The space

Enter through the arched stone stairwell up into this sensorial “studio” room with two diminutive French doored balconies and a grand bank of North and West windows overlooking the garden ~ great light all day long! It is completely separate from the downstairs casita studio apartment. It has it's own private entrance and is basically a one room studio apartment with it's own bathroom.
It boasts of having “THE Most Comfortable Chair I Ever Sat In” chair and a VERY COMFORTABLE bed. The bed needs an explanation. It is a trundle bed (twin size beds - one pulls out from under the other and the space would need re-arranging for it to work and it is a bit of an awkward situation). The studio can work for two but it is, as I said, awkward - or VERY cozy. It is really more of a "Room of One's Own". Free WiFi, a DVD player and Purified Water are included. I want to emphasize that it is really just a room for one person. If you decide you want a guest to join you and they use the second bed there will be a charge of $27 US per night. Your rate will need to be altered.
The space is perfectly suited for reading, relaxing, writing, painting, collage work and other creativity. Setting in front of the wall of windows is a six-foot long work table, stools, an easel (easel not shown in photos). There is an adequate hanging closet, a four drawer dresser and lots of shelf space. The very small kitchen area includes a compact refrigerator, sink, a stainless steel electric skillet, electric tea kettle, small French press, a crockpot, one burner induction cooktop, Cuisinart Toaster Oven, dishes and other necessary items to allow the preparation of small scale meals. The bathroom has a shower with great water pressure. You may be able to see a small portion of the wall of it in the bathroom mirror.
A sweet retreat.
It is located a block south of Parque Juarez. One of the photos shows a lady with a bucket of flowers on her head - she is headed down Prolongacion de Aldama (my street) toward the Parque. It is an easy level (as level as San Miguel gets - a slight incline for the last 200 feet) 4 1/2 block walk to the Parroquia/Jardin/Center of town. It is very close walk to shops/markets/great restaurants and taxi's are readily available (and unbelievably inexpensive).

For location, nearby attractions/tiendas (shops/markets), more photos of the garden and other details, see my other listing on same property -" El Jardin del Ciervo Vigilante". There are two maps below which you should be able to zoom in and out to get a good idea of where you would be located. The two spaces (upstairs and downstairs) can be rented together depending on availability - contact me for working out those logistics.

Guest access

See listing for my other space - El Jardin del Ciervo Vigilante - see description by clicking on my photo, which will take you to another page with my photo, click on that photo and you should see the other space on the left of the screen (sorry this is so difficult - Airbnb changed their format and it is now quite difficult to navigate). My home is on the same property. We all use the same main gate off the street but all have separate private entrances. All guests have access to the covered patio which is attached to the front of my house and to the garden/courtyard - you can see it in one of the photos. You are welcome to move any of the chairs out to the garden (two of them are lighter than the others. There is a private patio for the downstairs casita which comes off that room. There are places in to put the light comfortable chairs that Please ask if you are confused.

Interaction with guests

I live on the property - therefore I am usually available at some point most every day if some problem or questions were to come up. I do work in the garden, and do go in and out of the main gate but I respect your privacy - always.

The neighborhood

Here is what I love about my neighborhood/neighbors - Everything. The (Mexican) people are full of content and joy (especially with their children/families) and it has a ripple effect. The colors of the buildings with the sun reflecting on them (especially at sunset). The views (but when walking or moving about one needs to stop and look/be aware of your surroundings or you might step where a cobblestone may be missing or a window sill juts out). Rather like a practice in attention.
Parque Juarez is a block away. It is a lovely, well used and well maintained park with lots of activity -happy families, children's laughter, zumba, Tai Chi, basketball, joggers, couples strolling, dog walkers, plant and art shows.

Getting around

Taxis: are readily available for a reasonable price. There are local buses for about 8 pesos.
Buses: about 3 blocks away - an adventure
Walking is the usual way of getting around. More on this in the guest guide which I send after booking.
Mi coche - If I am available and "going your way", I can sometimes give you a lift to the hot springs or the Tuesday Market (Tiangus). Depending on your destination (and mine), I may ask for a little gas money.

Other things to note

Purified water from the tap
Free UNlimited calls to the U.S. (free local calls - 50 minute limit per month)
NOT AVAILABLE - Cable TV - see my other listing about this.
There is a small VHS player (remember those?) and some VHS movies and a DVD player attached with a number of dvd's in the basket in the room or down in the patio of my home.
There is an iron (and an ironing board) available - it is stored in my home or there is one in the casita downstairs. Please ask me ahead of needing it so I can be sure to get it to you.
Please check house rules for more info.
Charge of $27 per night for a guest who uses the second bed
Lost keys are $100 Pesos each

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
Check-in is after 2PM

Rates - IMPORTANT - Regarding the cleaning fee - see *IMPORTANT note below.
Rate per month is $723 which includes gas, electric, water (purified from the tap), linens, and for one month or longer stays the first four rolls of toilet paper are provided. Rates per week (7 nights) are $324 up to 3 weeks then the rates fall going into the 3rd week.
*IMPORTANT - The cleaning fee listed is for a month's stay - absorbed in this fee is the hacienda tax. The cleaning fee box I need to fill out does not allow me to differentiate between a monthly cleaning fee or a weekly cleaning fee. After you book I will need to alter the fee if your stay is for less than a month. So when you book with Air B n B they will charge you the fee for the month (even if you are only booking for a week) so I will alter (reimburse) the appropriate/discounted amounts to you AFTER you have booked the space. Sorry for this glitch.
smoking off premises only
sorry no pets
I can be flexible about check in/check out times - just let me know.

3 nights minimum stay
