Compact but charming studio apartment 3 blocks from the French Quarter. I bedroom with queen size bed, full kitchen and living/dining area.
Two televisions -- one in the bedroom and one in the living area.
My profile picture says it all -- me and the requisite glass of wine....
From our location you can walk almost anywhere -- the French Quarter is a few blocks away, and the Marigny itself is a fantastic place to explore. We have lots of breakfast cafes, restaurants, restaurants/bars and just plain bars. You'll find out where the locals go to eat, dance and enjoy our wonderful city.
I've loved being with airbnb, you airbnb guests are the best! The space is fantastically decorated if I do say so myself :) ....I have only rented by word-of-mouth up until joining airbnb, so the apartment is in excellent condition and everyone who has stayed with me has enjoyed it very much.
Although I have put the space as accommodating 2 people, in a pinch you could accommodate a third -- the loveseat in the living/dining/kitchen space opens into a twin bed. However, when the bed is open the living space is almost nonexistent....but it could work for a couple with a child or when every space is at a premium like it is during mardi gras.... but I DO require that you let me know if there is a third person.
Now as to the "pets allowed".....I have had people bring their pets....if they are well behaved, don't piddle on the floor or chew up everything they are welcome.....I have 2 English Bull Terriers on my side of the house, so you may hear a dog bark or two....
I reserve the right to approve your pet (dog) .no cats please..
Oh, and I have an automatic, natural gas-driven generator that kicks on in case of power failure....it runs the whole house..... :) Katrina be damned.... :)
For those looking for an extended stay, I am negotiable on price.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: although I list a 3-night minimum stay, I require a 4-NIGHT MINIMUM STAY FOR NEW YEAR'S, HALLOWEEN, CHRISTMAS, MARDI GRAS, FRENCH QUARTER FEST AND the two JAZZ FEST weekends. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate this into my airbnb info....
This is a 350 sq. ft. space designed as if it were a boat -- every square foot is used. But you still get a queen size bed and a nice size shower..... there is no back yard but you are welcome to sit on the stoop, as so many New Orleanians do.....
I can interact as much or as little as you desire. I now have a keyless entry and will give you your personal code a day before you arrive.
This neighborhood is the Marigny Triangle -- the coolest neighborhood in the city. We have our music and food venues on Frenchmen Street, just 2 blocks from my apartment. If you want to go to the Quarter, it's just 3 blocks away.... you can walk or bicycle most everywhere.....or take a bus or trolley.
Buses on Rampart Street.....or walk to the river and take the trolley, and transfer to another trolley to go uptown.... or rent bicycles (my favorite way to get around)...
Take a cab at night. They are cheap and plentiful. The city has mandated that all cabs have GPS and accept credit cards.
Connie and Steves place was brilliant! We just spent an amazing weekend in New Orleans and their place was just perfect. Easily within walking distance to everything in the French Quarter and beyond. The place itself was beautifully decorated with loads of Steve's photos adorning the walls and it was also very comfortable. Communication with Connie was brilliant and we had no issues whatsoever with the check in and check out. Would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks to Connie and Steve for a great weekend in NOLA.
This apartment is in the perfect location to walk where you want to go. Frenchmen Street (music venues) is four blocks away, the French Quarter is two blocks, and Esplanade Street (where you can catch buses) is also two blocks. The apartment is well appointed (even has a small ironing board and umbrellas) and impeccably decorated. Connie and Steve are gracious hosts who had the refrigerator stocked with goodies, gave us good advice about parades, and even provided a king cake for our enjoyment. Our flight arrived six hours later than we had planned, but Connie reassured us through emails that it was no problem. I would highly recommend this apartment.
Clean and wonderful apartment -- having a few snacks and drinks on hand was above and beyond what I was expecting, and very sweet.
Beautiful home away from home. Location is amazing and the hosts are great! They provide a great list of dining suggestions and even some recommendations on what to do in the city!
We had a great stay at Connie's. The apartment is beautiful and with snacks and essentials for your stay. We took cabs at night as Connie recommends and she is right - they are inexpensive and a great way to get around. Would recommend to anyone who wants to stay a little outside of the hustle and bustle of New Orleans, but still be close enough to walk there in just a few minutes. Overall, a really great stay!
