Orleans and we loved every second of it. Traveling with a six months old baby we had higher needs when it comes to standard and location. The apartment is small but very cozy, clean and in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance from Frenchmen Street and the French quarters. Connie is a fantastic host: upon arrival we found juice, yoghurt and snacks, which was perfect since we got to the house late in the night.

    Connie also helped us with parking options in the area when we rented a car for a couple of days (highly recommended!) and even put in a crib for our baby upon arrival.

    We could write on and on about how good this place is and how close it is to nice restaurants, bars and attractions etc etc. But to keep it short and simple: We don´t think we could have found a better place to stay in New Orleans. Thank you, Connie and Steve!

  • Excellent apartment, absolutely recommended! Perfect location, extremely close to most interesting venues in New Orleans. The apartment is fully equipped and very nicely decorated; felt at home from the first minute. Perfect communication with the host who provided lots of detailed information not only on the apartment but also restaurants/cafés/venues in the neighbourhood.

  • Great little apartment on the left side of the house – pictures and description fit perfect. Superb location! Marigny neighborhood is a cool place (just follow Connie`s recommendations) and French Quarter is in walking distance. Communication with Connie was easy and fast, fridge was stuffed and the parking space just in front of the door. Really enjoyed the stay.

  • We loved our stay here, and Connie was a wonderful host!

    The location is great, a short walk to French Quarter, Marigny and Bywater. The keyless entry with a code is very convenient and the place has plenty of space for 2 people.

    Connie left us cheese, crackers, yogurt and an apple, plus coffee and granola bars. There's shampoo and soap for guests as well. She gave us lots of recommendations of what to do in the area and specific events happening the weekend we were there.

    Overall it was a pretty ideal place to stay and be able to walk around eating and drinking in New Orleans.

  • Our stay at Connie's apartment was great. It's clean and tidy and well decorated. The neighborhood is very charming and full of well maintained homes and we loved walking around and admiring all the beautiful architecture of the area. Its a quick walk to the french quarter which has hundreds of restaurants. We recommend staying here and would return if in New Orleans again.

  • Connie & Steve were very helpful with directions and info. The place is quaint and a delightful departure from hotels. The location is perfect. The only problem, an eye sore really is the road construction on Burgundy. In fact, walking & bike riding in New Orleans can be treacherous. My wife fell twice and she doesn't even drink! Rent this place!

  • Connie & Steve are some of the coolest people. Their place is beautiful and has perfect access to Frenchmen St. and to the French Quarter. I have been highly recommending my friends to request this spot the next time they plan a trip to New Orleans.

OK, let's see.....hmmmm.....I like wine (refer to profile pic) and my husband Steve and I love New Orleans. We own two doubles and a triple -- all in the Marigny area of the city. The Marigny is a cool place to live, you can walk to the French Quarter in 5 minutes, but our neighborhood is mainly residential -- no naughty T-shirt shops with booming music -- just a pleasant mix of cafes, bars and restaurants interspersed among the historical creole cottages, singles and doubles. We live in one half of our double on Burgundy. I've been with airbnb for a little while now.... and I must say that airbnb guests are the greatest!.... But I have also been renting my spaces out for years only through word of mouth. All of my guests have loved staying in our spaces. We have had the same people book for the same events year after year. I think that speaks for itself. I have an iPhone, which means (once you book with me) you can email me or text me and I'll get it right away. I try to keep my calendar updated....if airbnb shows it's available, it is....
