Escape from the bustle and enjoy a few days nestled in the redwoods. Your private treetop single bedroom has breathtaking views and sounds from the creek below. Just a 5min walk from Cascade Falls, and right across the street from Tenderfoot trail!
Our home is a redwood oasis.
Your room is the most breathtaking in the house - nothing but windows with views out to green treetops. There's a creek below the house you can hear from the room.
You'll be sharing the house with Rachel and I. We love hosting. Rachel is a yoga teacher / singer / doula / health coach and I'm a doc filmmaker / musician / meditation instructor.
The house is one of the oldest in Mill Valley - and used to be a weekend getaway for Marilyn Monroe and Joe Demaggio!
It's a very old house so it has it's quirks - but space is very important to us so we've loved it up a lot.
Your bed is a very comfortable full futon (we've slept on it many times!).
You're free to make use of the fully stocked kitchen (vitamix! juicer!), living room with TV + stereo, the beautiful front patio / table, curl up in front of our gas fireplace, or enjoy the yurt in our backyard (when it's unoccupied).
Ben works from home - so the downstairs office is off limits.
We also have a beautiful upright piano & guitars for the musically inclined.
One note - cell phone service is a bit spotty from the house. You're free to use Wifi to make (website hidden) calls as needed, or, if you'd like, we can temporarily add your cellphone to a small microcell tower we use to boost service.
Your bathroom / shower is downstairs, and it's a bit quaint / small - but works like a charm.
Interaction with Guests
Both Rachel and I work from home, so at times we me disappear into work mode (especially from 9-5pm week days) but generally we love to connect!
For those who are interested, Rachel teaches private yoga lessons and makes delicious vegetarian food. For an additional $100, you can add a yoga private + 2 delicious home prepared vegetarian meals to your stay!
Our location couldn't be more perfect. Deep in the redwoods, yet minutes from downtown Mill Valley. Some of the favorite hiking and biking trails of Marin are literally minutes walk away; Muir Beach / Stinson Beach / Mt Tam are a 20-30 minute drive.
You'll love it, we promise.
Unfortunately, public transit is scarce from the house, so it's best if you have your own car.
Parking is available down below the house by the creek.
There's extreme fire danger (we're in the woods!) especially given the drought - so we have a strict no smoking / no candle policy. Also, we tend to treat our home like a temple of sorts - so we ask to keep shoes outside, be mindful of noise, etc.
Also, Rachel and I are vegetarian (no meat or fish, we do eat cheese / eggs), so ask that, if possible, you refrain from storing or cooking meat in the house.
Gorgeous home in a quiet, wooded area which is just what we needed in a quick getaway from the city. Ben wasn't there, but insured we felt very much at home -- which we did! The bed was amazingly comfortable and we fell asleep happily to the sound of a babbling brook. We're already scheming our next trip up so we can fully take advantage of all the nearby hiking!
We could feel the warmth at the bottom of the hill. Walking inside, eyes wide, hearts soothed by the soft décor and the markings of a playful, yet rooted existence.
Our senses dancing with profound tranquility.
Rachel welcomed us, entreating us to make ourselves at home...and we knew she deeply meant it.
We shared the most nourishing and healing weekend, helped along by the intention and love that Rachel and Ben have danced into the beams. How lovely to be able to walk into the woods in all directions, or into town for groceries. How lovely to hear the creek as you fall asleep, and let it call you out of bed in the morning. (incessant stream of peace!) How lovely that such a space is opened up for travelers.
Rachel and Ben know that abundance is felt through sharing. I usually feel uncomfortable in another's space (sometimes even my own) But that didn't come up in this house. I could feel the sincerity behind everything they gave, and knew that they gave it freely.
Stay here for three days, all are very happy with! Ben's Place is homy and elegant.
I loved my stay with Ben and Rachel. I would definitely recommend to those who want a relaxing stay away from society and to be immersed into solitude and nature.
-Cozy, comfortable, and super relaxing
-Location: perfect for what I wanted. In the middle of the woods next to really nice and easy trails that have beautiful waterfalls.
I wanted to get away for peace and quiet. This was the perfect place to do so. Worth every penny. :)
Ben and Rachel's home in the forest is a perfect retreat. We felt so comfortable there, and loved listening to the sound of the creek outside our window. Ben and Rachel were fantastic hosts - they were super generous, easy going and very warm. With Muir Woods very close nearby, and San Francisco just 30 minutes drive away, this is an idyllic spot, surrounded by nature. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely time in this beautiful and peaceful space. We didn't get to engage with the hosts too much. I spoke to them briefly and they seemed very nice. We were both tired from working hard and this space was a welcome treat.
It was everything we expected and more. Lovely place, inviting ambiance. The room is right next to a babbling creek and surrounded by trees. Absolutely amazing.
I'm a documentary filmmaker and meditation / yoga instructor. My fiance Rachel teaches yoga, and is a birth doula and holistic health coach. We love to sing / play music together =)
