It was challenging to find a place to stay while traveling to attend the Tournament of Roses 2015 parace and I'm glad I found this charming bungalow. I traveled with my elderly mother, my cousin and her husband.
I knew it was going to be a good stay when Cynthia called me to touch base the day of our arrival and offered to stay with my mom while I went to LAX to pick up my relatives. That wasn't necessary but the offer was very much appreciated.
While there were issues with the heat because the weather was unseasonably cold, Cynthia resolved the problem quickly.
The bungalow's location was great for us. Cynthia offered to take us to the parade and we took her up on it, and we chose to walk home.
It was perfect to have the twin beds for mom and I. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is equipped with basics, linens and towels are good quality (I'm picky about that), and the hospitality is outstanding. There were fresh flowers to welcome us, a bottle of wine, fresh eggs from the chickens, delicious homemade biscotti, loaf of Trader Joe's french bread, lemons, butter, and milk. We enjoyed picking and using the lemons and delicious, sweet grapefruit Cynthia offered from the back yard.
We will be delighted to stay at the bungalow if we are in the area again.
Thank you Chnthia for taking such good care of us.
This is a wonderful place to stay and Explore Passadena and LA. Its a simple cottage that has been nicely decorated, but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Bruno and Cynthia were great hosts who were extremely friendly, letting our 3 young kids play with their chickens and generally happy to have the kids playing in the back yard. They are there and available if needed and when a small problem with the heating arose, they had someone around to sort it out within half an hour.
Easy walk up to Sth Lake Avenue and shops, including the Pie n' Burger for your American Diner meals, and two supermarkets.
A great stay for a family with 3 young children and I would recommend it to anyone.
The bungalow was the perfect place to stay during our visit to Pasadena. It is charming, clean, the beds are comfortable, and it is situated in a quiet neighborhood. A great location to walk to shops in Pasadena, visit the Huntington Library and Gardens, Cal Tech, and other local attractions. Bruno is a fantastic host, friendly, accommodating, went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. I highly recommend staying here!
This little bungalow was a comfortable, quiet and private place for us (2 adults, 3 kids to use as home base) Great hospitality from Bruno and Cynthia! We appreciated the friendly and thoughtful welcome. The location is very convenient to Cal Tech and shops/restaurants as well as public transportation.
Bruno was a welcoming host who met all of our needs including fresh eggs in the morning. He was friendly, accommodating and brought us wonderful pastries on the morning of my mother's birthday. The house was cozy and fit my 2 sisters, my mother and myself well. The neighborhood was great, I walked each morning and loved where we were located in Pasadena.
Cynthia & Bruno are exceedingly kind and generous hosts. They maintain 2 separate 1920s era houses on this property: a small bungalow in back (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3723355?s=fmh1), and a slightly larger cottage (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1037283?s=mj6O) up front. Each has been beautifully refurbished, and comes with an off-street parking space in back. The area is quiet (except for the wild parrots that roam the neighborhood), and well situated - just a half block from the Caltech campus (home to a small but highly entertaining turtle pond), a block from Pie & Burger, Peet's, and Starbucks, and just a short drive to Old Pasadena, or the 110 freeway (which can get you to downtown L.A. in just 20 minutes).