Connie's apartment is a great place to stay in New Orleans. The place itself is really cute and nicely decorated and the location couldn't be better. We didn't have a car and didn't miss one. We walked everywhere. Connie provided detailed information about good places to eat, interesting places to visit plus helpful information about transportation, safety, and general guidelines on having a good time in the Big Easy. We really enjoyed it.
Connie was so great! She was flexible and super helpful- her recommendations were much appreciated. The place is great- as pictured and described but the photographs were ever more beautiful in person. Great place to stay!
I'm going to be as objective and fair as possible, which is somewhat difficult given that we were robbed at gunpoint literally on the steps leading into this apartment.
To back up, my girlfriend and I (both in our early 30s) stayed in this apartment between Dec. 30, 2013 and Jan. 3, 2014. The apartment is exactly as advertised and Connie was very responsive with us leading up to our stay at the apartment. I echo everyone else's reviews in commending her for the extra touches like having snacks, water, etc. The place also was very clean.
The only negative I had about the actual place is that it shares a wall with Connie's residence and you can hear a fair amount of ambient noise through the wall. This was not a big deal but was not ideal.
For our first three nights (including New Years Eve), we experienced no safety issues and found the neighborhood to be quiet and dark but a fairly quick walk to the Quarter and Frenchman street.
On Jan. 2, however, we were robbed at gunpoint at 10:15 pm on the doorstep of our apartment. After we crossed the street to the apartment, a robber, acting alone, took a few hundred dollars in cash before fleeing in a car that had been idling on the corner. Luckily, he did not physically hurt us and did not steal anything other than cash.
We called the cops immediately and they were surprisingly quick and attentive. Being from Chicago and no stranger to the high rate of urban street crime, I have been impressed with their response. We also immediately called and texted Connie, who did not respond until the next morning, but I was able to get a hold of her husband, who happened to be in Baton Rouge that night. Disappointingly, we were informed that the surveillance cameras on the porch had been disabled one to two weeks previously because they had been malfunctioning.
We stayed at the apartment that night and then moved to a hotel in the Central Business District for our last night of the vacation. Connie credited back our payment for that night, which ended up being roughly the same amount as we spent on the hotel.
Connie and her husband obviously share no blame for the independent actions of an armed criminal. It is equally obvious that this type of thing can happen anywhere, especially in tourist-heavy New Orleans during tourist-heavy New Years. However, I feel compelled to share this story because I would want to be similarly informed.
New Orleans, like most all cities, has it's hazards. One of those is making
yourself an easy target of opportunity when you walk around in strange
surroundings (to you) at night. When we make bad decisions, bad things
happen. I have 5 single-spaced pages of recommendations and advice, the
most important of which is: take a cab at night! Cabs in New Orleans are
plentiful and cheap.
And I also list both my and my husband's contact number. If I can't be
reached, he can. This was exactly the case as I was in bed with the
flu...and had the phone on low, since I was knocked out by NyQuil pm
As an update, I took the trouble to track down a neighbor's surveillance
footage, contacted our neighborhood liaison officer, forwarded info to the
lead detective. As of this posting we believe the perpetrator has been
I have 79 positive recommendations and I think that speaks for itself.
A wonderful apartment with wonderful hosts. We loved the location and feel of the apartment and saw a lot of the city by just walking to dinner and shops. We traveled with our two greyhounds and they did very well in the apartment and loved the local dog park located just a few blocks away :) We were also able to cook a Christmas dinner for 2 in the kitchen! If you book this apartment you will not be disappointed. A lovely, pet friendly couples apartment in a very special city.
Connie's apartment was great from start to finish. Connie replied to all of my questions unbelievably quickly - seriously less than five minutes every time. Getting into the apartment is super easy and the neighborhood is fantastic - a much more unique experience than the French Quarter. The apartment has an extremely thorough and useful packet of suggestions for restaurants, bars, and sights to see in the neighborhood and throughout New Orleans. The apartment is definitely small, but totally fine for two as long as you're comfortable getting a little cozy. The walls are covered with beautiful photos taken by Connie's husband. The tankless water heater is a little slow to get hot, but it was not a huge annoyance. Connie was very flexible with check-in and check-out, which we really appreciated. Overall, I would definitely stay in Connie's apartment again and definitely recommend you do as well.
